Not sure exactly what I'm doing yet, but as I celebrate on the cross-quarter (Nov 7th for me), I've still got a bit of time to throw something together. Quote: Samhain Incense Recipe3 parts Rosemary 3 parts Pine 3 parts Bay 3 parts Apple 2 drops Patchouli Oil source

I have Rocky Horror on Saturday, but my Coven is holding Ritual on Sunday. This should be quite interesting. I will update after the ritual for what will be happening that night.

Happy Samhain/Beltane everybody! Soraya Pronounced sow-en or sav-en, this holiday will be better known to you as Hallowe'en. It is the Wiccan equivalent of New Year and represents the last day of the harvest season. It is a time to honour ancestors and many leave altar offerings in the form of food and wine in tribute to dead relatives, or set some extra places at the dinner table in case any late family member wants to join the feast. This is traditionally the time for eating the last seasonal vegetables. Meat is traditional at this festival. This is the last opportunity for harvest, after this night, harvesting vegetables is thought to be bad luck. Apples are traditional so cider is the best accompaniment to the food. Significance: The last day of harvest, remembrance of and respect for the dead. Herbs: Allspice, nutmeg, rosemary and sage. Foods: Root vegetables (carrots, parsnips, potatoes, turnips) apples, pumpkins and squashes, nuts, wines, cider, beef, lamb, pork and poultry.

Carving a Magiackal o'Lantern
1 meddium pumpkin Large spoon Medium bowl Votive candle or tea light Long kitchen matches
Cut the top of the pumpkin and remove all the insides. Use the knife to carve a pentacle into the pumpkin. Then put the candle in the pumpkin and light the candle, and say this:
"May my beloved from beyond the viel, follow your gentle glowing light. Illuminate their jorney, on this scared night of nights."
Then put the pumpkin at your front door.

Heres A Very Good Recipe That i Already Used With Cinnamon And SeaSalt Its A Good Idea To Do With Your Left Over Pumpkin Seeds!
Preperation You can't quite cook the seeds straight out of the pumpkin, but it's almost that easy. If you'd prefer not to lose the pumpkin flesh flavor, use a damp kitchen towel to wipe off the seeds. Otherwise, rinse them off and pat dry with a kitchen towel. OPTIONAL: For a stronger salty flavor, boil seeds in salted water. Let simmer for 10 minutes before draining and drying.
Oven Roasting: Pre-heat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Toss seeds in a bowl with one to two tablespoons of melted butter or olive oil. You can use margarine instead of butter, or substitute another type of oil for the olive oil. For a lower-fat version, skip the oil and butter and use cooking spray on your baking pan. Place in a single layer in an oven-safe dish or on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt. Bake for 30 - 40 minutes, or until they start to brown, stirring every 10 minutes.
Variations:
If you'd like, add other flavors in as well as salt. This recipe suggests baking with garlic salt and Worcestershire sauce. This recipe calls for sugar, cumin, ginger, and cayenne pepper. And this variation goes with Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and hot pepper sauce. Or choose any flavors you like and bake away, such as: Curry powder Cinnamon Maple Syrup Honey Nutmeg Tabasco Sauce

Do NOT count me as entering in the raffle; but I want to post in here anyway since this is such a fun time of year!
MmMmm... my pumpkin seeds just got done and right fresh from the oven they're so nummy! I really only got a pumpkin this year because I wanted to roast seeds... not so much because I wanted to carve one. It shall be fun to cruise around tomorrow and see what goodies I can pick up on the sales. I don't actually celebrate Samhain on the 31st or 1st, so I can take advantage of them for my decor. whee

I just served our Samhain Dinner at my house and this is the recipe for the main dish that I fixed it was pretty good! I just hope the spirits think so to razz wink .
Festival Tortellini 4 to 6 servings
1 (26-ounce) jar spaghetti sauce 2 (9-ounce) packages Italian sausage-filled tortellini (fresh or frozen and thawed) 1-1/2 cups water 1 large green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch chunks 1 medium onion, cut into thin wedges 1 (4-ounce) can mushrooms, drained 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a 9" x 13" baking dish, combine all the ingredients except the cheese; mix well. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven, stir, cover, and bake for 20 more minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle with the cheese, and bake, uncovered, for 5 more minutes, or until the cheese is melted. Serve immediately.
Happy Samhain
A note: (I had to substitute 3 cheese because I couldn't find Italian Sausage filled tortellini in my area it still turned out pretty good though)
