Slowly, Mut picked her way through the brush. The darkness around her almost made her feel blind, as the thin sliver of moon cast very little light. As a wind blew over the land, she shivered just a bit, momentarily marveling at how it was much cooler this far north. Was the whole north of the world cold? She didn't know.

Jumping down a small drop, she silently wondered what would hear the jingle of her jewelery, hoping to whoever was above that maybe Paki would hear it. She missed seeing his smiling, fluffy face. He'd probably not be cold here... Or not as cold as she was. For some reason, her coat was much thinner, as if suited for a life in the desert. She paused, closing her eyes to listen to the world around her.

It was true that Paki could hear quite a few things and that he was rarely ever cold, but Paki was so far away from everything that he'd known once again. It was just like when he'd left the unity walkers. Only now he was getting into chillier climates and he wasn't sure where or what he'd walked himself into.

But Mut's scent lead this way and Paki was willing to follow her anywhere she went.

Only now, years after he'd started searching for his sister, did the large lion finally realize that he'd spent the majority of his life hunting after females.

A small smile spread across his muzzle and the fluffy lion shook out his fur loudly, the sound of tinkling jewelry and accessories clinking and dancing together.

A smile graced the peach-brown lioness' face as she opened her eyes. With a rush of paws, she hurried to find Paki. She knew the sounds of his baubles and items, knew exactly what he sounded like. In the darkness, she relied upon her ears and sense of touch, not trusting her eyes. For the moment, she was on Paki's level, on the same level as her litter brother, and probably many other lions.

Brushing past a bush, she set her necklace to jingling, creating her own sounds, her own beacon of noise. Maybe Paki would find her, too, in the darkness they currently shared.

The silvery/blue eyes that stared out behind the massive mess of mocha mane blinked once without seeing. The scent of the female he was following suddenly flooded his nostrils and made them flare out slightly, his ears flicking around desperate to hear some sound that would let him know she was around.

Unlike most lions, Paki didn't have the differentiation of light and darkness other than the feeling of the hot 'sun' leaving his fur. When he felt the coolness of the commonly known night, Paki didn't know that it was dark, he just knew it was cooler.

Now it was constantly cold and he couldn't associate the heat with sunlight. He had to rely off of something else to help him and he wasn't sure what it was going to be.

"Mut?" His voice called out shyly into the darkness at hearing her necklace jingle. Hope filled his voice and the fur on his body puffed out to make him look more like a bush than normal. Everything on his body jingled all at once and he felt like purring from joy as her scent got stronger and swarmed over his body.

A smile lit on his overly furry muzzle.

Like a song on the wind, Paki's voice reached her ear, along with the jingle of his baubles. He was so close! Trusting in her ears and soon her nose, she hurried towards him. "Paki!" She paused, nose twitching, ears swiveling everywhere. When she heard his decorations again, she corrected her direction. She'd have to find a baboon to tie a piece of something over her eyes some time, this was actually fun navigating the dark with no eyes!

His name sang out across the darkness of his own eyes and made his heart swell. Instantly Paki dodged through whatever surroundings were throwing trees and bushes at him and ran towards the source of Mut's scent.

Chocolate paws hitting the ground hard, Paki could hardly believe it when suddenly he had to come to a stop to avoid running fully into Mut like an elephant into a tree. His back arched as he kept himself from falling on her and his toes curled in the dirt. All of his fur swung and waved in the wind, the small bell on his right ankle jingling in an almost haunting tone.

"Mut." Her name came out in a heavy gust of joy and exhaustion.

It almost felt like tears were going to run down his muzzle but he held them back as he sniffed gently at her, whiskers puffed out as if to understand what she looked like.

It was a welcome sensation to run into Paki. Mut felt like burying herself in his long fur, never to escape it. A purr escaped her throat as she nestled into him. "Paki... I wish you could see the smile on my face..." Not that she could really see the smile on his face. The small lioness kept her eyes closed, smile still firmly in place. There was nothing that would pull her from this moment, this single moment of pure and unbridled joy. As she nestled, she let out a happy sigh, allowing her to fill her nose and lungs with his scent. It was euphoric to her.

"I don't need to see it, I can feel it." Paki said softly, his whiskers puffing out against her face. He could see with touch, he could see without really seeing.

It wasn't enough when it came to Mut, but it was enough when he realized that he would never really see. He could feel her, know what her silky, soft fur felt like and what her smile looked like when his whiskers painted the picture for him. It was just like his ears and his nose painted the picture of the world around him.

A paw wrapped around her shoulders when she nestled down into his mane and Paki nuzzled the top of her head, still amused that there wasn't a puff of mane there like most lionesses.

"I missed you so much Mut. Please... please don't leave like that again..." Paki's normally bright voice cracked with emotion when he remembered searching for her and being told she was gone. His heart had shattered and it felt like he was only now finding any of the pieces.

She had heard it, unmistakable in his voice. That crack... "I promise I won't, Paki." She nuzzled into his mane, feeling it envelope her. "I thought you were behind us, I really did... When I didn't see you, I got worried... But a part of me knew, you'd find me again." It was no excuse for leaving him behind, though. "I think I'll find a baboon to tie us together... So we don't get separated like that again!"

Wraping his other paw around her hips, Paki kissed the top of her head shyly and softly, worried still that she wouldn't want anything of him despite how he felt for her. She was the first solid female force he'd had in his life since his sister had left for the Pridelands so many years ago.

His heart throbbed when she snuggled against him and he sighed softly against her neck. Content for the first time since he'd gone searching for her.

Normally he would ask himself why the females in his lives kept dissapearing, but he was praying that wouldn't happen after this.

"Baboon...? What can a baboon do?" Paki asked quietly.

"Baboons have thumbs that can grip things. They can tie us together so we don't wander away again." It wasn't an entirely serious solution, really. "This is a permanent place, though. I'm confident of this." She rumbled against him, eyes closed as she enjoyed the contact. After a moment, she pulled back, sitting up and running her tongue across his nose. "So is my love for you, Paki. It's not ending, it never will."

Thumbs sounded amusing, especially since the only 'thumb' that any large cat had was the dewclaw on their front paws and that was just for holding onto prey. A shrug came from him, rocking his overly thin body beneath his profuse fur.

Maybe now that Mut said this was a permanent home... he could finally hunt and put some weight on his body. He was sorely in need of it ever since he was a cub and had started walking to find his sister.

At her lick, Paki felt his cheeks burn through his pale fur, tinging it red though he couldn't see it himself. Both of his ears flicked forward and the large lion kissed the gorgeous female before him on the nose.

"I love you Mut, I don't want to ever let go of you." Paki purred deep in his large chest for her, emphasizing his words by pulling her a little closer with a mischevious grin.

Nestled into Paki once again, Mut closed her eyes, getting lost in the moment. She knew he'd find her, and they would be reunited. It was a a moment she wanted to last forever, to never end. She was afraid to move, for fear that the moment would be shattered and Paki would vanish into the night, never to be seen again. As she leaned into him, she let out a soft, happy sigh. "I never want this moment to end..."

A chuckle pulled from his chest once more and his silvery/blue eyes shimmered in the faint sheen of light given off by the moon. If he could have seen her he'd have been speechless at her beauty but just the feel of her body left him nearly breathless enough as it was.

"I don't either, but it doesn't have to. I promise if anything ever happens to seperate us I'll find you again. I love you too much to let you go." Paki crooned in his deepened voice, his nose nuzzling at her neck teasingly.

He was too wrapped up in his joy at finding Mut to ask about his surroundings. He definetly should have asked about it, or at least sniffed to figure out what was near him, but Paki couldn't smell anything but Mut, couldn't feel anything but her either.
