It was dawn, which meant it was time to get up. At least for Tendaji. He wasn't too keen on this whole "sleeping" thing, even when he was tired. It was dark and strange and terrifying. Weird things kept on happening too - he could fly or he was attacked by giant crickets or he was looking for something that he couldn't find and when he woke up he couldn't even remember what he'd been been searching for so frantically. He could only remember it was something important. Something marvelous, like a feather that would let him fly or a charm to protect him from crickets, or anything, really.
Today he was going to find it. He was going to search everywhere, and it would be hidden, but he'd find it anyways and he'd know it when he saw it. And it would be special and he'd wear it for ever and ever and it would keep him safe. Make him special. Not that he needed it. Why should he worry? He was going to grow up to be a big, strong lion someday.
Of course... there were a couple obstacles standing in the way of his quest. For one thing, he wasn't supposed to wander off on his own. But there were ways around that.
"Izin," he whispered, "Izin, wake up!"

"Huh?" The orange cub yawned, stretching out his back legs as he slapped his chops together. "Is it time to eat yet?" Of course he was in his favorite sleeping position; shoulders on the ground with his rump stretched out across his step-father's side.
He didn't want to get up. Out of all the cubs, Izin was probably the most irritable in the mornings. Mainly because he never got to the end of his dreams. Did the princess survive? Was he stuck with an extra head? And what about that rock monster?! The cub feebly tried to shoo his brother away, but the momentum of his haphazard swinging forced his legs to topple over his head. "Oof! Teeennnndajjjiii, look what you did. I've got dirt in my eye." He whined, rubbing at it with his paw. "Why are you up so early? It's still nappy time~" "Mother had the right idea when she tried to smother us." Abrafo groaned mentally, resisting the urge to cover his ears with his paws. But no, that would only gather their attention and their was no way in hell he was playing peek a boo one more time. Why did he even stick around? Hell, Nia said time and time again that she could do it on her own. If only he didn't lo- if he didn't lo- Well, if he didn't care for her so much he'd be gone by now. Heaven help his own offspring. There was no way he was putting up with this again.
The muscular lion rolled onto his side as soon as Izin flipped off. That kid was really a pain. He didn't mind the snuggling or even the little head rubs, but seriously, sleeping that close was a bit unnerving. He cracked his orchid eye open, watching to see which brat would wake up next. Or worse; if Nia would wake up.

Kamau groaned silently as his precious sleep was interrupted. He had even managed to gain a nice warm position to sleep in. Though the cub silently noted with humor that it was his mother's sleeping embrace that had caught him.
With a small grunt Kamau wiggled free of Nia's paws and slunk towards his brothers. "What are you guys up to?" He moaned wiping his paws against his tired eyes.
A small sound came from his mother and Kamau nearly jumped. "Whatever it is, we should be quiet." He whispered daring to peek back at the form of the black leopardess. "She's sleeping." His eyes went over to their step-father. Was he awake yet from the noise?
Even in her sleep, Nia felt the absence of her youngest son. But with a small sigh, the leopardess only stretched instead of waking. Her body was weary from the cubs constant attention and the strain of hunting for the pride. So she decided to rest while she could. After all she knew that there were others about, especially Abra who could keep an eye on them.

"Izinnnn, be quiet!" Tendaji hissed as Abrafo rolled onto his side. He held completely still for a moment, holding his breath, but Abrafo didn't get up, so it was probably safe to assume he was still asleep. Which was good, Tendaji wasn't too keen on explaining about his dream and his magic talisman. It wouldn't be a proper adventure if there were adults around.
"We're going to go on an adventure," Tendaji said proudly. "It'll be fun."
"Oh," he added in a small voice, eying his mother. It looked like she was still asleep, but how long would that last? Maybe he'd better explain really fast. And not mention it was all based on a dream. "I'm looking for a magic talisman," he whispered, "that lets me do magic things. If you come, I bet you'll find some too. And then we can do magic things and be special. We'll be the greatest!"

Izin scrunched his lips up in a pout. "I dunno, that seems kinda stupid. Are you sure your not still asleep?" He stretched his forelegs out on the ground and shook his rump in the air. Magic did have a certain ring to it. Abrafo spoke of a goddess from his old pride that could do all kinds of cool stuff, so maybe if he got a talisman of his own he could be just as awesome. Maybe awesomer!
Still.. Izin lazily slunk over to Kamau and draped himself over his darker brother. He yawned right in the other boys ear. " I don't wannnnaaaaa mmmooooovvvvveeee." The cub whined dramatically, slinging one paw over his eyes. "I'll go if Kamau carries me, but no dice if he doesn't!"

Kamau just blinked at his older brother. "Magic things?" He asked slowly. "That'll make us special?" The cub tilted his head in curiosity. Exactly what type of things could a magic talisman do even if they found one?
Of course his train of thought was interrupted by Izin. The cub wiggled under his brother's weight, "What am I your slave?" He hissed softly as he took a peek towards the adults. Good so far it looked like his brothers hadn't awakened them yet.
With a sigh Kamau looked to Tendaji, "Can't we just leave this one behind?" He asked grumpily. There was no way he was carrying Izin! Definitely not something that was gonna happen there. Though he was up for adventure, it gave him something to do after all.
Kamau flicked his tail against Izin. Surely Mother wouldn't mind them going off for a bit. As long as they stayed in the pride. Surely.

((I'm really sorry about the long wait guys!))
"It's not stupid," Tendaji snapped, "and I'm not asleep either."
"Yes, magic things," he said, turning to Kamau. "But each talisman does something different. Like let us fly, or or or make sure nothing bad happens ever. Ever! Or it'll make us big, and strong, like mom and dad. Or we can shrink down so small we'll be able to ride on butterflies."
Tendaji considered the situation with Izin carefully. He really didn't want to carry him or anything, but if they left him behind, he might tell mom all about where they'd gone and why. Which meant they'd get caught sooner, even though they weren't really doing anything bad or anything. Were they? No, of course not. "If you don't come," he told Izin, "me and Kamau will find magic talismans and we'll ride on butterflies and be magic and we'll tell you all about it but we won't be able to share. Because that's not how it works, you have to find the talisman and breath on it and say a couple magic words and then it will only ever work for you."

When the topic of Kamau being his slave, the cub just grinned. "Would you be mad if I said yes?" The wriggling hopped him off onto his bum with a huff. His ears flattened back as he pouted. Why did he have to be the one left behind? Kamau was the one acting like a p***k.
He hopped up onto his paws eagerly with the last traces of sleep gone. "I'm coming, I'm coming! I want my own talisman so I can fly with the birds." Izin sighed wistfully. Still, there were surrounded by sleepers. "What are you waiting for? Get a move ooonnn." The spry cub made a pass at his brother's and scurried out the lip of the den.

Kamau's ears flattened against his head, "Yes!" He hissed lightly at his brother. His sharp gaze went to Tendaji with interest. "Different things eh?" The possibilities were endless!
Kamau grinned triumphantly as Izin jumped off of his back. "Good! Then let's go." He replied playfully smacking back at his brother before scurrying after him out of the den. "Hurry up Tendaji!" He cried out behind him as his tiny paws thumped softly against the ground.

It had worked! He could hardly believe it, but it had worked. Wasn't he clever! They were all going to go on an adventure and...
Hey! They were leaving without him! Tendaji scrambled after his two brothers before pausing for a moment at the lip of the den. Did he really want to do this? Of course he did! "This way," he said, picking a random direction. Because, really, there are no wrong directions when it comes to epic adventures.

Izinhliziyo blew Kamau a raspberry and bounced out of his way with a laugh. He waited for his brothers to take the lead before following after. Even though he was faster, smarter, all around better than his siblings he still had no idea where these talisman's were. "What do they look like, Tendaji? Are they really pretty like momma's jewelry? Or scary like the Kings?"
Either way, he couldn't care less if it was made out of dung so long as he could fly.
