Name:Matsunaga Kyoya

Aliases/ Nicknames:Xitemo, Xite

Physical Description: Standing at roughly six feet, Xitemo has olive skin and a bright smile. His hair is white with dark red highlights at the end that falls roughly around his shoulders. His eyes are a birght amber color with a hint or red around the edges, and they always seem to be darting about, scanning his surroundings. As for his build he is muscular, but only so much as your average soul reaper.

Zanpacto:

The name of his Zanpakuto is actually Xitemo (pronounced shee-tem-o), which is a word from an ancient Aztec language rather than the usual Japanese. Feeling that since a Zanpaktou is an extension of the wielder's soul, he took the name as his preffered name - with the blade's permission of course, as he felt it was more appropriate name for him than the one his parents had given him.

In it's sealed form, Xitemo is kodachi with a red-and-white wrap around the handle and a crimson tassel hanging from the gaurd. The hilt is triangle shape with a wide spine protruding from each side of the triangle.

Shikai - not yet acheived
Release call- "Rise upwards Xitemo!"
The shikai of of the blade takes the form of an unusually-shaped Kwan Dao (Illustration will be added later) and is fairly heavy. However each time an attack of ay kind that has momentum is blocked (or vice versa: Xitemo is blocked), it absorbs roughly 15-40% of the force behind the swing. The stronger the strike, the more momentum absorbed. The momentum is then transffered to the blade, making it feel lighter while keeping it's actual weight. This leads to powerful strikes with much less force needing to be used by Kyoya.

Higyou gyaku - "Strike reverse" is Xitemo's only 'special attack' in this form. When he uses this, all the saved up momentum is transffered from the blade into the attack then to the first thing the blade comes in contact with ths resulting in most objects not stationary will be sent flying back.

Special Accessories:

He usually wears a necklace of some type, most of the time knick-nacks minus the one he got from his family when he graduated from the academy. He only wears that one on special occasions or if he is going into a difficult battle he knows about beforehand.

Skills:

Adept Microexpression Reader-
Xitemo grew up in a household rife with family politics where no one really said what they meant. He learned naturally how to read expressions and what they meant. When he got older he went even further and read detailed books on the subject, and can now read people's emotions very well.

Expert Liar-
On the flip side of this coin, he has learned to lie at a near perfect level, even adjusting his spiritual pressure unwittingly to mtach his stories.

Adept Strategist-
With his near addiction level love of puzzles, his mind has naturally levitated towards planning and implementing ideas and techniques. He looks at every problem as solvable in some form or another, and has an uncanny knack for thinking outside of the box.

Excellent Reflexes-
while not superhuman (a.k.a Captain) level, his reflexes are a notch above that even of his peers at the academy.

Excellent speed-
He has strong leg muscles, mostly from running away from kids he ticked off as a child, and partly becasue he is inherently fast. He saw this and trained his speed. While he cannot keep it up for more than a short distance, he does have a sprint speed that would slightly impress even high-ranking soul reapers.

Enhanced durability-
Xitemo has a naturally tough body. Wether it was resisting disease while alive, or recovering from wounds from attacks from rouges and theives in the Rokongai, Xitemo has always been able to take lots of hits and keep going, and healed fairly quickly.

Poor Willpower-
Despite his mental prowess, Xtemo has a horrible weakness to saying 'no' to things he wants. Horrible. Also, he has a hard time saying no to people who need help, even if it's a detriemnt to himself, and will oftentimes resent people he has helped.

Phobia of pain-
Xitemo has a literal phobia of pain - Agliophobia . He will go to any cost to avoid it, even washing dishes in lukewarm water because hot water hurts a bit. That's not to say pain itself will cause him to shut down, it is the -threat- of it is what he actually fears. So in a battle he can fight normally, until his opponent has him cornered and has the blade at his throat. At that point he begins to freak out and lose all mental capacity for logical though.

Abilities:

Improvised shunko-
While not the same technique as Yoruichi's or Soi Fon, it does belong in the same family. As a new soul in the sprit world, he saw his father figure channel reiatsu into a strike aginst a mugger. After he asked about it his 'fathe'r taught him how. Unlike Shunko it is not a constant channeling that improves strength and speed, but rather a short explosive burst of reiatsu that increases the force of a strike. He has yet to perfect it, but has managed to bend a normal sword flat-wise by a 2 degree angle using his maximum strength.

Reiatsu Lie detector-
He can sense when someone is lying sometimes by fluctuations in their reiatsu. He has yet to really hone this, and still relies on microexpressions.

Acadamy-level Kido-
Xitemo knows all the basic level kido taught at the Academy, but made sure especially to focus on Sho and Sai, and those who know him also know he likes to use them both in conjuction. Other than those though, he has not delved deeply into knowledge of Kido other than the basics.

Personality:

To those around him he is a friendly -sometimes goofy- face and good friend who walks from place to place like he has all the time int he world while still getting there on time. To those who really know him he is a shrewd and calculating manipulator who will do what it takes to get what he wants. As for the people who know him better than even he does? They notice that what he usually wants is best for others more often than himself...but they would never point that out to him of course.

Biography/History:

He grew up in Tokyo, his father the curator of a local museum and his mother a moderately succesful lawyer. They lived a perfectly normal life minus the fact that his mother and father smuggled illegal narcotics into the country with disturbing effciency. As soon as he could speak he was taught to lie, and lie he did. Wether it was scamming 'customers' into paying more for less with sob stories or lying to the officers who would always eventually become suspicious, Kyoya was constantly making lies within lies his whole life...and it led to his death. After pulling off a particularly convincing 'my mother has cancer scam' on a new client he was about to go away so his father could seal the deal - that is until his perfectly healthy mother came into the room shouting the cops had a warrant. Needless to say the client was not happy about being lied to, and definitely was not excited about the cops either. To make his dissatisfaction clear, first he threatened Kyoya's mother then quickly followed up by stabbing the young conspirator who had lied to him in the first place through the throat. The police busted in, arrested the parents and called an ambulance immeadiately... but the fates had cut his string that day, and Kyoya died before the paramedics even reached his house through a combination of being unable to breath properly and blood loss. It took roughly about four minutes for him to go unconcious, and in that time his mind -already paranoid beyond reason from all his lies- snapped in those last few moments. He was only 12.

He woke up later in the afterlife and eventually ended up in the 42nd district of the western side Ruknogai. His mind was still in shambles and he wandered near aimlessly along the streets and would have starved in that time in the world of the living, but due to having a low spiritual pressure he was able to live for weeks in this state. Eventually he wandered into a restaurant and sat down at the counter, babbling incoherently. The waiters tried to shoo him away until the owner came into the room and told them to 'take the boy to my house and put him in the spare room.' He never explained why, but the owner of the restaurant -Mr. Hikaru as he was known around the district- took care of Kyoya with indifferent but diligent care until one day the boy woke up from his previous state. Now in his early 20's and with nowhere else to go, Kyoya went to work in Mr.Hikaru's restaurant.

Life continued as normal up until the day a man from one of the harsher districts burst into the store and demanded food from a server while holding him at knifepoint. With his usual mask of calm and peace, Mr. Hikaru dashed at the intruder and knocked him unconcious with a single open-palm strike. Having been on duty that day, Kyoya had seen the whole ordeal. Unlike everyone else though, he had noticed a distinct glow of energy (which he would lter learn was reiatsu) flow through his boss and father figure's hand during the attack. When he asked about it, Mr. Hikaru allowed a look of surprise cross his face for the first time Kyoya had ever seen. Seeing the potential the young man had, Mr. Hikaru decided intstead of explaining what had happened, he would show Kyoya not only how it worked by how to do it. He also taught Kyoya how to fight, meditate, and run the restaurant. All was going fine and for once Kyoya felt at peace.

Then one day the robber from before came back with a vengance, and a few burly friends as well. There was no fight, no robbing...only fire. The motely gang caught the business on fire at night while everyone was at home and asleep. Mr. Hikaru accepted the loss with his usual stoic accpetance and used the last month's worth of profits to provide his employees with some funds to live off of until the found new jobs. He then gave most of his savings and 'bought' Kyoya an application to the Shinigami Academy. At first Kyoya refused the gift, insisting he wasn't worth that. Mr. Hikaru shut down the entire argument by pointing out that Kyoya had been on both sides of the law, and had still in the long run come out a good person. He went on to explain that this is exactly why Kyoya needed to become a soul reaper. Too many soul reapers were from rich families or were victims of the kind of people Kyoya used to be, and as a result did not fully understand what they were fighting against. Kyoya did, he said, and would not underestimate those they were againt...or overestimate them either. Kyoya agreed and entered the academy. He was a perfectly normal student other than a knack for thinking outside the box. At his graduating ceremony not only was Mr. Hikaru there, but so was every employee that he had worked with during his time at the restaurant. They had each taken some of the money Mr. Hikaru had given them on that day those years ago and bought a necklace from one of the more expensive shops in the 1st district. It was then that Kyoya -really- realized why he had become a soul reaper.
