Feel like you're stuck in the middle of a hot steamy ocean of slash?
(and hey, there's nothin` wrong with that!
In fact, it can be pretty darn awesome.)
Need a breather between all that smut?
May I present the the oddity know as General Fan Fiction.
Case!fics, Hurt&Comfort, without the... over the top comforting,
Angst without the break-ups, forgiveness without the make-up sex,
A realm where love between brothers, well, it's just love between brothers!

I'm a bit of a whore for good literature,
so I'll take it any form I can get- including fan fiction.
I'll read pretty much anything the fandom can chuck my way,
but nothin` brings me more enjoyment than a good ol` SPN gen. fic.
I'm making this thread for only Gen. recs-
meaning, anything that does not feature romance as the
most important feature of the story. c:

Here's some I've liked so far:

"Unsupervised Minor" by Visionairy [Complete]
Rated: T
Summary: Pre-series. John’s on a job,
but when an 18 year old Dean has to leave on a rescue mission,
he is forced to leave 14 year old Sam by himself.
When a drunk driver brings Sam to the attention of child services,
the family’s worst nightmare occurs.
Notes: I love me some Hurt!Sam, and pre-series stuff,
as well as stories that threaten the family as a unit.

"Lightness and Darkness" by UThnkUrFunny IThnkImAdorable [WIP]
Rated: T
Summary: AU Mary and John adopt two boys named Sam and Dean,
who have been severely abused and refuse to be separated.
However these boys may turn out to be more trouble than they're worth.
Limp!Hurt!Sam Protective!Hurt!Dean Non-graphic sexual/physical abuse

So, here's some more that I just found~

"Can I Call In Dead?" By Moonfairyhime [x]
Rating: T
Summary: Instead of Sam leaving for college, Dean did.
And when Sam shows up on Dean's doorstep four years later,
finding out that his brother is a psychic is the least of Dean's problems.

Notes: This is an AU fic, in which Dean leaves for school
and Sam is left with John.
However, Sam has developed his "gifts" a few years earlier.
Please keep in mind that this is not the normal Sam you're used to—
this is a bitter Sam who is completely resigned to his fate.

"The Future's So Bright (I Gotta Wear Shades)" By kroki_refur [x]
Rating: PG-13
Summary: It’s Mark’s second month at the New Mexico field office
when the girl goes missing.
Notes: Features a super-sensitive!Sam.
Sensitive as in his powers are off the charts, of course.
Awesome Protective!Dean, and an interesting POV from a outsider.

"Specific Relativity" By gekizetsu [x]
Rating: PG-13
Summary: notquiteright!Sam and superprotective!Dean
hunt for the ‘special children’ gone bad when they’re not hunting demons with their father.
Notes: An AU with a Sam that has been mentally affected by his powers.
I have to LOVE Dean in this story.
Fics dealing with mental issues always get me,
as I know some amazing people with mild to severe mental problems
and have seen their struggles to be accepted.
In this story, Dean doesn't see Sammy as anything less than what he is;
it's very heart-warming.

"A Hiccup in Time" by sammygirl1963 [x]
Rating: T
Summary: The Winchesters go on a hunt for a demigod who can manipulate time.
The hunt backfires on them leaving Sammy in a toddler form with his adult mind still intact.
Can John and Dean protect little Sammy until he is returned to his adult form? Angst/Comfort
Notes: Adorable. Wee!Sammy is too cute.

"A Life Redirected" by Dawn N [x]
Rating: T
Summary: A family tragedy during a hunt redirects the lives
of the Winchester's in a way they could have never predicted.
Will be AU.
Notes: I'm 99.9% sure this is Gen... It's been a while.
If it isn't, I give you permission to beat the shite outta me!

"Aquarium" by skag trendy [x]
Rating: M
Summary: The boys and Bobby land a job at a newly opened aquatic zoo,
where the keepers are mysteriously drowning.
But the friction between the brothers forces Sam to make a decision
that ultimately puts his life in danger.
Can Dean get to him in time?
Notes: Bobby is awesome here,
I have to admit how good he is at kicking Dean's arse into reality.

"Blind, But Now I See" by Kyriebess [x]
Rating: T
Summary: short story where Sam gets a clear revelation
about how special Dean is compared to other brothers.
Then he tries to thank Dean for it, much to Dean's dismay, while they finish the ghost hunt.
Sam POV, hurt!Sam, protective!Dean, minor hurt!Dean.
Notes: Really highlights the brotherly bond between the two,
and how lucky Sam is to have such an epic older brother.

that I'm slowly working my way through-
It's supposed to be for Wee!Chester fics, but it seems more
like... anything pre-series, or with deaged!boys.
I've gotten through the first three pages,
