Appearance Description
Kichen is a small, slight boy who looks to be nothing more than skin and bones. Any muscle that exists on his body is very lean, leading towards quick movements rather than any power at all. The boy keeps himself fully dressed whenever possible, prefering light clothing that helps keep the desert sun off himself while breathing so as not to overheat him. In particular a turban to cover his head, the end of which wraps down to cover his face below his eyes before tucking back into the wrap on top. This motif follows through the rest, as he wears loose fitting nomad's robes, with a tight wide sash wrapped around his legs, and his loose leggings tucked into his soft brown hide boots.
Personality
Kichen is a loud, exciteable person at times, throwing himself into action without a second thought, whether that's a mission or merely something he thinks looks fun or interesting. However he is also very fickle, and if something doesn't get him excited, he's likely to act bored and try to avoid acting upon it at all unless forced to. He tends to prefer action to talk or passive activities, prefering to run outside rather than sit and read, and often has a limited attention span when forced to. Oddly he's been noted to sit quietly and watch some small bit of prey or creature in the desert for hours without the slightest bit of boredom.
History
Kichen was always an unmanagable boy. His earliest memories all involved some boring old person trying to keep him down. Academy instructors droning on and on about boring subjects while he batted his pencil around his desk. Trying out new tricks for his yoyo while he was supposed to be reading some dry scroll about the flow of spiritual energies. Running off after a lizard when his drill instructor wanted him to sit still and throw knives at the targets. He was hardly cut out for academy life, and it didn't take long before the instructors drummed him right out, considering him "unteachable" during his first year, lacking the focus and dedication to become a real shinobi.
His family soon took over his training as a shinobi. His particular personality was actually quite common in his clan, and with his parents being highly ranked members they were able to get some of the best of the clan to help tutor him. It all came down to finding out what he actually wanted to do, and playing to those strengths. He loved to stalk and chase, so they gave him practical lessons in that, avoiding dry theory as much as humanly possible. He loved his jutsus and practicing the family style but showed almost no interest in "Traditional" arts. As a result he became a very "natural" ninja, able to act but hardly able to explain anything about why something works, and knows almost nothing to the theory which hampers his development.
When they finally thought he was strong enough, they returned him to the academy to finish out his last year there. It was an ordeal for Kichen, as he was lost in almost every class other than practical applications, and even then lacked some of the basic techniques that other ninja had practiced for years now. How he passed was a mixture of trying to stick to his own strengths when possible, and the influence of his clan to press the instructors into giving him a headband. If he actually had to qualify strictly on the merits other students did... he'd still be there.
Now a recent academy grad, he's taken up the route his clan usually gave starting Genin. Patrolling the Sunagakure graineries. A simple but vital task, and a good source of low risk experience outside of the random mutant ninja rat.

In a 30 foot radius around the user the light dims, daylight appearing as shadows, shadows appearing as dusk levels, dusk as night, and night as near total darkness, etc. The winds pick up slowly, swirling around loose debris, causing plants to shift in the winds and bring a whistling noise to the ears of those who can hear it, if the user is in contact with his pet he starts to take on the dark colored pattering to his fur, blending in with the shadows and folliage that much better. This jutsu does not ACTUALLY do any of the effects, but invades the minds of those nearby through the sound of a light whistling noise that the genin makes as he activates it, the whistle that turns into the noise of the wind on the effected mind as it grows louder. Thus those outside that 30 foot radius are uneffected and see nothing of the illusion.
Chakra Control
Muscle Bursts, using Chakra to temporarily increase the strength of his muscles in order to jump higher, push off into a run faster, etc. All effects are temporary "one movement" types.

Kekkei Genkai (Clan Specialty)
The Taimai clan are ninja pet users. Much like thier ancient rivals and enemies in the Hidden Leaf Village. The Taimai however have bonded with felines, originally in charge of the food stores in the desert village, guarding it from the predatations of vermin and thieves. In the years they developed jutsus immitating thier animals and using them to enchance thier powers, and through thier bond prolong thier pet's life and allow them an emotional comraderie and strong bond.

His fur is quite poofy a thick, even with a bushy squirrel style tail. He is very spoiled, despite the training schedule he still likes his long naps and treats, refusing to leave home without Kichen making sure to pack some. As a ninja cat he is a little more resilient than a normal domesticated housecat, capable of taking some combat damage, though being relatively small isn't going to be able to put a serious hurt on anyone without Kichen's help.
