So, because I'm such a fan of awesome video games, I was reading my latest GameInformer.
I found something that amused me for a second, but then scared me and made me steam-pissed later.

Have any of you heard of the Left4Dead franchise?
If not, there are 2 links posted below giving information on the first game and some on the second game coming out soon.
Left4Dead: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left_4_Dead
Left4Dead 2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left_4_Dead_2

Recently, Valve had a conference to speak with the video game-loving Australia for their sale on this game.

Australia announced that they banned the sale of Left4Dead in it's lands.

You see, Australia's video game/movie ratings are very strict.
Infact, every video game/movie must past their rating system.
Their highest is MA+15.
If something is believed to be too much for teens, adults and all sneaky children are deprived of it.

I find this to be bullshit because you KNOW how much I hate censorship and non-fairness.
Left4Dead, along with some other titles like Risen, is another game put on Australia's banned list.

HOWEVER, they said they will have the game sold ON ONE CONDITION.
They want it censored.

Here are some reasons why they banned the game:
http://kotaku.com/5361301/left-4-dead-2-banned-in-australia-[update]

Some reasons are posted below:
* The game contains violence that is high in impact and is therefore unsuitable for persons aged under 18 to play.

* It notes that this violence is "inflicted upon ‘the Infected' who are living humans infected with a rabies-like virus that causes them to act violently."

* The report singles out the use of melee weapons as those that "inflict the most damage" and cause "copious amounts of blood spray and splatter (sic), decapitations and limb dismemberment… or even cause intestines to spill from the wounds."

* In conclusion, the Board finds that the "interactive nature of the game increases the overall impact of the frequent and intense depictions of violence. This coupled with the graphic depictions of blood and gore combine to create a playing impact which is high."

* Interestingly, the report also reveals that it wasn't a unanimous decision and that "a minority of the Board is of the opinion that the violence is strong in playing impact and therefore warrants an MA15+ classification" instead. However, the majority voted to refuse classification.

Now take most of those out of this zombie-genocide maker and what do you have?
A stroll at Disneyland with some alcoholics is all you have.

Now Grand Theft Auto's censorship was one thing but this is just ridiculous.

Post your opinion on all of this and why you think Australia needs a wake-up call.

( Australia just needs to see a Kangaroo devour a unborn fetus to understand how under-minded it is I guess. Understand that I hate Australia's government, not Australia itself. )

You know, if a privately owned airline owned several thousand cases of left 4 dead, they could potentially drop them out over Australia like little propoganda fliers.

Except they'd have little parachutes...

...And they'd have to be duck-taped closed to make sure that they don't open mid-fall.

Regardless it would be a pretty awesome sight to see.

That's weird Australia's game rating is like America's movie rating a little bit of violence and it becomes R, but Aus movies are like America's games a lot of violence is just fine.

but yeah Australia's political leaders are such kiss asses trying to look "neater" to the other countries and i should know i'm an Ozzy.

Just go over to Peter Garrett's house and ask him to fix it with the power of song. mrgreen

But yeah, that sounds a lot like the U.S.'s movie rating system. Except for us it's sex. Oh, sure, "Saw" is fine as long as you don't show any boobies... stare

Actually, Australia has that rating on movies AND games and they take it seriously.
If there is extreme violence to humans, it is banned.
If there is melee weapon violence, it is banned.
Too much cursing, banned.
America has a better movie rating then this BS.
Atleast we have Postal.
Australia actually BANNED many games and some aren't even close to American movies.
Like Postal...
In Postal, they are offensive to EVERYONE and cats are used as silencers.
In Left4dead 2, you beat up zombies with guns and melee weapons.
The one thing that killed this game was body dismemberment and melee weapons. Take that out and Australia MIGHT accept it. It is a sad day...
