Faolan was stretched out on the floor, laying on his belly with a childrens' book, reading it out loud to the twins. He'd gotten a little time to himself today and decided the best way to spend it was with his babies. That included Bert, the puppy curled up in a wrinkled fat ball on the small of Fao's back, snoring away.

Contessa padded into the room and peered around, her ears up and listening to everything around her. The cocker spaniel puppy spotted her wrinkly companion sleeping on the talking-person and decided now would be a good time for a game. Picking up speed, she raced across floor and jumped onto the other puppy, yapping excitedly and uncaring that she'd landed with all of her weight onto Faolan's back at the same time.

Faolan let out a wuff of air, and twisted around to look at the two puppies. "Elle! Come get your dog."
Bert batted a paw at Contessa, still sleepy. Yawning the pup curled back up and dozed off again.

Contessa batted back at Bert and started yapping, wanting the lazy wrinkle-ball to get up and play already! What was the sense in sleeping all the time? None! It was time to PLAY!
Instead of Ellandra, it was Rhian who came in, following the sound of the yapping puppy. "Um, want me to go play with Contessa, Faolan?" A moment later, Ellandra showed up, her hands smudged with ink and pencil, and a smear of it across her forehead as well; she had been busy writing until she had heard the loud yapping.
"Faolan? What's going on?"

"Contessa being Contessa," Faolan grunted, wiggling a bit to get the more active puppy off. "Bert donnae want t' play wi' her. An' I wis readin' t' th' bairms." He gave Elle a puppy-dog look. "You got smudges on you."

"Smudges?" Ellandra asked, blinking owlishly and completely not understanding what Faolan was referring to. "What do you mean?" Rhian, meanwhile, grabbed Contessa and shushed the puppy, cuddling her before sitting next to Faolan and letting Contessa go in favor of scooping up the bulldog and cuddling him, smooshing around his wrinkles just for the fun of it.

Faolan pointed to the spot on his face where Elle had a smudge on her own. "You hae some sort o' black here." He looked back at Rhian and smiled at her. "He's not as active as Contessa if you're wantin' to play."
Bert waved his paws around and yawned as if to prove the man's point.

Ellandra blinked. "Oh.... I must have put my hand to my head or something, I suppose...." She made no move to wipe it off, however, knowing she'd just wind up with another once she went back to writing. Scooping up her puppy, she smiled as Faolan. Should I leave you to your storytelling?"
Rhian giggled and snuggled Bert. "I don't need to play, and Bert doesn't wriggle as much when you cuddle him! Plus he's all chubby!"

"You can sit an' listen if you want," Faolan purred up to his wife then looked to Rhian. "Well, bulldogs like him just ain't tha' active. He's a rather tolerant breed of pup."

Ellandra smiled and sat down on the other side of Faolan, before she changed her mind and moved so she was lying half on top of him. "If I'm going to listen, I might as well be comfortable, hm?"
Rhian just giggled and squished Bert's wrinkles around some more.

Faolan rumbled happily, his expression almost like a content kitty, before continuing on reading to the twins. After a moment he stopped and looked back at Elle. "How come you ne'er wrote kid books?"

Ellandra giggled a little, smiling at some secret only she knew. "I did, actually. Just a few, and under a different pen name. My first book ever published was actually a children's book." She didn't name a title though, in fact the book embarrassed her a little because she considered it one of her worst works. "I'm just better at writing for adults, I think."

"Should write kid books. Bet Farstep has plenty of stuff t' turn int' weird adventures fae kids," Faolan chuckled, watching the twins. "Maybe you should write it about them. Think on it. Could help a lot o' other kids out there. I mean, it donnae hae t' exactly be Sam an' Bel, but you know, kids like 'em."

Ellandra rested her chin on Faolan's head. "Hmmm, maybe. . . or maybe I could talk to Keagan and write about the adventures a certain someone with red hair who got into lots of mishaps and adventures as a child."
