Mleli was in a good mood, something that had become fairly common since the birth of her one and only pure leopard son. She seemed blind to his flaws and valued him above her first litter, and even the large litter of leopards her sister had. Most of her offspring were still in the general area, some staying closer to home than others but she never seemed to be truly rid of them. And while she had Daima, that didn't matter to her. They were welcome to stick around, but she made sure they knew they were inferior to the younger boy.

She was humming to herself, weaving through the trees of the Jungle as she searched for Daima. She hadn't seen him earlier in the day and she enjoyed seeing him, he was the bright spot in her otherwise uninteresting life. She wasn't having any luck finding him quickly, but she didn't seem too worried about it.

The god was far from concealing himself, his wings flared around him as he reclined quite comfortably in the jungle. Nothing had been that good for him lately, but then, ever since he had encountered her, nothing had. The anger that nestled itself in his heart never dissipated, or was satisfied.

For the moment, he was reflecting on how to act upon it. Temptation to visit his sister, but then she had always brought a touch of fear to him. Though they were twins, she always seemed so much stronger than him. Perhaps not strength, but there was something there he did not like. Then again, they were opposites, it was only fate.

With a grumble, his ears perked at a rustling sound, figuring that some stupid rat was wandering around, just begging to be eaten for all the sound he could hear. He wasn't hungry, but he did want some peace and quiet.

Mleli was no stranger to deities, but she hardly enjoyed their company. Her first litter was fathered, quite accidentally, by a god and she had never stopped holding it against them. Not to mention, she had quite enjoyed one incident when a goddess with ridiculous antlers had been tangled in a bush. Each time, her opinion of lions and of gods had caused some trouble. At least, that was how she had ended up carrying halfbreeds and she hadn't made a friend in the tangled goddess. Limbuko had taught her to pick her battles, though the consequences had not been as severe as they could have been. Boma had been tangled, she could openly be mocked.. but when Mleli stumbled upon the large red god, she came to a quick stop.

A god, she thought, Of course, just when you think they're done in the Jungle.. It had been so long, she had been quite happy to imagine the jungle was god-free. She made no major effort to hide her stare since she was some distance away, and she looked him up and down. She didn't have to like gods but she knew pick a fight would probably not be the best idea, but still she was slower than perhaps she should have been turning around.

There was always the saying that you could feel eyes on you. It took Dath a moment, as he was so wrapped up in his thoughts, but after a moment that itch ate at his mind. It obviously wasn't a rat, since whatever it was had the sense to stop. A rodent wouldn't.

Turning just slightly, he saw the form of a leopard. Not a strange sight to see in a jungle, but he had never bothered to personally get to know any. Most of them were stuck up creatures, and he never cared for any that didn't give him the respect he wanted. (Which was really anyone until they were scared of him, but Dath never thought about it in that way.)

"Oh, am I in your place?" he said with a sneer, knowing how territorial some could get, even females.

She was about to turn around and march away, grumbling, but he addressed her. His tone and expression mirroring her own opinion. She weighed her options but quickly pushed the consequences from her mind, she knew he was picking a fight but she couldn't seem to just ignore it, the space between them lending her much more confidence than it should have.

"Yes," she said, her tone arrogant and unwelcoming, "You are."

Her tone was more challenging than her words. It was clear that she wanted to say get out but whatever sense she did have in confronting a god who was not being held back stopped her. Stupid gods, couldn't find their own place and just leave her area alone. For all the deities that were worshiped but rarely seen, how was it that she so often found one? Ugh.

Ohohoooo. This was going to be fun.

He leaped off of his relaxing place, which in all honesty wasn't that high up. Still, it was always fun to be on level ground with a....target. He folded his wings against his side, though their size was still obvious as the black stood out against the crimson-coloured coat. His jewelry jingled against his chest, their colour reflecting a bit of what light could escape through the canopy of trees. He felt proud of himself, but could also feel his domain clouding his eyes. His control of himself was slipping, even if slightly.

"Really?" he asked with a grin, baiting her. He continued to stand, but let his muscles relax just a bit, showing that he was quite confident that she was all bluff. "Make me move, then."

Arrogance often clouded certain aspects of intelligence. As the god descended and attempted to call her bluff, her arrogance and the desire to show that she would not back down to any lion (god or not) made her stand her ground. Her steel blue eyes narrowed and she scowled at him, a barely audible growl escaping her. She didn't have size or strength over him but she had something to prove and that was all it took to make her move closer, making the increasingly small gap between them smaller.

"Don't you have anywhere else you could be?" she growled, wondering not for the first time if gods really served any purpose. The ones she'd seen didn't make it seem likely.

He had to admit, he was mildly impressed on her courage. Though, he never said it was smart. She was playing with his patience, and he had pretty much none.

"You seem quite adept at pushing buttons," he said with a chuckle, his eyes staying locked on her's. It was almost pitiable, how she stood up for a piece of dirt, a tree here or there, whatever was around. Why were mortals so territorial? Once they died, someone else would take it. Or perhaps it was more than that, something deeper.

He wasn't going to go through a therapy session to figure it out, though.

"I'll assure you, girl, that you're making quite the mistake." He adjusted his wings slightly, in case she fet the urge to flee. She wasn't going to be getting away, not with her threat still hanging in his mind. No one would play with him like that, not if it wasn't on his terms.

She smirked at the compliment, recognizing that it was rather like a veiled threat. Somehow, she had always been good at that and she let it get to her head. If she could get to them, she wasn't just some hilarious mortal telling them to shove off. She was, but she wasn't. It wasn't necessarily a concept that made sense to anybody but Mleli.

"It's no mistake protecting my territory," she spat back when he said she was making a mistake, "Lions are not welcome here." Now her opinion, her reason for arguing was known. She wasn't going to back down just yet, especially since turning your back could be just as dangerous as standing your ground. Either way, she didn't like that gods seemed to especially enjoy showing up in her backyard. Lion gods. It was almost more evidence for why not to like lions, having or being gods at all. Leopards obviously didn't need gods.

"Oh?" he asked, still tickled my the thought that she owned this land. Such a juvenile thought, owning things. Well, for mortals to think that they owned things. They should know better.

"Well, if you are so determined it is your land, then we'll have the relieve you of that duty," he said as he took a step towards her, lowering his head to meet her's. He couldn't resist showing off his teeth, the pupils in his eyes slowly dilating in excitement. His muscles tighened, ready for the moment to pounce on his prey.

"Which, of course, means in your death." He lunged for her.

Mleli was doing quite well standing her ground, however foolish it was for her to continue doing so. She was tense, ready to move quickly if she had to but was occupied staring back at him, trying to stare him down. It took much conscious effort not to move as he came closer and closer, lowering to look her in the eyes. It was about intimidation now, or so she thought, and he couldn't scare her!

She snarled when the word 'death' came up, and she moved quickly as he lunged, aiming to go to the side and evade the attack but she was smaller and the gap was small. She hit the ground with a growl but she didn't give up just because she fell, struggling against the weight and pain.

Dath was a little disappointed that she hadn't dodged it well. He liked a bit of a chase, but as she struggled against his weight he could tell that she wasn't the type to run. She probably thought that she could be smart enough to win somehow, or at least give him a run for his money.

Oh well.

"Nice try," he said with a snarl, taking a bit of time with her. He didn't like an instant kill, but he also wasn't the type to take ages either. As egocentric as the god was, he was also equally impatient.

"How does it feel, knowing you're going to die over a piece of dirt?" he asked with a sinister laugh. Oh, he needed this release, as it felt fantastic to control to life of another with his paws.

Struggling wasn't getting her anywhere fast and she knew it, she turned to glare at him. She didn't stop struggling, though, trying to decide what the best course of action was. She needed to get away or she really wasn't going to come out of this alive. It couldn't be this easy. She needed to do something to help herself and the only option she had was to fight back from where she was now. Struggling to twist around, she reached out for whatever she could get a hold of with her teeth.

He felt the pain of a bite on his paw, but his brain only registered it as a drive to finish her. She was probably tasting the blood of an immortal, and in his eyes she deserved death for that. He was above all of them, regardless of what they thought. Yes....

The cloud of any sort of judgement covered his eyes, and he could feel himself not just slipping, but falling off the cliff. He had been doing it too much recently, and didn't realize that the concequences of his actions would catch up to him before he realized it.

With a snarl, he pushed his blood paw against her, his teeth closing around her neck as a soft rumble continued to escape from his mouth, his tail lashing behind him in ecstacy of the blood he could taste, as well as the scent of his own mingling in the air.

Mleli was waiting for a chance to get away, to recover some so she could really fight back. She clamped hard onto the god's paw, hoping. She tasted blood and it gave her some hope, making her try harder, but her chance never came. She fought to keep the paw from pushing her down, releasing it in an effort to move away but it was too late. The fight was lost. She choked on a snarl as his teeth clamped on her neck and her vision began to blur as pain took over, blood oozing from her neck. Determined to keep fighting, she kept struggling until there was nothing left and then she was done.
