My writing in this guild journal will, most likely, be related to my posts in Gentle Spirits and in the Paranormal/Occult subforum in Awesome Mature Gaians. I promise to not write in paganspeak (I'll reserve that for my Neopagan guild journal).
I will warn any readers, at the outset, that what might be classed as 'paranormal' and 'occult' by many may be classed as religion- or spirituality- related topics to a modern pagan. We know that there are spirits there....at least that's the consensus of many pagans. Yes, there will be many, many qualifiers as 'pagan' is a contentious term, especially among that fractious commmunity.
I am hoping that having a spot to write about studies/readings I might undertake that would be of interest to other members of Gentle Spirits would stir me to keep up my efforts and not just let RL keep me busy on its usual level (such as being a wage slave - I am typing this from my office computer).

As might be gathered from my posts over in the Paranormal subforum, I'm working on psychic talents, beginning with some very useful self-protection. Since my workplace is far and away the most mentally trying environment that I regularly endure I am actively working on a different kind of shielding. I am working on pressing outward with a 'peace and tranquility' bubble. This is a different sort of approach, hopefully a more permeable barrier, than other constructs I have attempted.

I think I have a default 'stealth' mode to get through the day. It is like having a teflon exterior that causes attention to slide right off. Unfortunately you have to leave a 'window' open so that, for example, you'll retain your place in line and actually get your sandwich ordered. Yes, I've been in a deli line and reached the register without anyone noticing me. Today I was reminded that stealth mode has another downside because someone ran into me with a heavy stroller. Hate those things.

he he it can be a fun thing to try at a party walk in some place with stealth mode on, have a seat on the sofa and keep track of the number of people that try to sit on you because they didn't realize you were there. xd

oh, that is too funny....being sat on!
Anyway, my results have been mixed. Some days I am paid no mind and everything runs smoothly, other days it is like someone opened the gates of some hellish region and all the demons are determined to chew my butt.
Home has taken on a new sort of togetherness. Who would have thought that deep-cleaning the bathroom could be a female bonding experience! All because my daughter has moved back in with me, not that she has ever called this house 'home.' All of us have moved but are reunited.
Work hit a new low when my family was sick with the flu; I won't get into details. Things are leveling out a bit, now, but I think I will be avoiding large group activities in the workplace for awhile, at least through the holidays, and not accept any gifting, as it generates obligation and reciprocity. The rock has submerged, can't you see the little bubbles?

An effect of the shielding is also within....Inside the bubble there's my own reality and it kind of leads to the perspective that the 'outside' is an alien world. Much as I would like to understand the conflicted motivations of other people my protection is having a distancing effect. What to do, what to do: feel safe or interact?

Okay, so this is an example of how my quirky sense of humor? willingness to make a point? total contrariness? kind of works. So, with my holiday/winter avi I get invited to a guild that seems to be about avi design, specifically 'angelic' styles to begin with....and everything is white, gold, pink, silver, frothy and light. My response is the current avi, done with 2 Match Girls and the charcoal version of the Macaw. Not all angels have white wings.

I like most animals more than people. I'm sure that says something about me but, also, something about most people, lol.
I wonder how much of my depression this time of year is related to the late-winter allergy onslaught (due to the mold inspired by the cool, damp weather).

There have been ups and downs.....I got to the point where I really had to work on the mental health at work; escape is not an option. [Work, unfortunately, I have found to be the spot in my life where the endless 'pecking order' maneuvering most beats on my brain.] I have my family pictures back up and little sticky notes that say "Happy Pill!" on them. I have a huge collage of southwest scenery, my rainbow over the Grand Canyon pix, Bryce, Zion and Rainbow Bridge. I started an aphorisms list. The latest addition is "Worry is using your imagination to create something you don't want." Got that from my dental hygienist, who definitely has her own issues. I like her.

Yeah. I do the "Happy Pill" thing because it's like a pretend anti-anxiety med (they haven't wanted to give me the real thing). I admit that I have a problem dealing with, well, people!
