The summertime brought great discomfort for the mare, so while bears hibernated in the winter she did a similar ritual while the warmer months passed through. She chose to remain in solitude and reside in a large cave at the foot of a mountain. It was silent and dark in the cave, and the deeper she went in the cooler she found the environment inside. Many could never realize it, but a cave was a whole different world. There were strange creatures and plants that would thrive and hide from the other world outside. It was the perfect environment for Deumos to function out of the heat. And she honestly enjoyed the silence like it was a gift.

Her only judge of the season's changing was the fact that the cave would get colder and colder, so she supposed it was finally getting chilly outside again. There was always a point when she found herself forgetting what the sun looked and felt like. Since the cave was starting to become an even colder temperature then she was used to, she decided to make her way towards the entrance and finally venture outside. She wasn't necessarily searching for anything in the normal landscape. She just needed to walk and feel the light that she had forgotten for so many months.

So she crept and crept along the cave's path until finally getting closer to what looked like light. Now was the hard part. She would need to be careful since her eyes would need time to get used to the abundant flash. But yes, it was even chillier outside then it was in the cave. She had chosen a good day to start anew outside, and soon she could be walking and feeling the breeze against her fiery body. But for now, she squinted lightly and began to get used to everything that shined in front of her.

She would get out of this cave as soon as possible. And only return when it was time again to hide...

It had been about four days since the sunset stallion had holed himself away in his home after returning an extremely petite mare back to her residence at the shoreline. Cuauh had tried to distract himself with his scrolls and practicing the shift from Angeni to pure human in the privacy of his longhouse, and it simply wasn't working. He couldn't concentrate, couldn't think straight. Perhaps he had simply gotten to used to having someone to chat with during the days stuck avoiding the storm and the way. That was the best explanation, a mild addiction perhaps due to familiarity.

He decided the best course of action was fresh air, leading him to follow the thermals up above the mountains and float in the breezes, four large, powerful wings barely moving as he swept along above the trees.

From his lofty location and a sharp eye for curiosities meant it didn't take long for Cuauhcoatl to notice a bit of flickering, like a fire, exiting from the mouth of a cave. Watching carefully, he swooped down in a spiral to get a closer look, eventually getting closer that he recognized the flames to be licking from a soquili. Breath catching in his throad, he found a clearing nearby and landed softly, trying to find his way carefully closer to the stranger.

On one hand, what he recognized as a mare from his closer inspection, could be dangerous, and he wasn't exactly the most socially adapt stallion in the Kawani lands, more apt to reading ancient wall carvings to having a conversation.

On the other: She was on fire. If that wasn't a curiosity worth visiting, what was?

Cleared his throat, still keeping a safe distance from her, "H-Hello? I, uh, I mean y-you no harm or an-n-n-noyance, I simply n-noticed you as I flu-flew by and thought p-per, ahem, perhaps we could, um... Talk?"

Nice one, Cuauh he scolded himself silently, before shooting back just to keep his mental lips shut about his stutter.

The stallion might have been hard on himself, but Deumos hardly noticed his error. In truth she hadn't even noticed him walk over, and some of that had to do with the fact that her eyes weren't completely accustomed to the light. But after a few minutes and some sturdy staring, she finally noticed the very bright figure not far from her. Well hugh. It seemed she had company. That was a first.

If only the stallion knew. He didn't need to watch how he spoke or acted. Deumos had no thoughts on how someone should act. She could only go by what she had observed... and that was basically nothing. Once she watched a family interact until they spotted her and ran off. That was the only interaction she had ever taken in, so the stallions stuttering seemed completely normal to her, just as all things were.

"Hello." she finally answered as a significant amount of time had gone by. To Deumos' defense she was busy staring at the stallion's many colors. What did he remind her of? Whatever it was it felt refreshing, and color was definitely something she hadn't seen in quite some time. "You are beautiful." she finally answered, without even realizing how strange that could have sounded.

"I can talk, I think." she also added, while walking a bit closer and allowing her eyes to see the rest of the landscape around her. It was definitely fall time, and soon winter too. As the air swept around and through her mane, she realized how perfect the temperature would be as it continued to drop and drop. Thank goodness it was cold again. And thank goodness for the colors around her.

As if to express her gratitude for being out of the cave, the fire around her body wisped and danced around the mare in a lively attitude. It was good to be... feeling again.

Blinking in flatfooted confusion, Cuauhcoatl's eyes widened slightly at the compliment on his appearance -- well, that had not been what he had been expecting, however it did make reality lean more towards her being a pure 'mutant' as the kawani called them then a mutated half-Kalona. Was likely a little safer to be close to, even if she was on fire.

After all, it didn't seem to be burning any of the nearby vegetation, even if she was radiating with heat.

"Ah, g-good." the sunset colored stallion chuckled softly, relaxing slightly, "I couldn't help but notice you as you emerged from the cave. Have you been p-planning on wint-wintering there? Or perhaps its to regul-late your temperature -- keep yourself cool.. I'm a scholar, I find your.. Ah.. Well, no offense but 'condition'. Its not a common trait, living fire.. And most who have it tend to prefer warmer, dryer temperatures then caves or mountains..."

She wasn't quite sure what he was actually talking about, but she tried hard to listen as best as she could. At least looking at him was fun! The talking part was a bit difficult but she was learning and taking all of his words in. She appreciated that he was still putting up with her as well. That meant that he was a very patient creature. Most didn't have that trait nowadays.

"I like the caves so I can be alone and cold." she finally admitted with a natural, quiet expression. "Condition?" hm, she had never heard it put THAT way. She felt a bit... upset when she considered the word. That wasn't what other's had said to her before. They used a different word that had a lighter connotation. "I thought it was a gift." As her eyebrows arched, she felt the fire move even quicker around her body. She wasn't necessarily upset, just confused. "Like your wings. Aren't they gifts too?" Because then he could fly, whereas she couldn't because she didn't have such wings.

Since he had figured out her location she decided to inquire about his. "So where do you live mister?" Probably not in a quiet cave like herself.

"I-I-I-I meant no offense by calling the fire a condition. It's. Ah.. It's like how I tend t-t-to be rather l-large com compared to other soquili, though not as large as some - c-can be seen as bad by some, and good to others. And p-p-please excuse my speech con..Ah.. Speech impedi-pediment. I S-stutter when nervous. Words don't come out right, I say the wrong thing." The large stallion cleared his thro shifted his wings slightly, thinking of it, "It is a gift, yes. A rare one that is n-not only rather striking b-but it would scare away most predators, keeping you safer.. Likely keeps you warm, which is why you would prefer colder weather as well. Do you stick to the mountains? Or do you ever follow them to the west, where they dip down into cool coastal areas? The dampness might not be.. Ah... Well might not go well with your flames, but some are not bothered.."

Realizing he was starting to ramble, Cuauhcoatl lowered his head down in embarrassment, "Mmn... I l-live to the east, in a valley between a fork in the mountains. Rather high up. "
