Age: 27
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance: Standing at about 6'2", Janos is far more feminine looking than most guys. His face lacks the sharp angles of most men, this along with how long and lean he is often fools many a person into thinking he's actually a girl. Large blue eyes and long silver hair don't help dispell the illusion, nor does his habit of wearing things with pink hearts on them. In fact, his favorite hoodie is a large white one with a pink heart on the right side of the chest. It's not entirely uncommon to spot him with his headphones, either. The Angel wings and hearts design was definitely intended for girls. Janos doesn't seem to really care if the clothing he likes was made for girls. If it fits, isn't expensive, or a dress, he'll wear it.
Personality: Being raised by mostly by his five older sisters definitely impacted Janos' personality. The man is laid back and very patient, although he is rather flighty. He is completely inexperienced in combat, and so the thought of fighting tends to scare him quite a bit.
The tiny tabby kitten he owns is his only love, and he dotes on Baby Girl excessively. She seems to be a bit more intelligent than most cats, sensitive to Janos' mood, though it's not known if she's more than just an ordinary cat.
History: The last of six kids, and the only boy his parents ever had, Janos spent his childhood in a peaceful home. At least until his third birthday, when his father walked out on the family, never giving them an explanation or bothering to contact them again. From then on, his mother spent most of her time out of the house, working to support five kids, with the help of Janos' oldest sister, already in her early twenties at the time. Practically raised by his older sisters, Janos grew up without a father figure in his life.
The boy never questioned the lack of money in the home, happily playing with his sister's toys, and accepting their hand-me-downs without complaint. With some encouragement from his sisters, Janos grew his hair out and let his sisters practice styling hair with him.
However, on his thirteenth birthday, it became apparent Janos wasn't just a girly little boy. An amethyst pendant, a gift from his sisters, seemed to awaken a hidden power in the boy. Much to the shock of his mother, Janos seemed to have inherited the capacity for a class of magic known as crystal casting. This talent had been passed down through the generations on his mother's side, always showing up only in the girls. The talent had disappeared from the bloodline with the death of Janos' great-great-grandmother, reappearing four generations later in Janos.
Taking what little she remembered of her great-grandmother's talents, Janos' mother began showing him how to channel magic through various crystals, enabling the casting of different shielding and healing spells. Not wanting her son to end up being a fighter, she refrained from teaching him any offensive spells, even going as far as telling him crystal casting simply couldn't be used in any other fashion.
As Janos continued to grow older, he retained the habits impressed upon him by his sisters, despite them moving out as they all got older. As his skills with crystal casting improved, he began casting shields and performing healings to earn gold, learning to support himself, and finally moved out.
But, a chance encounter has turned his life upside down. Happening across an injured man, Janos just couldn't turn his back on the guy, and healed his injuries. Receiving little thanks and no pay for the deed, Janos simply returned home, thinking that the end of the incident. It wasn't. The man was the target of a botched assassination, and now the assassin is after Janos.
And Janos doesn't even know it yet.
Abilities: Janos uses a specific type of rune magic known as crystal casting. By holding a crystal or gem, Janos can channel his magic through it, enabling the use of rune based magic. Though at the moment he is limited to defensive and healing runes, since his mother impressed upon him that it would be impossible to use his magic in an offense oriented fashion. However, it is possible for him to learn other rune sets, but he must first discover and memorize them.
The larger and purer the crystal or gem, the more power he can channel into it, and therefore, the more power he can put into his spells. Repeatedly channeling through the same crystal will eventually cause it to grow dull and shatter.
