Overall he did a good job, not great, but good.
He was thrown at 6 times, caught 5 of them, would of had another catch for 22 yards if there wasn't an offensive penalty on the same play.
Bottom line is this, if the 49ers want to stay competitive in the NFC West against a now revitalized Cardinals team, they need to improve their offense asap.
And though the main problem still lies in their offensive line, Sunday we saw signs of improvement with Crabtree making a nice contribution to a receiving corp ranked 27th in the NFL last I checked, Smith having an impressive day after not starting a game in almost 2 years, and Vernon Davis continuing to break out in his best season as an NFL star and is making a case for being one of the better TE in the league.
I think with the insecurity in the offensive line, the signs of improvement in the passing game Sunday, and Smiths better ability to scramble than Hill, the 49ers need to change their game plan to a more balanced offense than a Run dominant one. They need to go with the QB who gives them the best chance of winning, and I'm not jumping on the Smith wagon just yet, but I think the Offense did have more life to it in the second half of Sundays game than it had all year.
But back to the question at hand. Good first game for Crabtree, lets see how well he can build off of it.

was flipping through the channels last night and there was a blurb that compared crabtree's stats versus DHB. Crabtree's 5 catches in 1 game versus DHB's 4 catches over 7 games.
I think the comparison is unfair (much as I loathe the Raider's dysfunctional organization) because DHB is playing for a team that is unable to muster up any offense. Much to DHB's credit when interviewed/asked about this, he replied (to the effect) that he can't think of what others are doing but that he has to focus on his own play... well said.
Be that as it may, Jets 38 Raiders 0.

I don't think that comparison is as unfair as your making it out to be, Remember the 49ers offense isn't ranked much higher than the Raiders. Last I checked they were 28th in the league, 28th as well in the passing. If Crabtree was receiving catches from a Drew Brees or Peyton Manning in a top tier offense then yeah, I'll agree with you. And though the 49ers offense is better than the Raiders, It's not by a whole lot.

Better QB and few WRs would be their best bet right now.

Crabtree still playing well, not great, but well for a Rookie. If he would have signed at the beginning of the season and contributed since day one, the 49ers might have actually pulled out some extra W's where there are L's right now. And who knows, maybe, just maybe he could have done good enough to be a candidate for Offensive Rookie of the year. But unless he triples his output and adds a plithera of Touchdown catches bewteen now and the end of the season, he can kiss that goodbye.
Overall, he's doing fine for a rookie in his situation, but needs to do better in the seasons to come IF he wants to justify his hold out.

With his impressive play, and Issac Bruce being demoted to make room for improving Josh Morgan so he can develop more, Michael Crabtree has become the 49ers #1 receiver. But even though he's contributed quite a bit in his 4 games, there are two stats he is lacking in that he wants to fix and improve on.
The first, is YAC, (Yards after Catch) Which was the thing he was probably well most known for. And in his first few games he hasn't had the breakout YAC after catches that he would want. The second, is despite how well he's been playing, he is still without his first TD.
We'll see how long it takes before he starts improving both categories.

Crabtree is going to be a force. Comming into the league late and putting up good numbers is a great sign for the 49ers. I thought the kid was an a**, but he apologized and is workin his but off now, so i like him. He needs to find the endzone at least 3 times by the end of the season. Next year will be his break-out year, assuming the QB position in san fran isnt once again a revolving door.
