Roheth rumbled appreciatively and leaned into K'han's hands as the weyrling rubbed oil into his hide. The bronze dragonet's eyes were a deep, serene shade of blue, and sleepily half-lidded as he enjoyed the soothing, rhythmic motion of the oiling. It was an unusually pleasant day, warm enough that K'han had stripped off his shirt to avoid getting oil all over it (one of his favorite tunics would never quite recover, although he'd wear it anyway, just not in front of anyone he wanted to impress). They'd found a comfortable spot on one of the grassy areas around the Weyrbowl, and settled in to complete this by-now-familiar ritual.
And Roheth certainly needed a lot of oiling. Perhaps it was K'han's imagination, but it seemed like the dragonet was already bigger than he was when he first hatched. And he'd certainly continue to get larger and larger! It was no wonder, really, that dragons needed constant care to keep from growing right out of their own hide. Roheth was not a complainer, and rarely pestered K'han about anything, but the bronze was not so stoic as to refrain from rubbing itchy portions of hide against whatever was available to scratch them... So they'd developed a bit of a system; the sound of one of K'han's possessions falling over was usually a signal that it's time to get out the oil again.
By the time he was close to finished, the multicolored hide was gleaming under his hands, and K'han took a moment to gaze at his bonded partner with a little bit of pride. He really was a handsome dragon, well-proportioned, a fine color with the striking dark bands on his wings. How did a weyrbrat get this lucky, that he'd gotten the chance to follow in his father's footsteps?

Amelia was on her way back to her mock weyr with Sharath in tow after a long lesson and was tired. It was surprisingly draining to be tutored in the ways of the weyr and her eventual position as a Junior Weyrwoman... almost so much so that the youth rather missed the hard, honest work of the tunnels. Something had to be said for the physical labour - it kept your mind clear and your body strong... and Amelia had little interest in perfumes and scented candles and cosmetics.
Dropping her hair from her customary bun, the goldrider's wavy, rich hair fell around her shoulders and framed her face well, bouncing slightly with each step. With the bun gone, it was easy to see a goldrider and not the excavator she'd once been. "Mn, Sharath, I want to work on something... I miss working with stone. Is there anything you want?" She'd already altered the armoir in her room to have more sections for clothing and supplies but there wasn't much else for her to do to keep her hands busy.
Mnn... I am fine, Mine. That room is temporary right? When we move into our proper chambers I will think of something, okay? Not a greedy dragon, the gold whuffled fondly and nudged her head against Amelia's shoulder, letting out a content sigh when she set a hand upon the dragon's head.
"Okay. But I'll have nothing to work on until then..." She frowned as she glanced around, "I wonder if anyone else needs something small?" It was wistful and not entirely earnest as they moved along, eyes playing over the Weyrling Barracks.

K'han stood up and stretched; despite himself, his shoulders were beginning to protest at the repetitive motion of rubbing oil into dragonhide. I am fine for now, Mine, you should take a break. Roheth likewise stood and stretched, flexing his wings and casting a brief glance over the patches of membrane that had been dry and itchy before.
"Hey, it's no problem. When you're grown, I'm gonna have a lot of dragon to oil and wash, so I should get the practice in now. Plus, it's good for the arm muscles!" He mock-flexed, then laughed aloud, throwing an arm around his dragon and pulling Roheth close for a moment, then letting go.
The two spotted a familiar pair moving at nearly the same time, but it was K'han who hailed them. "Hey, Amelia!" He waved cheerfully, immediately starting to head towards her. Roheth matched his stride just behind his rider, eyes brilliant blue. K'han hadn't had much opportunity to talk with her yet, outside lessons, but hopefully that was something that could change. She seemed like quite the strong personality, and that was something he could respect, even if her dragon seemed a little... forceful. "Something wrong? You look like you've got a lot on your mind."

Amelia looked up when her name was called, face immediately brightening when a title wasn't attached. Gaze quickly scanned the area and settled on K'han and his bronze, waving to the approaching pair, "Hello! Me? Not really... I'm just tired. Lessons are lessons after all and there's so much to learn - I basically had to start from the beginning." She smiled when K'han drew close enough to pat on the shoulder and did so, "I was just asking Sharath if she needed anything - I've been missing my craft and I don't want to get all rusty... but the queen, surprisingly, doesn't want anything."
Poking a bit of fun at her dragon ellicited a snort of 'ha, right' from Sharath as she returned her rider's gaze with one equally as pleasant. The dragon's attention, however, did not linger overlong on the humans and shifted to the bronze before her. Roheth! Greetings. Yours has done well by you, your hide shines this day. How have lessons been going? I have been treated to mostly human things in them... is that what you are taught too?
