1/3:
Chane streached and rolled over. It eas earlier in the morning then he usualy rose but that was alright. He'd promised Ylva he'd take a couple of her pups off her paws for a while. She still had two more but never the less it would help provide a much needed break.

"Alright," he sighed as he looked out over the grass. Predators meant they'd have to run.Running meant seeing trouble before it saw them. This little group wouldn't win in a fight.

"We're looking for a certain tree. It's bark can be used to help ease pain," he said to the pups.

Chobi:
Kumo looked off into the distance. He still didn't understand why momma and dad wanted them to go off with Chane. Not that he was complaining, Kumo liked Chane alot. Just, it was not logical in the pups mind to be seperated from his parents if they were still being watched by an adult. Even if that adult was Chane.

Kumo looked up at the lion and nodded. "When you're ready.."

1/3:
Adjoa was more easily frightened and less adventurous then her brother and was grateful for Chane's escort. After all, last time she'd run off alone with him they'd nearly been eaten whole by a huge blue lion twice Chane's side.

Even with the lion's protection she was unsure. Her mother was the strongest adult she knew, no doubt about that.

"I'm ready!" she barked.

1/3:
Chane laughed softly, "I think we're all ready." Stepping forward he began to descibe the tree they were looking for. He wasn't all sure they'd find it on this first outing. He couldn't even identify all the herbs that had been used on him in one attempt and the pups would slow him down.

Finding the tree would be a real stroke of luck indeed.

Chobi:
Kumo listened as if the bit of information was some sacred words only meant for his and Adjoa's ears. So the two got to help Chane today. That made Kumo feel all that more important.

"I got it. So what are we waiting for lets go look for this tree," Kumo got up and started to pad towards a heavily forested area off in the distances as if he knew he was going. Truth was Kumo hadn't the slightest idea. He was pretty much blindly pawing his way to a mystery.

1/3:
"Hold on!" Chane laughed, following him. "Don't get too far a head. Your mother will have my throat if either of you get lost."

Kumo was the more ambitious of the two. He was sure Adjoa wouldn't stray far from his feet but he'd have to keep an eye on her brother.

To be honest he wasn't sure were the tree grew. He'd only seen cut off branches and pieces of bark. As far as he knew they'd pass the tree a hundred times before he figured it out.

Adjoa ran along behind him a while before stopping to huff.

"It's a tree, isn't it? I can't see above the grass, Chane! Lay down so I can climb up on your back?"

It wasn't an unusual request. Chane often let the pups crawl on him and ride around on his back.

Chobi:
Kumo wasn't so hieght lucky either like his sister being a little pup him self. But he gave a proud snort watching as his sister climbed on the lions back.

"I'm fine on my feet," The pup declared giving a toothy grin. "Come one we gotta find that tree Chane. We can't worry who leads who. Now follow me. I know where I'm going," Little Kumo started off ahead again.

1/3:
Adjoa scrambled up onto Chane's back the moment he lay down. To stay on while he was standing up again she bit the fur of his mane and held on tight.

Once he was up she climbed onto his head. He wasn't a large lion but to a tiny thing like Adjoa it was a huge height diffrence. She felt like she could see the whole world.

Chane hurried to catch up to the little Kumo.

"You can lead if you want but just don't get seperated from me, understand?" he was weak. Constantly having to run to catch up to Kumo would agrivate the injury in his leg. A weak leg meant he wouldn't be able to run as fast to escape or fight has hard to protect the cubs. Even it Kumo didn't realize it these were prospects that truely scared the lion.

Chobi:
Kumo smiled up at the lion and his sister on top of Chanes head. "I don't know what you're squawkin about. I'll be fine. After all I like to walk with danger as my friend," He strutted about like a proud little s**t eating b*****d he was.

Danger hadn't actually accured to him. That a rogue lion could easily scoop them up and beat Chane to a pulp.

Nope, little Kumo had a silver spoon in his maw from the time he was born. Ylva was a pretty good provider and over protective.

1/3:
Chane sighed, "Kumo. You can't just worry about yourself. What if we were seperated? Even if you made it home to Ylva fine I'd be out here looking for you for who knows how long."

He caught up with the pup, "It might seem like a good idea now but it's a bit selfish."

1/3:
Adjoa snuggled into Chane's mane. It was soft and thick. In her mind it was the perfect place for a young pup. Naps in Chane's mane were one of her favorite things to do.

For now though, she had something else that needed to be done. Scouting. Determained to spot the special tree before her brother she gazed out over the grasses.

Chobi:
Kumo slowed and gave gave Chane a puzzled look. He was unsure why Chane was being so cautious but he listened. More because if Chane told Ylva he had gave him a hard time then he was sure Ylva would probably punish him or worse... yell.

The put was deathly afraid of an angry Ylva.

1/3:
"Besides, if I hurry too much I'll agrivate my bad leg. Like I said, you can lead the way, Kumo, you just have to pace yourself. Keep with us and I won't have to run to keep up with you," that would be enough to improve their safty.

"Now, you really think you know where this tree is? I havn't been able to properly identify it yet myself..."

Adjoa looked down at Chane wearily, "Should I get off? Am I hurting you?"

It hadn't occured to her before that sitting up here might be causing a problem. When he assured her that wasn't the case she sighed.

"That's good, Chane," she yipped happily, chewing on his hair between words. "I can get off if you need a sleep."

Chobi:
Kumo eyed his sister on top of the gran lions head. He'd only seen one other lion up close and that one had been much larger. Still, Kumo considered Chane big. He was bigger then his parents for one. The hyena snorted.

"Course I don't really know..... But do you either?" He gave the lion a daring smile, "Sides its fun," The hyena slowed his pace but was sure to keep a good spot infront of the lion and his sister. So young and already showing signs of dominance. Kumo, by nature, was a leader.

He continued on his way toward the heavily treed area. Each passing paw step the small trees grew and grew until he couldn't see the sky above. Their branches twisted and obscured his vision of the sky. Kumo had to stop and really look up. Their black twisted branches and heavily leafed canopies made his head spin.

Chane was content to follow the smaller cub. He had no desire what so ever to wrestle a child over dominance. As long as he was safe Ylva wouldn't be tempted to tear his throat out.

He loved the hyena as much as he loved anything. Despite his size she was dominant though, and through her, so was this cub.

"Of course I don't know, I just said that," he grumbled. "We should try to figure it out though. I'm sure there's clues..."

"Like a puzzle game?" Adjoa chirped up, snuggling Chane's mane affectionately. She really didn't care all too much about this tree. Time spent with Chane was time away from the watchful eyes of her parents. Chane was almost as good as a cub in her mind. He'd let them get away with nearly anything.

"What's our clues, Chane?"

The pup stopped to look at his sister and Chane. Clues. They were missing that important piece to the puzzle.

"Yeah Chane, what in the world are we looking for again?" He pup looked up at Chane with big round doe eyes. He was not sure what they were looking for at all.

Chane sighed, he was not really sure how to explain it.

"It has small, oval leaves. Lots of them all bunched up together. I remember the smell of fruit just past it's prime but I can't remember if that was from the tree or not. I remember..." here he paused again, looking around as if trying to find some other clue. "The bark was... Brown? The leaves green?"

Not much help.

Adjoa wrinkled her tiny nose.

"You just described half the trees in the whole world!" In her limited view of the whole world. "Are you planning on searching every tree we pass? You might be big but you're sure silly!" She laughed as she said this last part. The tiny hyena wasn't really convinced of it. Chane was the same as he'd been her whole life. For all she knew, most lions were like this.

Kumo laughed when his sister blurted out just what he had been thinking.

"Yeah Chane, thats like every tree I've ever seen," He grinned up at the lion and his sister. The pup was clearly amused that they were on a needle in the hay stack search. Kumo didn't mind though, it meant more time away from the burrow.

"Lets just start looking at every tree. We can find it if we look at em all," The logic made perfect since to the pup.

"Alright," Chane said, clearly not cluing in to just how futile a search like that would be. "We'll check all the trees on the way to your... Wherever it is you're headed. I'm sure I'll know it if I see it. I just can't think of how to describe it."

He frowned, glancing back toward the den. They didn't have forever and he was getting the feeling that it was going to be slow. At least they wouldn't stray too far this way. He could always hurry the cubs home if they were running late.

Adjoa was laughing so hard she nearly fell off her lofty perch.

"All of them? Are you both daft? We don't have to check the same sort twice," she barked down at her brother. She was starting to wonder if it wasn't just Chane who was a bit short in the smarts department. Maybe all males were.

That would explain a few things.

"Their trees... how do we know whats what unless its a huge difference." The pup snorted. He had never really taken the time to examine trees though to really get the feel for how they were. After all he had spent the majority of his short life safe and underground.

"Lets just start shall we?" He stomped off and started sniffing at trees. This was going to take for ever but he was determined, even if it took days.

((We should wrap this up. They dont need to find the root. We can end it as they begin their search. ))
