Solace had been very cheerful following her picnic with the enigmatic spirit Mickey. Her main friends among Tyg's spirits Akili and Niade had gossiped a bit and encouraged her to get to know the other spirit better. Today however as she roamed the Garden, Solace's thoughts turned from cheerful to thoughtful to a bit sad...
The picnic had also brought up some subjects that had not been easy for her to deal with mostly involving her family. She'd mentioned her desire to speak with Wraith, mostly in reference to the eyes on her shoulders. As far as she knew Solace was the only one of Wraith's children to have inherited any additional eyes and she was very curious about what he might have to say about them. For some reason though she'd been avoiding that long desired discussion.
"Well the time for avoidance is over..." she said to herself finally coming to a decision. "Its time we spoke and I got some answers." That much settled, Solace went from casual roaming to actively seeking her father. Not quite sure where she might find him she turned toward the central Garden as a place to start.

Wraith was off on his own by one of the various small streams that traveled through the Garden. It was a place he would go when he needed to clear his mind but that place was not stationary. It would change upon his mood so he knew that he would get that peace of mind he needed from dealing with all of the issues he had on his mind.
After Solace and her sisters were brought to the Garden, Wraith was worried as to what he would say to his three daughters if any one of them approached him over the subject. What could he say? It was a freak happening and he didn't really know himself? What kind of father was he? And more over why didn't Solitude confront the girls himself..?

Solace went about her search methodically, occassionally asking some of the other spirits if they'd seen Wraith. Finally her path was narrowed and she found herself following a small stream. The sound of water flowing was always a relaxing one to her so any tension that had come from the searching began to ease.
And then she spotted him... Solace paused unsure of how to approach him, though she was fairly certain that he would notice her soon if he hadn't already. The young spirit continued forward... "Wraith.... father...?" she said softly...

Wraith sat with his feet dangling in the water, staring down at the fish below that tried to n** at his toes. He was lost in his own thoughts but soon saw something out of the corner of one of his eyes. Shifting his tail, opening the eye that was there, he noticed it was one of his daughters. "Yes, Solace?" He replied.

Solace gave a bit of a laugh at the irony as Wraith used the eye on his tail. "I hope I'm not disturbing you," she said as she joined him at the stream. "I've been wanting to talk to you for a while now, its just... well ..." she paused not quite sure how to word her discomfort. She toyed nervously with her bracelet feeling very much a lost child and not her normal confident and content self. Finally though she plunged forward. "I was afraid, not knowing what my reception might be."

Wraith looked at his daughter for a moment. He knew this day would come. It was one of two questions - her birth or the eyes she bore. Perhaps it was both. He smiled a bit and returned his gaze to the water. "You do not have to fear talking to me, my daughter. I will always be willing to answer your questions." He fell silent for a moment. "Just what ails you?"

Solace sat down careful of her robes. She returned Wraith's smile. "Thank you. Mother doesn't always make me feel as welcome. I understand; the sight of my sisters and myself can not be easy." She hadn't meant to go down that road and bit her lip in frustration. "Sorry that's not why I'm here."
She picked up a stone and tossed it into the water. The resulting ripples were quickly erased by the stream's movement. Solace decided to try another direction. "You may have heard I recently went on a picnic with Mickey. Well we talked a lot and one of the subjects that came up were my eyes. I've kinda learned to deal with them but I also wondered if there was more? I guess I came to ask you why you and now I have them and how yours work that I may better understand my own?"

Wraith nodded a bit as his daughter spoke. So it was of the multiple set of eyes which she was curious about. The answer was quite simple... yet probably shocking. "You may or may not know this, but I am a demon, Solace. My race is known to have oddities that many do not have. These eyes - they are used to see better in the dark as that is when I was built to harm and attack others. During the day they usually are closed or slightly open since the sunlight is quiet painful. At night they open up and I can see as a normal person would during the day, if not better."
He paused. "You may have noticed that you can see in more direction than once and it may or may not be the cause of headaches. Learning to let your brain focus on one set of eyes at a time will help you utilize your gift and cease any ache or dizziness you might feel."
At that moment he closed all of his eyes and sighed. He had been alive for many, many years and had learned to use his eyes in every way possible. It was a good thing his heart was in the right place (the wrong place for a demon) otherwise he would have been a thing humanity feared.

All four blue-green eyes blinked in surprise. A demon? That did explain a lot. "I.. I can see them being useful at night. How you explain its pretty much how I deal with them. Except I don't keep them closed as much, but having only the extra pair its not as confusing. Sometimes if there's a great deal going on around me I've gotten a headache from overload and had to close my shoulder eyes for a time."
At hearing his sigh she reached out and gently touched his hand, "Wr... Father?" she still stumbled a bit so used to using his name when speaking of him to others. "I don't mean to bring up bad memories. There's just so much to learn and I've felt so separate."

Wraith opened a few of his eyes and looked at his daughter again. "No, no. It is fine. You have the right to know the answer to anything which the answer can be provided for."
His daughter was lucky, she didn't have to grow up learning how to control more than four sets of eyes. That in itself was confusing and overwhelming. When he was just a baby, walking was a horrible thing for him. When he was a child he managed to walk but couldn't run. When he was a teenager he finally was at the stage where he managed to get used to his eyes and even then he had many difficulties. It was until his adult years he really honed the ability to use them correctly. And from then on, he learned to use them better and more efficiently.
"I have yet to understand why out of your sisters... or any children of mine for that matter, you are the only one whom inherited these eyes... The only thing I have can fathom is that the gene is rare. Or Solitude's genetics helped it be more apparent. He too, is a demon."

Solace smiled. "You just answered one of my other questions. So my fathers are both demons, yes that does perhaps explain why I have these and the others do not. Still I look nothing like Solitude. I met him once." There was a lot of past tying her fathers together and really the most she knew was that in the end they were enemies somehow. "How did it happen Father? I know my sisters and I are not the only spirit children with more than two parents, Akili is one of my best friends, but its different for us." She waved her hands to indicate the tangle as she only partially understood it. "I don't even really know them, but I know it affects them too."

Wraith fluttered his wings a bit uneasily. He wasn't exactly sure on that either. "I believe it was our guide's doing. That they had stolen our masks at one point in time and it occurred. Other than that.... I do not know how it is probable. I do notice that it hasn't occurred much since then..."
He chuckled a bit. "I suppose those who were born under such circumstances are blessed by the Gods though."

Solace gave a stiffled laugh. "Our guides... Why would they do such a thing? Perhaps I should have a long talk with them next." She shook her head. "I suppose they had good intentions."
Solace found herself feeling much more at ease in spite of the revelations. It seemed silly now that she had delayed this talk for so long. Everything started to make a bit more sense.
"Father, what do you know of my sisters?" she asked. After all Wraith had never sought out contact with any of them to her knowledge, but that didn't mean he had not at least observed them. "How did we three end up so distant when the rest of the family is so close? Its not like Solitude's been around much." Solace felt almost guilty then for having a relationship with two of her part siblings, strained though it was by Naoko's influence. Of course they did share a guide and thus a connection beyond family.
