Akatsuki is Japanese for Dawn or Daybreak.

The Akatsuki is a criminal organization of S-Class missing-nins and is the most wanted group in all of shinobi world. Their main goal is to collect all of the tailed beasts for their plan of world domination.

Leader: Pain



Abilities: Unknown

Personality: calm, serious, aloof, and detached

Partnered with Konan

Konan (the only female akatsuki member)



Ability:to form paper weapons infused with her chakra.

Personality: stoic, calm, and level-headed

Sasori



Ability: He is considered the puppet master. He uses puppets to fight with.

Personality: impatience,very down-to-earth and shows no emotions

Partnered with Deidara (was partnered with Orochimaru at no time)

Kakuzu



Ability: super strength and speed. can also use the 5 elements.

Personality: greedy, miserly individual, arranging goals in terms of the highest profit he could gain from them, and was often unwilling to involve himself in something unless there was something to gain. He even remarked that money is the only dependable thing in the world.

Partnered with Hidan

Kisame



Ability: Uses water and earth jutus. He also carries around a sword.

Personality: battle-loving, enjoying to fight with others.

Partnered with Itachi

Orochimaru



was partnered with Sasori

Reason for leaving the Akatsuki: It was around this time, that Itachi joined Akatsuki, that Orochimaru saw his opportunity to gain possession of the Sharingan, and soon Orochimaru made his attempt to steal Itachi Uchiha's body. Orochimaru tried to use his Living Corpse Reincarnation, but Itachi used his Sharingan to reverse it and cut off Orochimaru's left hand to prevent him from breaking the Genjutsu, causing him to leave Akatsuki to acquire a new body.

Orochimaru didn't get his follower til after he left the akatsuki. As for Kabuto,

At some point in time, Kabuto was recruited by Sasori of Akatsuki, who sent Kabuto to spy on Orochimaru by using Brainwashing Investigation Technique to transform him into a sleeper agent. Orochimaru discovered this, and released Sasori's control over Kabuto's memories, leaving Kabuto with the option to follow him. With a little persuasion, Kabuto agreed to side with Orochimaru.

Kabuto has since used his experience with spying for Orochimaru, playing the role of Sasori's servant to gain knowledge of Akatsuki's plans.
