"Daddy," Minerva said softly, pointing up. Conan looked over her massive tower of curls, as the girl was in his arms, at what she was pointing at.
"A sweet shop, Minny?"
"I like sweets, Daddy." She said seriously. Conan beamed at the girl.
"Well, I guess we can go, since you've been doing so well with your reading." He said, heading over. He carried her whenever possible. Spoiled little girl. He brought her in and walked to the counter, so she could pick whatever she liked.
"That one, Daddy."

Rosie was just getting off of work and emerged from the back room with Adrian on her hip. She grinned and nodded at the little girl.
"That's a good one. I made those."
She still had her apron on and was covered in a light dusting of flour and splotches of crusty what-have-you.

Minerva eyed the strange colored woman and hid her face against Conan's neck. No!
"Sorry about that, she's kind of shy...."

Rosie waved a dismissive hand at the young man and shrugged.
"It's fine. I was too. It really is good, though. Something like..." she looked at her watch then, "Fifteen minutes old?"

"Minny, that's not polite." Conan reprimanded the girl softly. Minny didn't frown, but she did pull her face back from his neck and eyed the woman again.
"Sorry." She said, sighing. Daddy didn't want her to be rude. She softly ordered the pastry when it was their turn. Hrm.
"So, what else is good, miss?" Conan asked.

"Everything," Rosie said as she took a strawberry shortcake for herself. There was nobody else in the shop save the girl working the counter, so she leaned against the nearest case as she nibbled it.
"Even if I wasn't obligated to tell you that, I'd still say it."

Conan ordered something for himself and gently sat Minerva down. She nibbled and eyed the woman and her boy warily. Different people!
"It is good." She decided, nodding gravely.

Rosie smiled down at the little girl. She loved to hear that what she made was good, from children especially. Of course she didn't choose what she made, and there were recipes, but at least she was doing it properly! She placed a whipped-cream-covered strawberry slice into Anthony's hand and he chewed on it as he stared at the strange little girl and her crazy hair.
He would like to touch it.
"Ehn," he said, reaching out with a sticky, slobbery hand. He couldn't quite reach.

Minny didn't move, she just ate her pastry and stared ahead. If she ignored it, it wouldn't be there.

Except it very much was, and it very much wanted to touch her hair! Seeing as to how the sticky fingers couldn't quite reach Rosie saw no reason to pull her son away, but when she offered him another berry he was too intent on the little girl to even look her way.
"Ehn."
"I'm Rosie, by the way. This is Adrian."

"Conan," The young man introduced himself, "And this is Minerva."
"Hello. Daddy calls me Minny." Minerva looked towards the reaching baby. Hmmm. Was still there, and still icky.

"That's a cute name," Rosie said with another smile, but the conversation more or less ended there. Good lord, she was so awkward talking to strangers. Why couldn't she just make smalltalk like everyone else?!
Adrian suddenly heaved his weight forward then, grabbing a handful of Minerva's hair with a little giggle of triumph. Next came a horrified yelp, though, as he realized that he could not right himself. Rosie gave a twin yelp and only barely caught Adrian before he tumbled to the tile floor. The baby held a few stands of Minerva's hair in his hands as she righted him.
"Jesus Christ..."

Conan stood abruptly to help. "Jeeze-" Ut oh, little guy! "Just about gave me a heart attack!
Minerva probably would've been glaring if she thought Daddy would approve. She contented herself with trying to ignore everything.
Daddy wouldn't want her to be angry. That wouldn't be nice, Minny, and Daddy liked his little girl nice-

"Ffffff--"
That was the sound of Rosie exhaling through gritted teeth as the thought of her baby's brains on the floor got further and further away. What kind of mother was she?
"He touches everything. I can't let him crawl under tables or he eats the gum."
Adrian brushed the strands of hair out of his hand and peered at one that would not budge curiously. He giggled slightly (perhaps from the baby-sized rush of adrenaline) and boinged it. Curly!

"Oh, I was lucky with Minny, she was a good girl." Except for when she would scamper. God, she was so creepy when she scampered. "Here, have a seat." He pulled out a chair.
Minerva eyed her father and reached up one odd, jointed hand to rub her head. Stupid icky baby. That hurt!
"Baby almost fell."
Because every now and then you had to speak, and it was easier to appear dull-witted and repetitive than make Daddy unhappy.
