Eiriol sat in the meadow, a small stack of berries by his side and a handkerchief in his hand. He had been spending the day practicing his magic and doing rather well considering he had lost his cards. Unfortunately he lacked an audience to astound and amaze, someone to floor with his sleight of hand. Everyone back home was busy, his normal friends weren't about, and he was feeling kind of lonely...

Hadyn walked into the meadow, looking up at the sky for a moment before glancing around the meadow. Her eye was instantly drawn to a white Namir. She walked towards him, she figured she would talk. All she had planned was wandering around before going to play some card games.
"Hello!" She said when she was closer.

Eiriol turned, smiling when he saw the very unique namir who had greeted him. He had never seen a namir like her before, with her rounded ears and bushy tail. But she had probably never seen a namir liek himself, with small eyes and a very feline tail.
"Hi, I'm Eiriol," he greeted. He paused a seond, took a deep breath and continued, "Would you like to see a magic trick I've been working on?"

"The name's Hadyn." She looked at the handkerchief and the berries. She liked magic tricks. Mainly because she couldn't do them, and she liked to figure out how it was done. "Sure, show me your trick." She said, sitting down.

Eiriol smiled. This was, in all technicality, a big step for him seeing as how he didn't interact with other namrah very often.
"Okay, so you see this berry?" he asked, holding up a small blue berry, "you could eat it if you really wanted, it's totally normal." He then covered the berry with the handkerchief, waved his paw over the entire package, then lifted the handkerchief to reveal an empty paw. He smiled, it worked! It actually worked!

Hadyn smiled. "Cool!" She said, thinking of how simple it could be, but how much she would mess it up if she tried it.
She also had to smile at how amazed Eiriol seemed when it worked.
"You're pretty good. I know I would mess it up if I tried." SHe was about to ask him if he knew any card tricks, when she realized that she forgot her cards. "What other types of magic tricks do you know?"

Eiriol smiled.
"Well truth be told I'm far better with card tricks," his smile turned to a frown as he imagined the little teen namir who did away with his last deck of cards, "Unfortunately...my last deck was...err...eaten."

"Wow... That sucks." Hadyn started. "But, hey, what's done is done." She then thought of the one card trick that she knew, which was also the only trick she could do. "I like card tricks. But, I forgot my cards. I was actually going to play a game of solitaire, but," She shrugged, "then I found you."

"Kinda does...especially seeing as it was my last deck," he frowned, then gave a shrug. He couldn't deny that she was also right about letting things like that go. It was her last statement, the one about solitaire, that got him excited."You like cards?" Eiri asked, his ears perked up a bit. He loved cards, mostly because his father had always played cards with the family when he was a kid. No one at home ever wanted to play with him...that or they got really distracted.

"Yup! I love cards!" Hadyn started, noticing how his ears perked up. "A simple game, based on luck. Just like life." This was her main philosphy. Life was a game of cards. "You win our lose, you're lucky or you're not. Either way, you just have to get over things and just start over with shuffle of the deck, and try again." She shrugged. "I guess it's a different way to say, 'If at first you don't succeed, try, try again,' you know?"

"Dad says sometimes it's a game of skill, whether or not you can bluff, or what to do with your cards. But I think you're right too, with the luck thing." He smiled. He liked her analogy of card games to life, nodding when she put in her last point. He then gave a small laugh, "Or like a roll of the dice, you're never too sure which numbers you'll get, all you can do is hope for the best."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 02, 2009 3:50 pm

"Exactly." Hadyn smiled. She liked how this namir picked up points easily and understood her analogies. Others usually didn't understand her way of thinking. "All you can hope for is the best in life. I always put skill in when you need to get out of a situation. So you're dad's right too."

Eiriol felt good about meeting Hadyn. It was nice to share so much in common with someone new, especially when you had trouble meeting new friends.
"So...Are you a gambler then?" he asked curiously, noting how all of her analogies were gambling based.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 03, 2009 4:35 pm

Hadyn sat and thought about this for a while. She didn't really like getting put into the 'gambler' stereotype, but when she thought about the way she viewed life, she could see how she would fit in. She would always take a chance on something, unless there was a huge risk.
"I guess you could call me a gambler. But I see myself as more than that. I'm a risk-taker, who tries to live with no regrets... If that makes sense." She faded off, that wasn't exactly what she wanted to say, but she couldn't give words to how she saw herself.

Eiriol shrugged with a simple smile. He got it.
"No it makes sense. You know when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, but you're always looking for more." He got a lot of his gambling lingo from his dad, "My dad's like that...only sometimes it seems like he regrets a lot....and he worries a lot too."
