This is simple: When writing, we can always portray a character's voice and imagine a tone. But, in some cases, someone must truly know and understand the tone of a character, such as my Arashi, to understand them. So, just as you find character pictures: Find a character voice! It's fun and leads to better understanding in my opinion.
