What to do, what to do... Mr. Katan sat in his office, a hand to his forehead in thought. His wife had been very adamant about giving the kids a talk, lecturing them about slamming the door in her face and having sex when she was clearly in the next room protesting. How disrespectful, she'd said. How much Lee's changed, she said. Mr. Katan agreed, of course, but was a bit more forgiving, considering the circumstances. Of course, he didn't want his only daughter being violated in his own home, or anywhere for that matter, but somehow his mind was on another subject entirely.
Lee and Rory went at it like rabbits. He and his wife slept in separate rooms. What was he doing wrong, and what was Rory doing right? Clearly, the man needed help, and it would take a miracle worker to fix what he and his wife had wrecked. He was humiliated to have to go to someone like Rory, someone so young, so inexperienced, but clearly the boy had a hand up on him. He needed advice, and Rory was really the only one to give it to him. Rose petals and a bubble bath -- anyone could do that, but how would he ever get his wife to agree to something so intimate?

Rory was still sleeping peacefully, curled around one of the many spare pillows on the bed. A poor substitute for Lee, but comfortable enough. He'd woken briefly when she'd gotten up to go shopping with her mother, but had decided to sleep in, exhausted from the night before. Sometime before she'd gone, Lee had apparently brought Ki Du in, the puppy curled up at Rory's feet.

A servant knocked at Lee's bedroom door, Mr. Katan having requested someone fetch the boy. Luckily for Rory, it was a male for once, and he was not about to fondle the boy in his sleep. He knocked a bit louder when he realized no one was coming. Rory was in there, right?

Rory jerked awake at the sound of the knock, still remaining where he was lying. "Nnngg . . . " At the second knock, he sat up, barely missing catching Ki Du as the puppy bounced off the bed and ran yapping to the door. The boy stumbled out of bed and located some jeans, tugging them on. "'m comin'. Jus' a moment."
Rubbing his face and walking to the door, he scooped up the puppy before opening it. "Wha'?" He leaned in the door frame looking as sleepy as he felt.

"Mr. Katan wishes to speak with you." The young man looked Rory over, noticing he didn't look awake at all. "I'm sure he can wait until you've cleaned up a bit, though..." The servant was another of Rory's admirers, and even though he, like every other boy that had worked there, had had a small crush on Lydia, it didn't change Rory from being so... cool. He was just so unkempt looking, such a ladies' man, nonconforming, rough, strong. Awesome.

Rory nodded, holding up a hand to stifle a yawn. "Alreet. Tell 'im I'll b' down in a moment." He shut the door and went to the bed, dropping Ki Du on it, then set about to finding a shirt before stumbling to the bathroom to take care of the usual morning routine.

The boy nodded, a grin on his face as Rory shut the door on him. He was about to ask "How was Lydia, anyway?" with a stupid, cocky grin, but never got that chance, and instead headed downstairs to talk to Mr. Katan. "He'll be down in a moment. He just woke up."
"Just now? Lee woke up before Rory?" Now he just felt worse. What exactly had they been doing for the boy to be this exhausted? It was late -- the only reason he was home was because he was on his lunch break.

Rory headed downstairs, Ki Du plodding along after him. He didn't bother leashing the pup since he followed the boy everywhere. Heading for the study, he waved at Mr. Katan before flopping down on the sofa there. Ki Du hopped around, wiggling his bottom in an attempt to wag his non-existent tail till Rory picked him up and snuggled with him. "What did you need me fae, sir? Is this about last night? Your wife really needs t' respect other people's privacy."

Smiling and nodding as the boy came in, he sighed a bit as Rory sat, not sure what to say. "Actually, it's about last night, yes, but... I'm not going to scold you or anything." Mr. Katan chuckled slightly, more with his discomfort than at anything funny, and sat back in his seat, rubbing his hands together nervously. Was there any way to start this without it sounding totally and utterly wrong? "I heard it looked rather romantic up there, hm? Rose petals, my wife told me. She wasn't impressed, of course. She's not impressed by anything, it seems..."

"She seemed kinda impressed wi' th' duck," Rory said, running a hand through his hair and not doing much to get it not to stick up. He leaned forward. "This about some o' tha' stuff I said last night?"

"Some of it, yes." The man laughed again, this time slightly amused, a small bit of relief that Rory had been the one to say it. His expression dimmed, and he rubbed his neck as he searched for his next words. "I don't know what to do. Neither of us are happy... And I don't know what to say to fix it. Divorce is uncommon here, as well, but for entirely different reasons. True, there are some that choose to divorce, but it's bad for the family name, and makes for messy financial issues. However..." that wasn't why he didn't want to divorce her.

"You still love her," Rory said as if finishing the man's thought. He settled back on the couch, looking down at the snoozing puppy in his lap awhile before focusing on his future father-in-law. "Hae you tried talkin' wi' her on it?"

"I'm almost positive she knows." He didn't cheat, he did as she asked of him -- most of the time -- and he hinted at it in the kitchen a few nights before. "How would I even talk to her, though? She won't care. I don't believe she has the slightest interest in me anymore." And who could blame her? She was just a beautiful as the day he'd met her, regardless of her means of attaining that beauty, and he was... old. "I love that she's stubborn and argumentative and sharp tongued. It's why I married her. But those are the same reasons I can't talk to the woman." Please help, Rory.

Rory just sat there blinking. What? No. Nooo. It was too early in the day for a lovelorn guy to beg him for help with his bitchy wife. The boy rubbed his face, sighing. "Hae you thought about just making a grand romantic gesture or sweeping her off her feet? Maybe just tell her how much you love her an' follow it wi' a toe-curlin' kiss?" He wasn't sure what advice Mr. Katan was exactly wanting.
