Kafele had seen more creatures recently then he had in a long time, but they were all the same. Rouges who like him belonged no where, or pride members to busy for the likes of him. Even his waterbuck Sabahive seemed to busy on his own quest for somewhere to belong. It hardly seemed fair to Kafele, he was born to a family...a pride....but they died...he almost died. Maybe if he had, he would not feel so alone and without purpose..And what was a lion that could not fight? And he was quite the horrid hunter, but he got by.
His paws dragged in the dust bringing him once more to the land of the rouges though he was hardly aware of this. Lost in his never ending stream of what lately had been depressing thoughts, the world seemed blank and nameless. Would he ever find someone to care for? Would he ever find his purpose...or place to belong? Only time would tell.

Saharan too had seen many, many new faces of late. The world was wide and frankly amazing, and while she'd been nervous striking out alone at first, she'd soon gotten over her fears. There was simply too much to inspect and explore to waste time being afraid! She had to find something interesting to bring back home to her family, her pride...Some information. She'd wracked her head for ideas on what to look for, but it was so abuzz with things she already knew, nothing seemed interesting or unique enough.
Of course that just meant she'd have to travel farther, look harder, be smarter and...hey. Well that fellow certainly looked under the weather. Maybe he was lost...or sick? Hmm...if he was sick that'd be something she could take back to the pride. Warn hunters and scouts to avoid strangers in this area. With a nod to herself she approached the male.
"Uhm...sir? Excuse me but you don't look very well. Are you...okay?"

Kafele's wars perked and he lefted his head to the source of the voice. "Hmm?" It was a lioness she seemed a little younger then him but not by much. He looked about for a moment wondering where he was before his eyes returned to the female.
"I'm alright I suppose. Inner turmoil not a sickness if that's what your worried about...." Kafele looked about again the land scape seeming familiar. "May I ask you were we are I've not really been paying attention to where I've been heading.." Kafele sat down watching the female for any signs that he might need to be on his way. "Oh yes my name is Kafele." He said with a bow of his head.

Oh darn. It might seem a strange thing to be disappointed at someone's being healthy, but there Saha was. Now she'd need to think of something else to bring back to the pride. Well at least the fellow seemed kind enough, not mean like some rogues, or bitter. She sat back on her haunches, deciding to waste some time with him while she thought some more. "Inner turmoil huh? I know what that's like. Your mind gets wandering from this to that and soon enough you're going 'round in circles trying to make paws or tails of it."
"What? Where we are? Hmm. You know I'm not too sure myself. This isn't any pride's land, but my pride is," She lifted a paw and pointed back the way she'd come, "That way." She eyed the fellow a little longer. Boy did he look tired. Sad too, maybe. "Kafele...I like that name. It's soft, feels good in my mouth. Kafele, Kafele...Oh! I'm Saharan. From the Simbafutaji pride." She tipped her head back at him.
"...Why are you wandering alone? Are you on a quest? Or lost? My pride collects information so...maybe I can help you, if you need directions?"

"Sometimes I think there are no paws or tails to be made of it all. Sometimes it feels rather pointless you know." The lonely male replied with a huff.
"As per usual I suppose, would be shocking if I knew where I was." Kafele snorted annoyed that again he didn't know anything. Kafele licked his paw as he watched the female.
"I'm told by my father that it means worth dying for." He answered shrugging. "I don't really know though....Does your name have a meaning? So you're in a pride? That must be nice..." Kafele trailed off looking to his paws.
"You actually want to know? You want to know about me? Well I've got a bit of an interesting story for you." Kafele said feeling a little better that someone asked him a question. "Awhile ago there was a pride of lions all of them were like me, but they were destroyed by a sickness, I was almost one of them. But as my family died around me a waterbuck named Sabahive found me taking pity on me he took me in. I survived the sickness and spent the rest of my cub hood thinking I was a waterbuck. It was only recently that I learned I was a lion. I'm doing my best to adapt but its not easy to hunt after so many years of thinking I was prey. I thought it best to split from my adopted father and find a place I could belong and learn to be a real lion through and through. I'm afraid my quest needs more then just directions. My quest is to find myself...find a place to belong..do you understand....and I'm sorry I'm sorta rambling." Kafele said looking embarrassed.

Wow...this guy sure was bleak. Saha hadn't run into too many rogues yet in her time of exploring, but most had seemed angry or violent, or wary at least. But none had been so downright sad! "Well this place is just 'The rogue lands'...'The rogue lands west of home', I call it. So that's where you are."
"Hmm. Well it's certainly a nice name. Mom never told me what mine means exactly. Something to do with the desert I think. And yes...my family helped build the pride, so it's a nice place. Right along the sea, there's lots to eat and things to learn about..." She trailed off as the male began his tale. She'd heard of prides destroyed by war or famine or disease before, but never met someone from such a place. Kafele looked healthy enough despite having been near so many who died from something...
"Wait...you were raised by waterbuck? You mean those hoppy little things I see sometime? Like fluffy antelope?" She shook her head. How could something that ate grass feed a lion? Well aside from dying and being eaten itself... "No no, go on!" She prompted him. "I'm used to listening to a lot of things at once. And I won't forget any of it!" She smiled, proud of her skills. She wasn't called 'little kifuko'...'little rememberer' for nothing!
"I suppose if you wanted to learn to be a lion I could help. My pride could, I mean. All the people there are from different places, it's a home for wanderers who want to settle down. As long as you can do something...hunt or fish or tell stories or make things, then you'd be welcome I'm sure. And besides, you should worry about hunting. You're a lion right? Lionesses hunt! But I could help with that too. If you're hungry, maybe we could go catch something together, and see how much you know already?"
Saharan made up her mind to help the lion. He was certainly kind and interesting, and her parents and pride had always taught her to be kind in return and lend aid to those in need. Kafele seemed to be in need.

"Ah at least I won't be chased away from here." Kafele said with a half hearted laugh. His claws dug in and out of the dirt as he looked at the ground.
"I'm not afraid to say that I am jealous of you." He tried his best to smile he wanted to enjoy her company while it last. She was being ever so kind to him.
Kafele's ears twitched at the tone of her voice in reply to what his father was. "Yes, yes I was. I know it sounds off, but he pulled it off. Its silly to think I really thought I was one for a long time." Kafele laughed for real this time. "Though it certainly explained why no one ever wanted to play with me and the females were not interested at all. I also thought all waterbucks were meat scavengers like me. That's how Sabahive fed me anyways. He would hunt down vultures and help me chase them away to eat at whatever was left. I remember Sabahive pretending to eat too though at the time I thought he really was eating."
"You'd really do that for me? And your pride would too?" Kafele seemed lost in thought for a moment before he grinned. " I would love that ever so much. I'm tired of being a lone and feeling like I'm a loser of a lion. Wait lionesses hunt? Why? Males are stronger aren't they?" Kafele asked tilting his head he was utterly clueless when it came to the inter workings of a lion society. Sometimes it was hard for him to think of lions as anything more then brutal killers, though by now he knew that wasn't the truth. "Oh I've got to be able to do something?..." Kafele mumbled looking lost and worried. I can't hunt...I can't fish...maybe I can tell stories or make things...but I've never tried before. I'm a bit hungry but I'm really really bad at hunting you have no idea." Kafele gave her a horrified look. The thought of showing another of his kind how bad a hunter he was was terrifying.

Had Kafele been chased from places before? That was sort of sad. Saha knew well that prides defended their borders, but even her own pride wouldn't chase someone away. Maybe they'd ask them nicely and fight if the stranger was obviously a threat but...well this lion didn't act like a threat at all.
She couldn't help but laugh when he talked about his childhood. The thought of him trying to butt head with one of those big hoofed things was just silly, but in a cute sort of way. "I can understand that I suppose. If they butted at you it might hurt, since you don't have any horns that I can see. And as for the females...well that makes sense too. You know for a lion though you're actually pretty handsome..." She trailed off, feeling her face go warm under her fur, and cleared her throat. "Well it's good that he took such good care of you. You don't look small or anything from not growing up with lions, so I'd say he made a good father. Better than most, even."
"And of course we would! The whole point of our pride is to make those feeling lost and unwanted, or always traveling, feel at home. Some come to rest up before moving on, others settle down for good...you could do either, once you got up to speed on being a lion." She smiled at him, then raised a brow. "Bigger, maybe, stronger, maybe, but you see this?" she reached out to catch her claws in his mane, tugging to show how they could get caught. "When you're tracking and stalking in the brush that'll get snagged on things and hurt. Makes you easier to spot too."
She tried to give him a reassuring look. "I'm sure you're good at something. If not, well...you'll have plenty of time to learn. It's not your fault, really; you just didn't grow up with anyone teaching you these things. I'm sure your father did his best, but you need a lion's touch." She nodded. She certainly felt sympathetic to his fears. "Well nothing can be done to help you until I see what you do know. If you'd like, I can get you something now and then we can go home, to my pride...and you can show me there. Or, you can show me now, when it's jut us two." She got up and butted her head against his on a whim. "I promise not to laugh."
