It was your typical Wednesday afternoon. It was sunny, and the park had many patches of kids and adults alike scattered across the grass. The playground was a magnet for the really young children, with many of them enjoying the metal merry-go-round and the swings.
The sounds of laughter, cheering, and the occasional crying of a toddler decorated the park. Ellie usually didn't enjoy such vast amounts of activity in the park. However, it was a welcome change today. She hadn't even made it back to her house after school, so she was kicking it under a tree. Things had been so bland lately that all of the energy in the park was welcome to an energetic girl like the Meadowview girl.
It was a bit surprising, but there was a strange lack of dogs this afternoon. People usually walked their dogs in the park, or even let them off leash and played fetch with them. Blowing a puff of air at her bangs, causing them to rise and fall gently over her face, she gave the area a look around. Ellie was a dog person and was some what disappointed in this endeavor. Oh well, she'd probably have to go soon enough so her homework could be finished up.

The park was becoming a second home to Lilith. She tried to go there daily, rain or shine, and with the utmost support of her beloved canine companion. Harness safely in her left, and ivory toned walking stick in her right, she and Raja made their way steadily down the familiar paths, two sets of ears taking in all the cheerful sounds, two noses breathing deep the fresh air. What a beautiful day.
Raja picking up the pace a bit, a slight shock but not unwelcome to the brunette. Did she spot something interesting? She didn't mind following the dog wherever her nose or fascination took them while in the park. It was a low-key place... usually. Thinking back to when that... thing showed up here... well, things seemed well enough now.
Surely the proverbial lightning wouldn't strike twice.
It was then she noticed Raja had taken her onto a grassy section of the park, where the sounds of children were all the louder. The soft ground felt nice though, a good change from walking around the city and the hard concrete. The dog slowed down, finally coming to a halt. Now this was a surprise for sure! Raising a brow, Lilith frowned. "Everything alright, Raja?" Focusing on her hearing, she listened to the world around her as the dog let out a small chain of barks. Nothing seemed out of place, it wasn't like she could hear some ominous sound in front of them. So... what was her dog barking at? They weren't threatening either, more like... happy, greeting something. Was there another dog there? The girl huffed. Times like this, she couldn't help but wish animals could speak like humans.

One moment, no dog.
Next moment, dog! At first, Ellie seemed to eagerly bounce up and look around for the first sights of the canine. She could tell just from the barking that it had to be a medium to large sized one. She was a bit surprised to find that the subject was in fact maybe 5 feet away. With a person on a harness. However, the Meadowview student wasn't stupid. Where as an elementary school kid might have run up without any sense of responsibility to "play" with the dog, this girl saw the tell tale signs. The harness and the obvious white stick meant the girl walking the dog was blind.
The main question Ellie had as she casually observed is why the dog stopped where it did. For a moment, she stayed quite and just looked. However, with nothing happening except for an excited chain of dog barks, Ellie had to ask "So, is it okay if I pet the dog, or should I just let y'pass?"
She hoisted her body up so she was leaning forward a bit and waited.

Oh. Well. Question answered then.
Raja was barking at a... girl? The tone of voice stated gender at least, with Lilith's own experience placing the other by it at around her age. Still wondering just why exactly her dog had decided to lead her to this stranger, the question lingering in the air made her at least curious towards the other. Anyone could bluntly see Lilith, well... couldn't, yet she was still talking to her? Not the first, but still. The blind girl never got over the slight shock when someone openly spoke to her without a babying voice.
"You can pet her, Raja doesn't bite," she responded simply, a small smile lifting the corners of her mouth. Bonus points to the stranger for not just running up to the dog, however sweet her temperament might be. Adjusting her hold on her cane, she reached over and gave Raja a soft scratch behind an ear. "Hope we didn't interrupt you, though. Today was such a lazy day, just let her lead where she wanted to go." Which usually didn't result in finding a random person, but hey, she wasn't going to complain.

"Awesome!" Bouncing up from her spot, the girl immediately went to doting over the dog. Scratches behind the ear, offering a hand for sniffing and smooching, and an overall hug were not good enough for Ellie, but they'd have to suffice for now. She managed to catch the name, and couldn't help but ask "Raja, eh? Like that tiger from that Disney movie?"
The blonde had a pretty silly looking grin on her face right now, but who cared! Dog! She had to have the luck of the draw that guaranteed she couldn't have a pet dog ever! Her parents were never around, and as they always argued as she grew up, there wasn't enough space for it to be healthy. At least the excuses never accused Ellie of being lazy.
Speaking of lazy. "Oh, no worries, I was just slacking off fer once. Figgered I could just hang out until I got bored, then go home t'work on homework. The usual crap." Ellie was still grinning and leaning in, like she was hoping to get a doggy kiss.

She was taken rather off guard by the sudden burst of energy from the other girl, taking a small step back out of disorientation. Raja, on the other hand, was more than thrilled by such an enthusiastic greeting. The golden retriever stepped forward as much as she could while still on the harness, tail a windmill whipping this way and that. The friendlier the human, the higher opinion Raja had of them, yep yep! Which of course meant this awesome newcomer got a lick up the cheek.
Which, really, was the biggest reason Lilith couldn't help but relax. Raja was a pretty good judge of character, and if she was more than willing to nuzzle up to this girl, then surely she couldn't be a bad person. She laughed though at the question. "Maybe? That must have been where I first heard the name. All I know is when I got her, that was the first name that popped into my head." Really, what kid doesn't spend hours watching Disney movies? More she thought about it, more she figured the other girl hit dead on where she got the name from.
Somehow, falling into the flow of the conversation was easy, her train of thought melting in line with the words from the girl. "I'm with you on that. So much easier to work on the annoying stuff after getting some relaxation time in first." Not that today was an example of that for her, but usually....
"I'm Lilith, by the way." Raja gave a soft bark as means of a secondary introduction of her own, making sure not to risk the other's eardrums. It at least made Lilith's sudden intro not so awkward, as she realized it was after speaking. Gotta love dogs.

This is why you had to love dogs. They were just plain awesome!
On the mention of names, a little piece of Ellie's mind went "INTRODUCTIONS!!!" She bounced back up to her feet and casually took up the girl's hand in her own (as best as she could, the girl's hands were kinda full). Giving her best attempt at a handshake in this fashion, she replied "Nice t'meet'cha, Lilith. Name's Ellie!" Out of polite habit, the girl looked this Lilith in the face. And somewhere in Ellie's mind, she couldn't help but feel the girl's eyes were a bit creepy with their lack of attentiveness.
She figured it was human nature to still feel a bit weirded out by such a thing. Mentally shrugging it off, she took her hand back. Hoping to continue the conversation a bit (just because she was decently polite like that, nobody could accuse her of not having manners), she mentioned "Never seen ya at Meadowview before. Would have noticed a dog on campus everyday. Are ya homeschooled, or are ya at Crystal?"

Again with the disorientation! She wasn't used to those with so much energy being so... well, openly so with her. It was so new and weird and would take a bit to get used to she figured... but she liked it! The awkward handshake around her cane made her grin, trying her best to reciprocate without dropping the stick or somehow hitting the other girl in the legs with it. "It's good to meet you too, Ellie." What a pretty name, too! It was... unusual, yet so fitting for this girl she felt. Something about the other's accent hit her, not the strict formal speech she'd become used to as of late. But it wasn't the uneducated drawl she sometimes caught while walking down the streets, it was just... casual.
When the handshake ended, she found herself presented with not only more information about the other girl, but oh, hey, more of a conversation! Again, kind of new. Her opinion of this Ellie girl was increasing at a very positive rate. "I just transferred to Crystal, actually. My parents believed the city life might be good for me, but they couldn't move here so," her voice trailed off with a shrug. "You're at Meadowview then? Is it nice there?" She'd heard generally good about the public high school, but getting an opinion straight from a student would be a lot more reliable than pamphlets or adults.

Giving her honest two cents, Ellie blurted out "All schools are crap!" There was always something wrong with a school, no matter how awesome it might have seemed. She was certain there was something wrong with Crystal, and she already knew there was definitely something wrong with Hillworth (since that was the particular school's reputation).
"Sucks that yer parents couldn't come out 'ere though. Bet'cha miss them a..."
Ellie's voice cut off short. Something seemed off. Instead of playful laughter and general excitement in the background, she now heard panicked screaming. Glancing up, she saw people running away from one particular direction. And behind them, some sort of crazy creature that looked like a combination of a rusty seesaw and an ugly as sin minotaur.
Youma! her mind screamed.
"Sh*t!" her mouth uttered. Taking a look at her blind acquaintance and the dog, the blonde couldn't help but feel a bit of mental panic as well. "Lilith! There's a monster heading this way! You and Raja, GET OUT OF HERE!!"
Completely invading the girl's personal space bubble, she spun the girl to face an appropriate direction to start running in and somewhat smacked Raja on the butt in hopes of getting her running. Without a word, Ellie ran towards the monster instead. Maybe she could get its attention and divert it away from the general park populous that was stampeding away from the Youma.

Everything seemed fine and dandy, so casual and normal... then... everything changed. She didn't realize she wasn't alone in noticing the sudden change in sounds until Ellie suddenly went silent. So it wasn't just her. Then... something really was wrong. Her mind rewound time, recalling the last time she'd been to the park, that... thing...
When things change, they tend to do so in a lightning pace. Raja's uncharacteristic snarls and barks sent her already jumbled head into a spin before an outside force literally spun her around to face what was apparently a safe direction. Yes... Ellie was yelling for her to run, and even Raja was pulling hard on the harness to obey this logical demand. "Wait! Ellie! Where are you going? Ellie!" But... those footsteps... surely she was hearing wrong, with all the confusion and chaos around her - surely Ellie wasn't heading towards the problem area! No, there must be a logical explanation, or so she tried telling herself as she was soon being pulled along by her dear dog. Behind her, she could hear the screams of the people and the calls of whatever the monster was, sounds like grinding rust mixed with throaty bellows. Little by little, it seemed like the sound was getting closer... good god, was it coming this way?
But... she had to... to fight that thing... right? Her hand went to her forehead, where that strange tiara had sat, where that pressure and orbs came from. She bit her lip, mind alternating between "FIGHT" and "FLIGHT" unlike anything she was typically used to. Was it then unconsciously? Or had she made a choice? Whatever it was, Lilith found herself directing Raja towards where she knew the tree line to be from previous exploration experience. Within the trees she could hide. And maybe...

Maybe if she had thought everything out clearly, maybe Ellie wouldn't have nearly been swept away with a crowd of people. She had run in the correct direction, then a herd of scared civilians redirected her to their flow. As a result, the blonde girl was redirected towards the playground. Instead of continuing to run, she ducked down and took refuge under the playground structure. The rest of the people ran, leaving the whole playground area empty.
"Sh*t! This ain't good!" she grumbled as she then began to fuss with the backpack she had been wearing. As she did this, inhumanly heavy steps thudded on the metal and plastic structure above her. If this had been a horror movie, maybe she would have stopped what she was doing. Instead, she dug out her henshin pen from her backpack as hastily as possible. She didn't hesitate to shout out "IRIS POWER MAKE-UP!!!" The transformation was a bit cramped (since the space she chose was a bit small), but she rushed out from under the playground as quickly as possible, her backpack in tow.
The Youma (which had literally been just above her) pawed a hoof against the ground, the hoof scraping against the metal floor. "Senshi... star seed..." it seemed to snort out, its sickly yellow eyes focusing in on the girl's bright yellow outfit.
Sailor Iris didn't get time to react, as the Youma lowered its head down, aiming it's strange seesaw-like horns at the sailor scout, and began to charge. All she managed to get out was a "Oh crap!" before the blunt horns collided with her, pushing her powerfully forward, flying onto the grass. The senshi of Rainbows was grateful that her landing was soft, but she literally felt like she had just been hit by a motorcycle. She rolled slightly so her back was against the soft grass and let out a groan.
There was always a first for everything, even getting your *ss handed to you in battle.

Once they made it into the trees, branches brushing against her from every which way, she bent down to carefully unhook Raja from the harness. Those she quickly stowed away at the base of one of the trees, assuming that in the chaos, no one would notice a harness and white cane shoved up against the giant. Even one so undoubtedly haphazardly hidden like hers.
"Raja, I need you to stay here for now, sweetie," she told her dog softly, catching the canine's face between her hands. "So stay girl. And hopefully that thing won't come this way." Last thing she needed was for her dog to get hurt again by one of those freaks! Shaking her head with growing determination, she felt around for that strange pen, steadied herself, and...
"METIS POWER MAKE-UP~!"
On with the strange outfit, out with her normal clothes.... and on with what was perhaps the most unsettling part about this whole thing: her "sight." Her eyes were still as useless as before, but in her mind... the world was aglow. The forest around her gave off all the green waves she was slightly expecting now from the flora, and in the distance she could just barely make out the last drops of copper figures as the people ran from the monster. Everyone was gone then? Good. With the waves bouncing off every obstacle, man-made or not, she bolted off towards the creature, quickly getting into range to see the looming black-auraed figure. And... wait, a copper figure? Another person? She was within distance to see the two, but with how quickly that monster was moving on on the other person...! Her hand to the gem on her tiara, she could just make out the various glowing energies collecting there above her line of "vision," the pressure building until~ "Mind's Eye Flare!"
She flung the orbs at the seesaw-minotaur, barely waiting for them to hit the target before she started for the fallen other. The monster was having a bit of a fit at least, shaking its head and roaring. From what she remembered of last time, that attack... blinded it, or at least so she hoped.
Too bad it was a pretty temporary effect.
Coming up to the other, she could see the waves of energies faintly outlining... a fuku? Sailor Metis shoved this thought aside as she grabbed the girl's arm, trying to yank her to her feet without dislocating the shoulder. "Come on! Get up! It's disorientated for now, but it's not going to last long." And when the effect was up... then what? Last time had all been pure luck, she was sure. Looking down to the girl she was trying to help... maybe a little bit of teamwork was in order?

Sailor Iris had thought for a brief while that she was done with. Her parents would find her in the hospital with a broken back at best.
However, a foreign and welcome sound rang in her ears.
"Mind's Eye Flare!"
With such, the seesaw beast which had been slowly creeping up to claim his prize seemed to lose interest and began to flail about helplessly. His seesaw horns began to rattle up and down from all his spinning around.
The blonde scout began to try and push herself up off the ground, but found someone else's arm there to assist her. When she finally looked, Sailor Iris was a bit surprised to see another Sailor Scout there. There was no introduction, but a quick explanation as to what happened. Smart girl, whoever she was.
"That's all I needed!" she said with a grin. Putting her hand out on her right side, she clenched her hand into a fist. Light began to glow from her hand, but soon enough formed a definite form. Fluttering out as it grew, Sailor Iris shouted "Iris Rainbow Ribbon!" As best as she could with a sore back, she began to charge towards the Youma. It was not going to get the best of her. She began to twirl her arm about in the fashion you'd see a rodeo cowboy do with a lasso. When she was close enough, she flung her rainbow ribbon at the beast.
Her aim was good, but it wasn't good enough. She had been aiming for the creature's neck. Instead, all she managed to do was get the bull by the horns to speak. In turn, the seesaw horns slid off, then fell to the ground heavily in front of the beast.
The now hornless minotaur blew out a puff of hot air from his nostrils. It might have had one less way of attacking, but it was far from defenseless.
"Sailor Senshi... I'll claim your star seeds!!" it almost howled out as it now picked up what used to be its horns. It was a very resourceful Youma to say the least, as it now used the seesaw as some sort of club.
"Oh... sh*t!!!" Sailor Iris ran out of the way, hoping to not be the first target again. Where Sailor Metis was standing, she shouted "Sailor WHATEVERYOUARE!!! USE YOUR EYE FLARE THING AGAIN!!!"

Relief was an understatement when Sailor Metis saw the other Senshi was at least able to stand. Never mind fight, apparently. She watched the other intently as she ran towards the beast, Metis' own hand raised loosely towards her forehead in case she was further needed. What a sight to see though! Sure she'd heard the news reports of "pranks" and "terrorists," but too bad news reporters wouldn't get the real gist of the situation.
When Sailor Iris' attack hit, she thought for a moment that might be it, that the lose of the horns would spell an easy victory for the girls. Apparently... that wasn't going to be the case with this jerk. "Well... at least you hit it?" Could have been worse. Average aim was better than total fail-every-time-aim, right? Watching as the creature picked up its horns, the phrase "Mess with the bull and deal with the horns," passed through her mind. So what do you do with a bull with no horns and just as much anger?
"Sailor Sneshi... I'll claim your star seeds!!" She winced at the sound of the creature's voice, kicking herself off into a run parallel the thing, closing the distance slightly between her and it in hopes of increasing the potency of her own attack. Which... apparently was needed sooner than she'd expected.
When Sailor Iris bolted in the other direction, Metis drew in closer still to the youma, keeping her eyes on the makeshift clubs. At least while it was focused on clubbing her temporary companion instead of her, the closer she could get to up the effect of her attack, the better! "I'm Metis, and I'd be more than happy to oblige." Bringing two fingers first to her lips and giving a swift and sharp whistle, she drew the monster's attention from the running Iris and onto her instead. The thing slowly began to move towards her, raising one of the clubs though it wasn't quite in range yet. "Mind's Eye Flare!" Just like before, from her tiara to the beast she flung the white orbs, and again the thing recoiled, pawing at its face and throwing a fit as the white flashes blinded it once more. "Your turn, friend!" she called to Iris, running around the failing thing towards the yellow clad girl.

Crap crap crap crap crap crap!!!
Sailor Iris continued to run until the overly angry beasty stopped and began to claw at his face. Last thing she needed were back problems for life. Or worse. She stopped just short of this Sailor Metis. Sounding a bit hurried, she muttered out "Yeah, yeah, Sailor Metis, got it, whatever!" Definitely wasn't the right time for introductions.
Once again, her right hand tightened up into a fist and soon enough another rainbowy ribbon was fluttering from her hand.
"Won't miss this time, ya *sshole!" she shouted out as she ran in once again while the Youma was distracted. In fact, the hornless minotaur had toppled over because of a lack of balance. Maybe Sailor Iris was feeling a bit cocky, but she couldn't help but wonder if it was trying to make this too easy for her and her temporary partner.
"IRIS RAINBOW RIBBON!!!" she shouted once more as her arm twirled the ribbon, then flung it at the beast as it tried to prop itself up. Now that the horns were no longer in the way, the scout's aim was much better. She aimed for the neck, and she got the neck!
Now, any previous Youma she had fought didn't really have much form, so when she used the attack, it actually sliced right through the beastie without a problem. This time, though the Minotaur-beast began to screech in pain, it wasn't a quick slice. The light from the rainbow burned through the fur, the skin, and began to cut through the flesh. The creature's neck began to gush with a nearly black liquid as its pained cries grew fainter. It was truly suffering in its last moments.
Maybe if she had been a kinder soul who hadn't learned to ignore blood and such in videogames, she might have stopped out of pity. Ah the things you learned thanks to your friends. Thank you Jared! Holding onto the ribbon as tight as she could, she continued to pull tightly. She could feel the ribbon cutting through, the minotaur's flesh giving way.
"...just a little more..."
