Senshi: Sailor Thyone, Senshi of Sprites.
......(Sprites are high-altitude electrical discharges that have mostly recently been known to mess up machinery. They'll usually found above all major thunderstorms, and are accompanied by 'sprite halos' seconds beforehand.)
Name: Zane Faulkner
Nicknames: He refuses to go by anything but 'Zane.' However, various names he's picked up over the years include such things as Shorty and Nerdface.
Age: Seventeen
Birthday: September 13th (1993)
Sign: Virgo
"I Analyze": -- Virgos are serious, introverted, and are actively in the pursuit of more knowledge. They analyze everything put in front of them, from research to social experiences.
Blood Type: AB
Typical Positive Traits: Cool,
controlled (when not in social situations, anyway),
rationalTypical Negative Traits:
Critical, indecisive,
unforgivingFavorite Food: Honestly? The kid loves
Brussel Sprouts, and isn't afraid to show it for one minute. It's earned him some very odd looks, but when Brussel Sprouts are on the menu, he'll pay for fourths.
Hated Food: Apples, really. As a child, Zane claimed to be afraid of apples because their shape reminded him of clowns--kids and their odd associations--but while Zane is no longer afraid of clowns, he still can't seem to stand apples.
School: Hillworth Grammar: Zane's stubbornness has been known to bite him in the a** sometimes, and his "transfer" to Hillworth serves as a fantastic example. In chemistry lab during his sophomore year, he decided that he had found a fantastic way to come to a conclusion quicker. Unfortunately, his little decision would have massive effects that he wasn't exactly expecting...
Despite the fact that the professor told him he would be better off
not attempting to mix those two chemicals together, Zane poured the two chemicals into his original concotion and had to back away to feast his eyes on the small explosion that came afterwards. The explosion permanently damaged his left hand, leaving massive scarring and limiting its motion thanks to the way it healed, along with a few other things in the room...
One thousand dollars worth of equipment payments and five refusals to cooperate with the payments better (the professor never said the bloody thing would explode; therefore, logically, Zane could not be held responsible for the events that had occurred), Zane found himself expelled from Meadowview and therefore enrolled in Hillworth.
...Whoops.
Hobbies: Computer Programming -- It takes a specific type of person to find such a high enjoyment out of programming. Zane, in his free time, will make a point to write random programs just because he can. He loves how logical and straight-forward computers are. Everything about them makes perfect sense to him, and where other people would miss facts such as strings cannot implicitly become integers, he understands it on first glance and doesn't see why anyone would even consider missing such an obvious thing.
He's currently attempting to make a game out of what he has concluded is most fun to play according to research he has done (mostly out of observation at the arcade, admittedly).
Video Games -- He isn't so much one who plays video games for entertainment as one who actually bothers to listen to the commentary that come with some video games. He wants to find out how they were made and what on the inside makes them tick. Zane loves discovering strategies and hidden easter eggs throughout careful observation of every corner of every map, and admittedly, such careful combing has actually made him very good at basic game play. The man can spend hours at a time on one mission, recombing over and over until he has learned every corner and every enemy force, and only find enjoyment in what more casual players would call completely boring.
Synthesizer -- Zane doesn't spend all of his time buried in glowing LCD screens. He also enjoys playing instruments, if one considers a synthesizer an instrument. He knows how to create the odd electronic sounds in many of today's music, and makes a hobby out of doing it all the time. It's a simple pleasure of his in his eyes, but hey, everyone's allowed to have their guilty pleasure, right?
...Of course, synthesizers are an awfully odd guilty pleasure, but he'll never actively acknowledge that.
Rearranging the Room -- Perhaps the only consistant thing he does not usually involving electronics, Zane has a tendency of walking into a room and deciding he no longer likes the way it appears. A hobby usually attributed to house designers and obsessive-compulsive people, Zane insists on changing the way his room looks almost weekly, deciding that it simply doesn't look right anymore and must be changed. He actually seems to enjoy rearranging his room, though, and can usually be found smiling and humming while shoving his bed to the other side of his room.
Gemstone: Sapphire
Virtues: Focused -- When Zane wants to get something done, he'll get it done. The man has concentration like no other, probably developed from hours and hours of pouring over the same mission in a video game until he gets it right, or tweaking a program over and over until it runs the way he wants it to. His concentration is hard to break, and he'll keep his mind from wandering until he gets something done
well.Logical -- Zane is very mechanical, almost to the extent of it being a fault. He sees solutions and logic in even the things that would seem the most random, able to place things in sequence and rationalize even emotional responses to the point of it being a science. He's very good at seeing every step of a process, and finds himself most interested in how things are made and how they get to the finished point, not in the finished product itself.
Loyal -- Despite being hard to talk to and even harder to get to know, Zane's friends are friends for life. He'll never turn his back on those who trust him and those who he trusts, always there whether they need back up or just a shoulder to lean on (though this is Zane, so that's about as much emotional support as someone's going to get from him). Zane's the friend anyone would want; the kind that's always there through the thick and thin.
Independent -- While cripplingly anti-social, Zane has learned ways to adjust and deal without people. (Only further encouraging him to stay away from people, unfortunately.) Mostly keeping to himself has taught him how to fend for himself without having to depend on others support or help, and he manages spectacularly well when left to his own devices. He also doesn't need other people to define him, and he doesn't feel any particular need to belong to any particular social circle, instead more inclined to shed interaction entirely and work towards his own personal goals without the help of anyone.
...Of course, this streak of independence borders on being a massive flaw (See Anti-Social).
Flaws: Anti-Social -- Zane is downright hard to talk to. He runs away from any sort of interaction, preferring to stay in his corner with his laptop and plenty of video games. When he is forced to work with others, he starts sweating nervously and eventually will attempt to run away anyway despite any order he may have been given. He prefers to work alone and be alone, because social interaction only makes him sputter and sweat.
This is actually also a
weakness considering his circumstances. As is, as a senshi, he is completely support-based. His attacks do very little damage overall, mostly temporarily disabling weapons if they manage to do that. He will run away immediately at even the idea of team work, will insist on fighting even the hardest enemies completely and utterly
alone (even if he does get his a** handed to him, it's better than being around people!!), and depending on his current mood, may even run away from battles because he doesn't feel like socializing even in a negative way.
Inability to Sympathize -- A combination of logical and anti-social behavior combined to make Zane a horrible man to come to when it comes to any even slightly sad story. While Zane will offer his shoulder (albeit awkwardly) for a crying friend, asking him for any sort of advice or opinion will only gain either a horrified look accompanied with running, or for close friends, an odd glance and some abstract statement dealing with the 'logical' reason for why his friend is suffering so.
Stubborn as a Mule -- The man is unshakable. While this in some respects is a good thing, it means he won't change his mind on anything even when he's drastically wrong. Zane cannot be convinced of anything, continuously insistant that he is always right and, perhaps, can do no wrong. This has been known to get him in trouble in the past, but he never seems to learn from it, either.
Unforgiving -- Zane is trustworthy, but he expects the same dedication from any friend he may obtain. One wrong step or word gets someone in an eternally large dog house, in some respects. He never forgives and holds grudges like no other, and he'll also be terribly passive-aggressive about it; while completely nice on the surface, all of his words will be tainted with a sarcastic smirk and fiery anger. "The world is functional and our relationship is within normal parameters," is usually a passive-aggressive, snarky way Zane informs someone that he is indeed forever angry with them, and he's not going to be direct with it either.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Perhaps the only stunning thing about an otherwise uninteresting (albeit short) man, Zane's almond-shaped eyes are a piercing shade of
crimson (hex code: #DC143C). It's admittedly an odd feature and has always stood out since he doesn't appear to have low melanin by any means; his hair is as dark as night and his olive skin is just that,
olive.
Hair: Zane's black hair isn't terribly fancy. It's thin-layered and is a little coarse, kept back in a simple rat tail trailing down to about his mid-back. The hair that isn't kept in the rat tail is cut extremely close to his head, so close that even combing it might as well be futile. His hair mostly takes care of itself, besides for the rat tail, which he keeps very careful care of for reasons unexplainable.
Face: Zane's face isn't all that fancy. Rounded, thin eyebrows, a small nose, and thin lips are his defining characteristics, with nothing in particular sticking out except for his eyes themselves. His head is rounded, and while it isn't a particularly 'masculine' face shape, Zane does not appear feminine by any means. If anything, like the rest of him... he seems rather neutral and unimportant.
Fashion: Not a fashionista by any means, Zane is the type that simply doesn't care what he wears. Going for comfort moreso than style, Zane is usually found wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt in cooler months, sometimes with a hoodie, and a t-shirt and loose shorts in the warmer months. His clothes all match as he keeps all the colors somewhere on the greyscale, and therefore never shows any concern when it comes to matching, either.
While he doesn't particularly care what he is wearing, though, the man will usually nitpick at his comfortable clothes to get rid of lint and to make sure he doesn't have the appearance of being sloppy. Despite wearing very casual clothes, Zane has a tendency to look rather clean-cut and formal with the way he tends to every fiber of every shirt he has ever laid hands on.
Body: Admittedly, Zane is a rather scrawny looking thing. On windy days, it sometimes looks like the wind would be capable of carrying him off into an abyss somewhere unseen. Unfortunately, he doesn't particularly get to make up for it with height. Zane has grown to a stunning height of 5'1", the eternal laughing stock of any bully and even a laughing stock of those with Napoleon Complexes.
Zane doesn't really grow much hair, either; the teenager is very clean-cut and clean-shaven at all times, almost to the point of seeming obsessive-compulsive about the way that he makes sure not a thread is out of place. His left hand has a rather massive scar from the chemical explosion he caused in his chemistry lab, and there's a few cuts along his legs from various things he failed to realize, but other than that he really doesn't look like the type who should have ended up at Hillworth.
...Or, hell, even as a senshi.
------- SENSHI -------
Senshi Of: Sprites
Challenge: "In the name of Thyone, I will stop your machinations!"
Fuku Colour: Red and glowing blue. Hex colors coming when I rip them from
this sprite picture.Eventually, I'd like for parts of his fuku to fade to black as that is more fitting for the idea of high-altitude/space, but the first stage can just stay with those two basic colours? <3
Fuku: Bow -- He doesn't have a bow; the two halves of what would be the bow on most female senshi are instead simply held together by a brooch, and he looks more like a boy scout in that respect. The cloth is the shade of glowing blue.
Bodice -- For his first form, he'll basically have the standard swimsuit-type white bodice... except masculinized, because it would be rather embarrassing for him to be running around in a swimsuit after all. It's a bit more like a tight white t-shirt with no sleeves than anything.
Sleeves -- No sleeves.
Brooch -- His brooch, in the first incarnation, is a simple red lightning bolt, nothing particularly fancy or even all that interesting.
Bottoms -- Zane is one of the lucky senshi that only has to deal with leggings (instead of those embarrassing shorts!). They are pure red, with a stripe of glowing blue along the waistline and along the ends of the pantslegs.
Tiara -- Yup, he's got the standard golden senshi tiara. The stone, for the moment, is a simple oval the color of red.
Shoes -- Just a pair of red sandals, really. They're the kind that let the toes stick out and have a small band going over the middle of the foot to hold them on.
Gloves -- Zane wears one fingerless short glove over his right hand. It is red, and reaches to slightly below his wrist. His left hand, the scarred hand, is left uncovered; however, while uncovered, the palm of his hand appears to be circled by a glowing red halo similar to those that precursor actual sprites.
(If this isn't alright just tell me... thought it'd be fun because I'm going to have all of his attacks come 'out of?' his left hand and I didn't want to cover the scarring.)Accessories -- On his left wrist, he is wearing a glowing blue wristband that looks similar to the collars on most other senshi; a simple piece of glowing blue-colored cloth wrapping around his wrist.
Powers[ Basically, his purpose would be to disable the enemy from using their equipment... Sprites are known for making machinery go beserk, not for necessarily doing damage to humans (though I can't imagine they wouldn't hurt!)
All of his attacks are only fully effective on electronic weaponry. While it still has some effects on non-electronic weaponry, the effects are lessened or the duration is lowered, depending on what his primary concern is. ]
Power 1:
"Sprite Glitch!" : Thyone pushes his left hand forward and shouts this as a bolt of red bursts out of his hand and to any equipment his enemy may be holding. This will temporarily cause the equipment to seem to have a mind of its own, twitching and briefly rendering it uncontrollable long enough for Thyone to find some place to hide.
(
Temporary Duration: This uncontrollability approximately twenty seconds.
Dodgable: While the bolt moves quickly, if the enemy has quick reflexes it is possible to move their weapon out of the way.)
Power 1a:
"Sprite Glitch Death!" : Just a minor upgrade from Thyone's previous ability. While the red electric bolt still renders the weapon spastic and unusable, it now also briefly electrically charges, sending painful electric shocks to whatever happens to be holding it.
(
Temporary Duration: This lasts for approximately twenty-five seconds.
Dodgable: Again, if his enemy happens to be fast enough, they can move their weapon out of the way of this. Of course, they'll have to be careful... these bolts can hurt.)
Power 2:
"Machine Beserk!" : Thyone becomes surrounded by a red sparking halo that fades as he thrusts his left hand forward, hand becoming surrounding by red sparks which burst forward towards any equipment or machinery he is focusing his attentions on. The equipment will be lit up in blue and spark. The sparks hurt to the touch and can leave one briefly numb, but the main effects from this attack are on the machinery. Technological and electronic machinery will spark and short out completely, while other equipment will spaz out in ways similar to 'Sprite Glitch,' including the possibility of swinging at their bearer.
(
Temporary Duration: This lasts for a minute to two minutes at max strength, depending on how much energy Thyone draws from himself. Obviously, the more energy, the more draining this is.
Blockable: Anything with a resistance to electricity will be able to at least partially resist the effects.)
