Nyarai had found various berries and was now hard at work smashing them up into bright colored paint. The boy's project for him self today, decorate the river side rocks. First he needed the perfect bright red. The paint wasn't wanting to work for him though.
Maybe it was the number of berries he mixed and the fact that they weren't all the same kind or color. His paint was ending up a murky brown that was less then desirable for a pretty bright river.
He frowned and looked at the murky brown. His front paws were now semi stained that brown color.
"Well.... looks like I should chuck this.." He splashed a paw in the paint in disgust with it.

The cub yawned as he made his way to the river; he needed a drink badly, and splashing around in the water was rather fun too! As his ears picked up the sound of running water, the male stopped in his tracks; there were some rather thick bushes between him and the delicious water... He frowned, glancing at the 'path' he always took. Deciding to take the shorter 'route', Rhincodon dived under a bush and started to crawl his way through. His small body made it possible for him to pass through without getting himself stuck, and soon, he leaped out of the other side.
"Whee!" He giggled as he 'appeared', leaves and small twigs stuck to his fur. Without stopping, the cub jumped into the river and lapped at the water before using it to get the leaves and twigs off. Climbing up to the banks, he was about to groom himself when he saw a fellow cub nearby. Excited at the prospect of a new friend, he smiled, "Hello!"

Noel could have jumped out of his skin when greeted. The other male seemed to have come out of no where. Partly because Noel had been so hard at work trying to make the rocks look pretty he hadn't bothered to look around his surroundings. . Needless to say, the little red cub was terrified.
The little red cub opened his maw to say something after a long moment of staring, "Orange!" Noel blinked. "I - I mean.. Hi?" He took a moment to get his heart out of his throat. His heart was beating so fast he could have coughed it up.
"Are you magic or something?" Noel's voice was hushed.

"Orange?" The cub echoed, blinking at the stranger with a bewildered expression as he was rooted to the spot. Then, he giggled suddenly, shaking his head after looking down at his body, "Hello! My name is Rhincodon, or Rhin for short! Who're you?" He bounced towards the other with a smile, stopping a short distance away from him before he giggled again, this time at the question.
"No! I'm not magic!" He replied cheerfully, unaware that he had scared the other, "I crawled through the bush there, from the other side." He gestured towards the bush beside the river with a paw before turning his attention back to the cub.

Noel blinked at the bush and then stared at the bouncy, orange, boy before him. His coat was something else this new Rhin as he called him self.
"Ny-I-Mean-Noel.." He gave the other a goofy smile, "I like Noel.. " The red boy couldn't help but stare at the orange boy. He was so bouncy and orange and also a boy. Noel had no brothers his age and for the most part stayed separated from other boys. He had met a few of his cousins who were all female and Liza had some what taken the boy under his wing but Noel hadn't met some one his age.
Clearly this boy was older then he was but still the two were close in age.
"Why are you bouncing?"

"I like Noel too!" He replied with a nod, referring to the name of the cub. Still smiling, he giggled, "I'm bouncing because I'm happy! Its a nice day today!" The back of his throat itched, and he suddenly remembered why he came to the river in the first place - for a nice, cool drink! Apparently, the drink he had just moments ago didn't quite satisfy his thirst. Turning to the river's edge, he lowered himself and started lapping up the water again before looking up again.
"So... What are you doing over here? Did you come to get a drink too?" He asked, curious at what the other cub might be doing.

The boy smiled and puffed his chest out proudly, "I'm painting the rocks to make them prettier," He declared it like painting rocks was something worth being very proud of.
"But.. the rocks and the paint.. aren't looking so good.." He gestured over to the mess of brown paint he had made along with his paws.
"Its.. just kinda turned an ugly brown..."

"Painting the rocks?" The cub echoed, his curiosity piqued. Peering behind the other, Rhin noticed the brown paint that he had been talking about; it was rather dull, like the mud after a downpour... Not really something that could help make the river look prettier. He turned to look at Noel again, wrinkling his nose, "How are paints made? Could you show me?"
He smiled hopefully, sitting down on his haunches; if he knew how it worked, maybe he could help his new friend with making more colorful paints!

Noel smiled and nodded. He was glad the other wanted to know. Now he could show some one his little trick.
"Of course!" Noel twirled around happily. "First we need some bugs and berries. Lets get those first."
With that the cub zipped over to a random bush that had ripe red berries. He gently gripped on in his maw and dropped it beside him. The red boy continued this a few times. "You gotta pick em gently or they'll burst," Noel giggled. He knew from experience of bursting a few dozen him self.

Rhin looked as the cub got busy, gathering some berries from a nearby bush. Curious, he sniffed at a berry before biting it and attempting to pull it off a brunch; however, like Noel had warned, it burst in his mouth as he tried to do so. Making a face as the juice touched his tongue and trickled down his maw, he quickly bounced over to the river to wash it off.
"Its hard!" He commented, shaking the water off his head before returning to the berry bush. More berries burst, and he decided to get watch his new friend do the gathering instead; as the pile got higher and higher, he giggled, "What sort of bugs do we need, Noel?"

Noel watched Rhin gather the berries, the wrong way, and couldn't help but smile. His pile was big enough so it didn't matter that Rhin wasn't able to pick any.
"It took me a while to perfect, don't worry about it," He grinned and burst a berry in his mouth as he did so. The surprised male cub quickly ran to the river to wash out the berry taste that had burst in his mouth.
"Blah these don't taste good.." He gurgled some. "The crawly kind, the ones with out wings," Noel gestured toward a green bug that was perched on a rock. "That kind," Noel grinned a very red grin. The berry wasn't completely washed out.

{No problem. <3 Due to my timezone I find it difficult to tag people, so I love it when they have a plot thread!}
Rhin couldn't help but giggle when Noel suffered the same fate as him, giving a grin in return, "I'm sure I'll get it one day, if I practice!" When he finished talking, the cub turned to where the bug was, peering curiously at it; he never knew that bugs could be turned into ink... Would they burst like the berry? That would be... Interesting.
"Is there a difference between using the winged and non-winged ones?" He asked as he hunted for bugs similar to the one Noel had gestured to, peeking under bushes and logs. "And does the color of the bug matter?"

Noel ducked his head under water and gave his head a good shake with his mouth wide open. He pulled his head out and shook. The taste wasn't completely out and now he had a wet head.
"No, the crawly kind can't get away as fast," The cub smiled. "Color doesnt matter." Granted , Color really did matter. Noel was still new to making paint him self and hadn't figured out that bugs of the same color actually make that color. No , Noel had been mixing things together at random. Still, he was self taught and learning as he went.

"Oh! I never thought of that! They do fly away really quickly." The male nodded, breaking into a smile before wandering off in the direction of the green bug on the rock. Eyes focused on his target, he crept up as quietly as he could towards it. When he felt that he was close enough, Rhin leaped up and landed with his paws on the bug. There was a crunching sound as he did, however, and when he finally lifted up his paws, the cub frowned - the bug was partially squished.
"Um... Are they still useful if they're somewhat flattened?" He asked, blushing a little at his little stunt; that was the second paint ingredient he had squished today!

Noel froze and looked at the squished bug. After a while he had to laugh.
"We squish it any way so why not?" He laughed some more. "Why don't we go play in the water instead? I'm sure its alot easier then mixing paint."
Honestly he was just a little flustered at how his paint was still turning out brown. Brown was not sexy in the least. Ah well, he'd make bright colors one day.
Noel pranced on over to the stream and stuck a paw in the cool water. "It feel nice," The cub took a leap and splashed into the cool stream.
