User Image Prithee strutted alongside a stream, his head leaned over it as he did so so he could gaze at his reflection. The young foal had snuck away from his parents only an hour before; mostly just to do this. Admire himself, spend half an hour just looking at himself, the gist of it. Reason being he sneaked off just to do this was because it wasn't quite appreciated with his family. His father would say things like "save the compliments for the ladies", and he just felt rather embarrassed to act so prideful around his mother and sister. Prithee sighed. He most definitely did not want to make his family uncomfortable or displease them. They had to love everything about him, he was too perfect not to be! (Because he sure loves himself).

Taking a break Prith trotted normally. Yes, strutting does get tiring quickly. He took a moment to admire his red, orange, and gold surroundings- thinking how well he complimented the scenery. It was a tad chilly though. Tad boring as well, he thought to himself, considering heading back to his family soon.

Madoka was doing another aimless walk. She starting to get tired of the fall colors. She wanted the snow to start falling, but it seemed like it was a ways away. To bad. Her pinks eyes took in the area, she had never followed the river the teepee was located on. It never really dawned on her to do that. So it was new. But there was no real purpose to do it. She wondered why...

Well truth be told, it was the way she was. She responded better to commands rather then her making her own decisions. She never seemed sure about then and often spent the time wondering if it was the right one to make.

It wasn't to far down the stream that she noticed a foal about.

Prith was about to adopt his pompous little performance again before noticing another horse, and quickly he shed the act before taking on a more humble appearance. Once sure that she was aware of his presence he came to a stop and bowed his head in greeting. As he raised his head his eye had an invisible twinkle of approval. She had a black coat as well- no green or purple, but black, and that was good enough for him.

He shuffled a hoof around once or twice, unsure of his next move. Should he approach her or wait? He thought about it for a moment longer before deciding that she seemed like the type that really didn't care (most were that type). Trotting over and stopping a decent distance away he gave another but smaller nod of the head.

Madoka looked over at him and she tilted her head. What was it that he was doing? She was still adjusting to how horses greeted. In the herd she was raised in, greetings were very different. So when he approached her, she watched him. Did he want something? he was confused to the nod and now the whole situation!

"Ah... H-hello" She stuttered out a bit. Assuming he was still greeting her, and this was thusly the correct form in which to greet without carrying on with nods. "Are y-you sure it's safe to b-b-e out here alone?" She often didn't seen foals alone, ot .. foals at all actually this was the first time she was meeting one, even seeing one. She looked around for an angry parent. the last thing she needed was a mothers wrath. Thought she did take notice that he had some brother colors just like she did. She had only been meeting naturals lately.

Prith responded with a gentle smile. "Hello.~" He took caution- she seemed like the nervous one. He didn't want to give her a fright or anything! And he was sure he couldn't act vain and like himself either. After hearing a bit more stuttering he concluded that his suspicions had to be correct. "Out here? You must be far from home; but I'm not so I can assure you it's quite safe around here." He was actually perhaps a little far away- but such a distance could not make too large a difference. "I'm Prithee by the way, but you may call me Prith. What's your name?"

Noting to himself to take great care he looked around as she did (why, he did not know). If she really wasn't from here than after a minute of small chit-chat he'd offer to give her a tour or something (obviously in the direction where he knew the area). This was the first horse his parents had no relation to he ever met! He definitely had to befriend her without fail.

The foal seemed quite gentle. She blinked down at him and his green eyes. "Prithee.." SHe said aloud to make sure she was saying it right. "Ah... Madoka." She smiled at him. When he assured her that he was safe, she felt more settled. It was possible it was a maternal instinct, but the idea of a foal in danger didn't settle right, and if she were to sit back and allow harm to come to it, would make her a horrible horse.

"Well... I have a herd type thing, a little down the river. I've never come up this way before. I'm still kind of new to this area. I use to reside on the plains." She would still get lost leaving the teepee on the path.

"Madoka? That's a pretty name," smiling he flicked his tail. "I live with my parents a little ways..." he pointed with his nose, "that way." He nodded as more coherent thoughts filled his head, "when I get older though I'll probably move in where my father use to live- it's a pretty little teepee at a seashore. I'm guessing my father will... stay with my mother?" He shrugged. (Actually, when Prith grew he'd probably become a traveler- charitably leaving a little touch of Prith wherever he went.) "Anyways, forgive me if I'm rambling! Since you're not completely familiar with this place, want me to show you around? (Even though there's not much to see besides trees and this here river!)" Yes yes, she couldn't say no to a cute little foal like him.~

Madoka blinked and listened to him talk about his parents. It was all knew to her because she was raised in a herd, and when she was a foal, her parents were killed. So she found it interesting. "Are you sure that it will be acceptable?" She didn't want to cause problems for anyone by letting him take her around. But this surely couldn't be a bad thing. He was an adorable foal after all. If things went well, she might try and truely befriend him. He was one of the first horses that she met, that she seemed to flow well with. Most tended to brush her off. So it was nice that he offered.

She took a few steps closer to him and leaned forward to give him a sniff. "Is there much to see? Aside from the trees and river? Anything interesting, or different?"

He did his best not to put any emphasis on the word 'pretty' in his answer. "Pretty sure." They didn't know where he was, how much harm could hanging around with a stranger add? They were kind of lax too. Since all was well it'd surely end well.
Glad that she was feeling comfortable enough to stand closer he glanced around, filing through his memory for any cool stuff he's seen. After a few moments he had just about run out of hope, until one memory hit him. It was only a few days ago, when he had come across a geode. It must have been carried from quite a ways away by a traveler for it to end up in a forest, and dropped off for being quite the load to carry. It was far too heavy for Prith alone to even push along. That should be interesting enough. "Well, I did see something pretty the other day. I think it should still be in the same spot more or less." Not as pretty as me of course.

Madoka smiled at the foal. She was quite happy. "Really? Then I would love to see it." She was almost airhead like. She was happy to have another's company, and how luck to be a well mannered foal! All her worries seem to walk away like the river did. "Lets go, lets go!" She could hardly contain herself.

And as Prithee would lead, she would ask him about what it was that they were going to be looking at, and how far away it would be. She had all day, but she wasn't to sure how much time the foal would have.

"Well I don't wanna tell you exactly what it is, to keep it more surprise-like, but I can tell you it's shiny," he nodded and continued, "and as big as a rock- and not the little rocks either. It shouldn't be too far from here actually, if I recall." He paused for a moment to look for a tree with unique scratch marks on it, and once he spotted it he headed in the direction the scratches were facing. "I think a bear might have dominated this forest area once, and scratched up trees to mark his territory. At least that's what the blue horse I know tells me. I use the scratch marks as markers for when exploring, but sometimes they're not very useful since they can all look pretty similar. Have you ever seen a bear before, or know what one looks like? The way everyone describes one make's it sound like they're a giant squirrel without the tail..."

"A bear?" Madoka was rather surprised. "I have no idea... Where I come from, we didn't have bears." Since she lived on a plain, bears wouldn't have survived to well there. So She never met one. "Do I need to be worried about a bear?" She was almost like a child, some things she just didn't know, and that was that... She learned as she went.

She looked with him for scratch marks on the trees, but she wasn't really seeing anything. But then again she wasn't the most proficient in this. "What is a squirrel?" She asked, not having seen, or known what that was either.

"Quote 'Unless it's a small domesticated one or something they should be avoided, as they're dangerous' end quote," Prith shrugged, then smiled. "But I don't think you need to be worried, if you haven't encountered one before you might not ever." Prith wondered if he was naive to believe that, and wondered if she was naive enough to believe it too.

The next question shocked Prith a little. She's never seen a squirrel? Could it be this is was first time she's traveled...? She must be on the same level as me when it comes to knowledge of the outside world... He'd just have to teach her what little he knew then! "A squirrel is..." He looked around for the furry critter- they were everywhere after all. "That," with his nose he pointed to one that was scurrying up a tree. "They're pretty harmless." Curiosity suddenly stirred in his mind. "Hey, Madoka... why is it you've waited up til now to leave where you came from and explore?"
PostPosted: Wed Jan 06, 2010 6:09 am

"Really? Well I guess thats a good thing then, I wouldn't want to get hurt." Bears were now labeled as dangerous in her mind. This would end up being a good, because she was unable to make decisions she would stand the chance to get really hurt. As she followed him she saw the squirrel. Not ever knowing that they were, when she first entered the forest, she was happy to find out what they were now. "Those little things are squirrels? Well I'm glad to find out what they are. I see them everyday." She turned to the one that had started to dart up the tree. "Hello Squirrel!" She grinned, and then made to keep following the foal.

"Ah..." His question took her off guard. She had changed a bit, since she first got there. But it was still a bit of a sensitive subject for her. "Well.. um..." She wasn't to sure how to put it. Well she did; but for some reason she still felt that it could drive others away. "When I was, a foal... I lived in the plains in a herd with my family. But when I became an adult, that night I went to sleep with the herd, and when I woke up; they had all left me behind..." That was what the story had been for her, for a long time, until she spent time with Ritalin who brought her somewhere that caused her to remember what happened.

"When I was young, my parents and I went to an oasis type place... and They were attacked and killed by Kalona. With my parents dead, I never learned the proper way to lead the herd, and as rule, the first born child is to take over the herd... But the herd had to do what was right for themselves, and in order to survive they had to leave me... and select a new leader; and start over..." She missed the herd a lot... "So I wondered into the forest, so that I wouldn't see them again... And so; here I am." She smiled a little.

"I'm slowly learning how to take care of myself properly in the forest."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that..." Prith regretted asking the question, and was even sorrier when he heard about her parents. How tragic! Prith could not imagine how he'd manage without his parents. How could he act vain and admire himself when he was busy trying to keep himself alive and intact? He glanced at the mare. She sure was a lot stronger than she appeared...

"I think that's very brave of you, to learn to fend for yourself alone from scratch. That's a very leader-like quality." Prith decided to himself that he'd have to hone that hidden leader inside of her. "Madoka... I'm going to turn you into a true leader! I don't know how, but I will," he proclaimed, "and don't say otherwise, because it'd be a waste of potential."
