A few of my female friends have told me repeatedly that, as a male, I am a pervert. It comes with the gender. No questions allowed, it's an irrefutable fact.
One that offends me a lot. In fact, compared to many other my own age (including females!), I'm not really that perverted. Sure, I'll laugh at a sexual joke once in awhile, but who doesn't? And I never say sexual things that would disrespect a woman.
What really grinds my gears is that they think it's okay to exclude me from serious talks (especially about relationships) because I'm a dude. lol I mean, sure, they'll involve our gay mutual friend, but not the bisexual, who is, for all appearances, straight. Ugh.
I think this is really sexist. About 80% of my friends are female and while not all of them think this, it's clear that I'm not treated as an equal when it's just me and a bunch of girls. A lot of the time I'm not allowed to have an opinion at all. confused
What do you guys think?

I agree with you. I hate it when people assume things based on a person's sex.
Ask anyone in this guild, since apparently I've become the sexism police. redface

you're right.
the notion that men are generally "hornier" than women is also untrue.

so retarded you're right. the notion that men are generally "hornier" than women is also untrue. I've heard stories from my dad about how my mom tried to keep sex from him as a punishment only to stop because she couldn't stand it anymore. lol And yes, I totally just shared that with you. Would you like some brain bleach? heart

I can't say anything else or I'll be defeating the purpose of avoiding the topic in the first place. xd

Lol. rofl
First, I think men are probably as dirty as women, but different people show it/are it in different ways.
Second, a man in a group of guys being treated as not equal. Sounds familiar, only from the other side. Happens to women in groups of men, too.
And I once walked in on my parents...yeah...when I was a little kid, too little to understand what was going on. I barely remember it. It was weird. XD

When I get them all together, this weird thing occurs and it's kind of annoying. Part of it might be that they've all known each other much longer than they've known me, but still, it's annoying not to be included. If I'm around and they need to talk, then yeah, they'll talk to me, but if there's someone else around they'll find a bathroom and not pee in it together. confused The sexism thing isn't so bad... it's just annoying that they're so inconsiderate.

My boyfriend and I have the same guy friends, which is why I don't like talking to them about relationship issues. We have mainly the same girl friends too, but they lean towards me so I know I don't even have to say "Can you please not tell him?". I guess we just subconciously stick to our gender. I mean "we" as my friends, not the general population.

I laugh at that. I constantly lie about my gender while giving relationship advice. (It works well and people come to me alot) Simply because they seem to think that girls are better at it. Hell I knew a lesbian once who became bi. Why? I quote. "I was interested in other girls because I thought that they would know how I feel and I could just say how I want the relationship to work out....But lesbians all seem to only care about sex..." XD

Well..... I can't disagree that men are swayed by it more. Aren't guys more pulled toward the physical side, whilst girls are pulled to the emotional?
But, that doesn't make one perverted. A pervert would be one who couldn't control and suppress it. And that's a good amount of people, at that.... More then enough to meet the bare minimum of a stereotype. But that don't make it true about everyone. And those who act like it does are more or less worthless beings.
Oh, and I still need to learn what perversion truly means. I'm on the edge at the moment, which could be far to either side. ..... Or, I 'unno.

It's simply not possible. Everyone is different. I know plenty of men who are irrational, emotional, and bitchy and plenty of women who repress their emotions, hit things, and are impossible to connect to emotionally. So yeah. The whole physical male and emotional female thing is a societal expectation, I think, and not necessarily the truth.

It's not really that way with my friends.
1. Me and all of my friends are pervs. It just adds to the fun randomness of us. *shrug*
2. Me and my girl-friends do sometimes leave out some guys when it's about relationships, but... idk, that's just how girls are set-up, I guess. Not always though. I guess it just depends on the personality? Or something? Not sure...

People can always overcome these traits, but they're still present. You can't base anything off of them, but they are there.

Yeah, this one is an incredibly pointless stereotype. Yes, I am a bit of a pervert. I have sexual thoughts, oh well. I can control the impulses fairly easily (though if someone is dressing deliberately provocative and I'm in the mood, I may not be able to help but look). Would I attribute this to my gender? No. I have the luxury of being in the loop with some of my female friends (and have had some honest girlfriends). I would simply venture to say that most people have sexual thoughts at times once puberty begins. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Personally, I think the stigma towards male sexuality is based on resentment on it having been more socially acceptable (pure conjecture), depending on geographical location anyway, but there's no reason why a chip on a shoulder can't exist in a relatively openminded place.
Gotta say, if those were my friends, I'd bring it up with them (honestly) about what's bothering you and why, and if they continue with the behavior, drop them. I don't think disrespect like that should be tolerable from a friend (or anyone really, but you know, choose your battles and all that annoying stuff).
