Purpose: Family
The magick these Essentics employ can most easily be thought of as an analysis skill, a manner of fraying enemy magick/attacks down to the basics, pulling them into a string of iterations and logarithmic loops until they become lost in their own energies. They negate incoming attacks by curving them back into themselves until they run out of power, a very magick-specific cancel. The manner by which they do this is by using fractal magick. They send out magick that analyzes the incoming wave, and devise a specific anti-offense to negate the attack. The more complex/powerful/specific the assault coming their way, the harder it will be for them to undo it, naturally. Another merit to this highly specialized and sometimes fickle kind of negation-shield is also that they develop a keen sense for techniques, and may learn the skills they defend against for themselves without much difficulty.
Needless to say, this makes them excellent at magical defense, and their offense, while not quite as powerful as Magickers', can be highly versatile depending on what they have encountered and learned. They can be a tough nut to crack for all sorts of weaponry, but they are still young and weak, and will always be fallible magically and physically.
The Magick and the Electromagnetic Shields
While they look absolutely identical, and their abilities hail from the same Essence, these two will still have different areas of expertise. While one of them will focus on pure magick negation (Ro), the other will have its strengths in the field of countering all forms of electricity, magnetism, light, really whatever the heck else you wouldn't count to 'proper' magick (Rahk). Drente isn't a part of Star Wars, but by all means, this means the ability to negate laser, electrical defense systems, even electronics and electricity-based magick spells.
Their antennae/ears function as receptors and these antennae are integral to their function as fractal mages. On occasion, these structures may redirect magic and electricity into themselves, comparable to a lightning rod drawing dangerous charges away. This works for both types of attacks, both magical as electromagnetic. There's no telling if that would do them any good though. more | Rahk is the self-appointed leader of the twins. Perhaps due to Ro's inability to speak, Rahk is almost doubly vocal, asking questions and advertising her opinions at a record pace. Rahk and Ro are not opposites. Both are kind to and inquisitive about strangers and both are humorous, Rahk simply tends to be more forceful about... pretty much everything.
When Astan gave the twins their Purpose, it came out as a jumble of feelings and personalities best summarized by the word "family." Rahk took the traits of an annoying kid sibling, as well as many of Astan's remembrances of interactions he had with his former best friend and bandmate, Varis.
powers | Rahk can accurately tell time without a clock and can display digital clock radio numbers between her antennae. She can also harness a respectable amount of electrical energy from the outside (usually from an everyday wall outlet) and shoot it from her hands.

more | Ro might be quiet and more polite than her twin, but that doesn't mean she never gets her own way. At first glance, she appears to be the weaker and more vulnerable Essentic, but she has her own methods for getting things done and is entirely capable of making do without her more forceful sibling or Astan. Of course, that doesn't mean she doesn't prefer to have them around doing all of life's heavy lifting. Ro's perfect day would probably be spent braiding Astan's hair while he and Rahk chattered about utter inanity. Hey, that's every day!

Ro lacks the ability to speak. All orange speech is Rahk's. Gray text is Ro's projected 'speech.' She shares no mindspeech with her sibling, but sometimes, unsurprisingly, they just tend to think alike.
powers | Ro can create minor illusions. They are only "real" in the visual sense and can easily be seen through if you know the truth of the situation and aren't panicking. She mostly uses the power to project written communication when a pen and paper aren't handy.
She can also heal, but only minor injuries and only on herself or Rahk for now, as they share the same 'genetic' makeup.

Ellandra Grady | We didn't talk. From what I saw of her, she was nice.

Kell Galvao | I like that he totally slobbered up Ro! Ha! I asked Astan if we could get a dog and he said no. Pip can't slobber on anyone. I guess he's a nice fish though.
Misha | I am glad we met Misha when we did. Astan needed things explained to him and I didn't really know how to at the time. Since the first time we met him he's changed and now THE SUN shines out of him sometimes! Awesome!
Rhian | Rhian's so nice and pretty!
Uzi | Uzi is the coolest Alter I've met. She always seems like she's going to jump on you even when she's standing still. And she could too, I bet. Jump on you I mean. And hurt you somehow, maybe with a finger to the eye. I'm totally jealous. But then again, I don't think she can see the spirals. That's kind of sad. I'm not sure I'd give up the spirals if there was a choice between that and being a ninja assassin.

influences  drumsticks
Upon being told by Astan how important his first pair of drumsticks was to him, the twins were suitably impressed. If Astan was attached to them, so would they be.
The sticks are made from a dark wood and stained even darker so the grain stands out deep and black. They are smooth and shiny with use and obviously worn where they're meant to be held. snow
Rahk and Ro have known the chill of autumn weather since birth, but nothing prepared them for the delicate beauty of their first snowfall.drumsticks referenced from a google image

RP the Alter's first growth spurt. This is a sudden shift in form that occurs unpredictably.
To get this stage, we set a minimum of four completed Rps. The more, the better for your young Essentic's growth and mental health.
Keep log of your Essentic's desires concerning its form and abilities. During Alter stage, they will fine-tune themselves and polish their influence sets, adding more or suppressing others.
Call in for a checkup with a staff member, either Banning himself, doctor Lecter or miss Longway. If you keep in regular touch with these people, you may substitute this official checkup with an official journal report.
