Just because I was stupid, and I want to know:

What are your steampunk related injuries?

Personally, I have now racked up:

getting my hand caught between gears, having a steam burn on my hand (and my art hand, none-the-less), Having a hot glue gun burn on my finger (acquired just now ><) and sewing a finger to the skirt I am crafting. Well, not literally, the needle went pretty deep though.

I've poured boiling water over my hand.(not quite related, but worth saying.)

I've stuck a needle through the skin between my thumb and index.
Nearly had my hand get caught in a sewing machine,
Cut myself with scissors,
Burnt myself on steam.

I always come away from the joys of sewing with a colourful selection of minor injuries! Yet I keep going back for more!
Also, although it isn't really a craft injury, I have a nasty habit of spilling boiling water while making tea.

And there was that one time when I almost fell into the beam of Van Heller's death ray...

none of my injuries are "Steampunk" so to say...

however, my worst is my shoulder. i was on my bike, speeding downhill down my road. it's L shaped... usually i can just lean into the corner and come out the other side without having to slow down at all.
well, i leaned into the corner, just as a pick up truck practically sped out of a driveway just round the corner (young street racers who live on my road own it).
i threw myself the other way to avoid having my head taken off by it, and instead went flying into a large pile of brick rubble on the other side of the road. my bike was totaled, the impact smashed my helmet in, and was enough to knock me out cold for a couple minutes. i woke up, still lying in the rubble, with the foreign couple that lived in the house i had crashed into taking photos of me! not bothering to help at all!
as i tried to stand, i realised that my arm wasn't responding. i looked at it, and the shoulder was a gore-y mess. there were spiky chunks of brick stuck in it and everything... lovely...

happy ending though, i went to A&E, got my shoulder fixed. then went to the local bike shop and sold mine off for parts exchange towards another bike i had my eye on, which i bought.
so now i have a new bike (a much better racing model too!), a scared shoulder, and a LOT of money from the couple who left their remaining brickwork lying on the path on the corner of the road (my parents filed against them)

Mine's not much. My first injury SteamPunk- related was today, though. :'D
I was doing some embroidery and I kept stabbing my finger with the needle. Eventually I got clutzy an pushed the needle through the front of my thumb.
I got a cog and some chain done, though.

Seems like most of us have been stabbed with a rusty needle or two at some point in time. I haven't sewn anything in a few years, though. I do need to fix that button-hole on my shirt, now that I think of it.

I've been scalded by boiling water and/or steam several times. One time, I had a hot cup of instant ramen (Cup Noodle specifically) sitting on a table, undisturbed as of yet. That is, until I accidentally knocked it over INTO MY LAP, causing an intense blister and a rather frantic rush to the bathroom to de-pants myself while getting cold water. I actually had to see the doctor for that one.

And countless times have I been boiling or steaming something for food purposes, and underestimated the force and heat of steam shooting out when you remove or move the lid.

AND, I almost got a toe ripped off in the gruesome workings of a bicycle sprocket-n-chain mechanism. I say "almost" because it was a very minor pinching sort of injury, nothing serious.

I'm constantly stabbing myself with needles when i'm sewing things. You'd think i'd buy a thimble or something... i must be some sort of masochist. And while i've gotten myself a few steam burns in my life, they were all cooking related. lol

I've had severe dysentery, a disease fit for pirates. I had to stay in the hospital for three days, it wasn't fun.

seeing as this has been necro'd. i might as well add something new to it.

at work, whenever you get injured, you have to cover it with a blue plaster, this shows clearly that you have an injury. (also, they show up if they fall into any fresh food we are selling... ewwww!)

ANYWAYS, moving swiftly on. i was working on the Wines and Spirits aisle the other day, and i dropped a bottle of vodka... i was stupid enough to attempt to catch it, and now my hands are a mess of blue plasters. (none of them are bad, they look like small paper cuts, but i need to have the plasters on anyway... store policy) i look like im wearing patchwork blue gloves when i go to work.

luckily, I'lm not very prone to accidents, though I have had a few minor incidents. The first was when I was in 8th grade. I almost busted my jaw open on out trampoline. It was swollen for 5 days after that. The other one was a few months ago. I was cleaning out the deep fryer, wasn't paying attention, and touched the spider to my right forearm. It stung for a few seconds before I realized what happened. The scar is just now starting to fade.

Well, like most, I've experienced the needle through the finger (also sewed the side of my finger to a skirt during a school project.) And many times I've burned myself with steam. Mostly cooking though.

Though more recently, I was taking apart computer parts to get the wheels and cogs (Don't worry everything was fried or dead). I wound up slicing up my hand on a few sharp parts.

I accidentally stitched my fingers together trying to sew and had to get the string snipped.
