Steken glanced over at his sister, a sly expression on his face. He'd gone off before without her realizing and he could do it again, he was certain of it. At no point did it occur to him that she hadn't been giving him her full attention on said previous occasions. If she had, it may have occured to him that it wouldn't be so easy now that she was.

Grinning like a fool he turned his back on her.

"I'm gonna go get a drink! See you later, Azsh!"

Sighing softly she got up to follow him.

"Again? You've already walked too and from the watering hole three times today, brother," frankly, she was getting tired making the trip. All this time and he wasn't cluing into the fact that he wasn't about to duck her attention that way. He'd keep trying though. He was stubborn and they'd be going back and forth all night if she didn't distract him.

"Could we go somewhere else, please?"

Steken grumbled, "I don't wanna go somewhere else. I want a drink!"

Really now! Did she think he was that easy to distract?

"I'm thirsty Azsh and I'm gonna get a drink!"

She could be so selfish sometimes! Did she really have to watch him so closely? They kept saying he got lost too easily but he hadn't gotten so lost yet that he hadn't even be able to find his way home. All he wanted to do was have a spot of fun. Why did she have to be so selfish?!

Azshara furrowed her brow in thought. Ok, so he wouldn't just take her suggestion. That was fine. Sometimes he did, sometimes he didn't . There were other tactics she could employ. The easiest idea failing didn't bother her much.

"Oh little brother," she cooed, "I have an idea. Can you guess what it might be?"

"What?" he grumbled.

She could be such a pain sometimes. Mal was much, much more fun to be around. It was a pitty she'd been acting so strange, so distant lately.

Mal used to talk to him, tell him stories and follow him around the Savannah without a single word of complaint.

Azsh, well, Azsh just had to have everything her way. It really grated on his nerves.

"Well??" his patience was wearing thin.

"Well, I've been dying for a game. Want to play a game with me, little brother?" it was a no fail stratagy to get his mind off whatever he'd fixated on. Games, games or hunting. He'd take the bait every time. It was almost sad really . If she didn't know how happy he was she would have felt terrible for him. But in his case ignorance was truly bliss. He was happy even when everything was going wrong. In a way she'd come to rely on that.

"What sort of game?" he was suspicious, but not so suspicious that he wouldn't hear her out. "It had better be good. Is it good, Azsh? Azsh? Is it tag? Are we playing tag?"

She hadn't said a word more and he was already smiling again. Games were good though. Games were very good. There were few things he'd rather do then play a good long game.

"Not tag," even if it wasn't his intent tag would give him the oppertunity to run and hide. No, she didn't need the added stress of tracking down a wandering brother. Not on top of everything that was going on with Mal. Her siblings were a handful. Sometimes she wondered how they managed to stay together at all.

Then again, if Mal was right their family was about to get a bit bigger. It would have been welcomed news except Mall seemed to be hiding something. Her little sister never hid anything and that made this especially worrisome.

Steken didn't know yet, and that was for the best. If something happened and Mal was wrong or couldn't carry her litter to term then at least Steken wouldn't be disappointed.

"What then?" he asked, pounding his front paw on the hard dirt. Her failure to provide a quick answer had him frustrated. A game was good. Much more interesting then watching Azsh sit around and... what exactly was Azsh doing when she stared up wt the sky anyways? He didn't get it. The most he ever saw up there were birds. Birds too far away to catch and thus birds that didn't interest him in the least.

"Are we playing hide and seek, Azsh? Is that what we're playing?"
PostPosted: Wed Oct 21, 2009 4:35 pm

She frowned, that was worse then the first option. Not only would he be running but he'd be out of her sight too. Well, if she hid better then he usually did he'd be out of sight. What to play though? That was the big problem. He wasn't good enough at logic games so that was out. He'd only get frustrated and difficult. Similarly, word games were out. Her 'little' brother had a hard time with even the simplest rhymes.

She had to choose a game that would keep him close without making him mad.

Grinning a Cheshire grin she lowered her head, widened her stance and looked up at him.

"Let's wrestle."

Steken nearly lept in the air with glee. She was going to play with him! She was really going to play with him!

Mal played with him all the time but Azsh hadn't played with him for many, many nights. Then again... Mal hadn't really either. She'd been all mopey and was keeping to herself most of the time. He hardly had any play time at all.

Growling playfully, he mimicked his sister, lowering his head and widening his stance. There was no guarantee he'd win. He was strong and good at this sort of game but he really didn't want to hurt her. That thought held him back, and stopped him from doing the best he could.

She understood his hesitation when it came to the games they played. In fact, once again, she relied on it. If he ever tried to defeat her with only his strength she would loose the game and more then likely she'd have some pretty nasty scars to show for it. And that was the optimistic outcome.

She shifted her weight carefully, keeping her brother in her sights. She'd let him pounce first. He'd like that. Besides, really, it was all about pleasing the big blue oaf. An amused Steken meant he wasn't being difficult and things were easy. That was never a bad thing.

He didn't understand basic tactics when it came to one on one battles with another lion. He could hunt, but playtime aside he'd never had neither the need nor the opportunity to fight. He didn't know to watch her feet for clues on her next move. He didn't know to wait for a weak stane from Azsh.

When he wanted, and for no other reason, he pounced. His mass hit Azsh in the shoulder. Despite her side stepping she was forced to back off. His weight was just too much, even if it was only a glancing blow.

It would be hard for her to keep up with this sort of game for long. When Steken was gentle he was still rough. Even dodging him was hard. His body was nearly as fast as her's. The only slower factor was his mind.

She'd heard tell of gods who dwarfed him in comparison but it was still difficult for her to imagine that much bulk.

She side stepped another attack and then charged forward with an attack of her own. It caught him off guard and despite his superior weight he was forced onto his side. She leaped on top of him, biting him gently. Teeth only brushing against his fur.

He mimicked her, pawing with sheathed claws nibbling on her tail. He'd never understand just how grateful she was for the care he took when they played.

The greatest dissadvantage to his bulk, even if he wasn't aware of it himself, was his low stamina. They'd only been playing for a few minutes but already he was wearing down.

Still he pressed on, ignoring his tiering muscles to try and take every last moment of play time he could get.

With the low level of attention he'd recived lately there was no telling when either of his sisters would want to play with him again.

"Let me up!" he laughed, pressing his paws against Azsh's chest. "You're tickling! You're tickling! Let me up!"
