The Vietnamese Buddhist temple down the street is singing some terrible form of opera. I can hear the man's high notes. They have loudspeakers to blast it out into the neighborhood.
AAAAHHH!!! - holds hands over ears-
It's such a creepy place...I've been to a Japanese Buddhist temple in Oakland and it had a different atmosphere - not Christian, but at least vaguely welcoming. This one isn't peaceful or friendly-feeling, even if it is quiet (most of the time) and well-kept-up. And there's a public elementary school next to it. Poor kids.

You know, that may be illegal. Most cities have laws for acceptable noise output, to cut down on 'noise pollution.' At the very least, it's probably disturbing the peace. If it bothers you, you could complain; maybe the police will send someone out to tell them to turn down the speakers. Or to not turn the sound up so high in the future.
...Vietnamese Buddhists are evil? ninja Or is just the singing that is unwelcoming?
