Rory trotted the horse around the corral, having missed the familiar gait of Kettle while at the Katans. Sure, Mrs. Katan's horses were beautiful, but they weren't Vanners. He led Kettle through a few easy tricks, the horse dancing around, before signaling him to go at full gallop around the corral.

They certainly had missed a lot while they were gone, hadn't they? Lee pondered as she walked over to where Rory was, having just been filled in about the goings on and babydaddy drama of the Grady family from Anson. Well, at least she was caught up. There were things she and Rory still needed to catch Ellandra and Faolan up on, though. Like, oh, say, that they were getting married. Then again, she was sure the news had gotten out by now.
Hopping onto the fence and watching Rory with a dull smile, she wondered when she'd find the time for both of them to discuss the news with her big brother and sister. Then again, perhaps she should wait to see if there was any reason to worry about a baby growing inside of her...

Rory brought the horse over to the fence, grinning at his girl. "Hey, lover. Come t' see me wi' th' horses?" He leaned over to kiss her.

"Just talking to your dad a little." She smiled up at Rory, very much appreciating the kiss. "I wouldn't mind seeing you with the horses, though," Lee grinned, kicking her dangling legs a bit under the fence.

Rory grinned. "I wis just exercisin' me lad, but I'll be workin' a few o' th' others later if you wanna watch." He backed Kettle up and signaled the horse to give Lee a bow then gave a command in didikai, the horse rearing up and turning to gallop across the corral.

Lee just giggled for Kettle, smiling up at both Rory and the horse as they galloped along. He was a lot happier now, wasn't he? She bit her lip as she watched, feeling a bit horrible that he'd have considered leaving this job for her, if that had been what she wanted. Why would she keep him from doing what he loved?

Rory took Kettle back to the stables to let the hands take care of him while he went got the other horses ready. He settled on a yearling Vanner called Frostbite's Mercy, leading the young mare to the corral. He gave Lee a grin as he passed, bringing the horse close for her to see, Frostbite looking at the girl with blue eyes not unlike the eyes of the boy leading her.

Smiling softly to the horse, Lee reached out a hand to pet her nose, giggling a bit at the slight resemblance between the horse and his rider. "You gonna show me any tricks, hm?" she asked the horse, only glancing up at Rory for a second.

"You wanna see a few, eh?" Rory asked, leaning over to kiss Lee, still holding onto the horse's lead rope. Pulling back, he led Frostbite to the center of the corral. A serious of commands through didikai words and hand gestures and the mare was on hind legs, walking and dancing. She came down and ran circles around Rory as he kept hold of her lead rope, turning to keep an eye on her. He had her leaping and dancing about. Clicking his tongue, he signaled for Frostbite to come to him, he led her back to Lee. "She's a smart one, too. Frosty, love, what's two plus three, eh?" The horse pawed at the ground with one hoof, tapping five times.

Grinning, Lee clapped a bit for the horse's show, looking as impressed as she was. She couldn't help but find Rory's calling the horse "love" adorable, but was more interested in how Rory taught a horse to do simple math. "You're smarter than me, Frosty..." she laughed, balancing herself on the fence.

Rory grinned at Lee, clearly in his element. He was sweaty and dirty and couldn't possibly be happier. "You can ask her t' do a math problem, too, if you want. She can count up t' twelve."

Wow. This horse was getting more and more impressive. "What's four plus three, Frosty?" she chirped, waiting for the horse to show off its intelligence.

The mare pawed at the ground seven times then looked at Rory and nosed at the boy's hair. He batted her away good-naturedly, grinning at Lee. "She's still learning her colors and shapes, but she's pretty good with the physical commands."

When would this ever come in handy during one of the shows? Perhaps Rory was just teaching colors and shapes for the fun of it. Seemed like something Rory would do. "Smarty pants," was all she said to the horse. She noticed Rory wasn't exactly clean, and resisted the urge to hop over to him, instead just smiling and kicking her legs idly. This was much less fun than Rory hugs...
