The world is nearing its end. The entire globe is bathed in nuclear energies from World War III; entire countries have become wastes of black glass and dead vegetation. The seas are dead, the skies are a sickening green, and food is scarce. Through the combined efforts of radiation and evolution, mankind's DNA has been fused with animal matter. Everyone is now at least 30% animal. In a world where instinct and intellect function on equal terms, all are just trying to survive.

Most technologies are still intact, if they haven't been blasted. Ovens, clocks, and refrigerators still function. TVs still work, but it is rare to find a channel on the air. The radios yield only static. Money bears little relevance any more.

Worse; weapons of all kinds have remained intact.

Drugs of medical nature are rare; drugs of recreational nature are everywhere.

The world is a much darker place than it used to be.
