im not usually a pessimistic person when it comes to one piece but unfortunately, I've thought this since the beginning of the arc, for a few reasons. First, because it will give luffy a strong reason to actively fight against the world government, not just when their paths happen to cross.
A second reason is something thats been built up throughout this brawl. Words along the lines of "Whoever wins will become justice" and "A shot at the top of the world" have come up in several different variations from different people. If the pirates win now (aka, save ace), they will be at the top of the world above the world government, and having that happen halfway through the manga just doesn't make much sense to me.
Just my two cents on the topic, this is Oda after all, who can predict what he does next?

I see Ace being saved. When he says whoever wins will rule the world he's refering to Whitebeard I think. He's the strongest pirate in the world and Ace was jus what he needed to finish him and his crew off.

Well, they won't kill him until cameras are cut, so if Buggy holds on to the one he's got, Luffy might make it in time. As for Whitebeard.......

ace can't die. he or luffy will have to end up as king of the pirates. as for whitebeard being stabbed i think he came up with this idea. don't how though.
