All our lives, Anywhere we are, Just reach out-I'll never be too far. Come what may
Name: Zia Age: 17 Gender: Female Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Craft: Dragonrider Rank: Jr. Weyrling
History: Raised by a wonderfully caring Foster mother in the lower caverns, Zia has been able to grow and flourish into the young woman she is today. Both parents busy in their duties to the Weyr do not see her often. She tries to maintain a friendly relationship with them now that she is older, but her foster mother is the person she runs to at the end of a hard day.
Zia has two foster brothers, the oldest is ten and the youngest five, she chases them around taking care of them on any typical day that she is not receiving Candidate lessons or chores.
A fond memory that Zia has was her fifteenth birthing day, Arna gifted her with a firelizard egg. The little egg seemed like it would be large enough for an average sized blue or perhaps a large green, and much to their surprise out came, Bark a brown that is a bit on the scrawnier side. His companionship has been a wonderful experience in Zia’s life. She uses him to run small errands and he is quite behaved, if she’s not in the same part of the Weyr with her foster siblings she’ll send him to check on them, and in some cases the little brown has been known to scold. Family: Foster Mom: Arna Foster brothers: Dorn (10) and Timel (5)
Appearance: Her body type is on the plumper side and curvy, she is of an average height for Weyr folk. She has long curly black hair that she feels is untamable, she keeps it held back in a loose, messy braid. She has hazel-green eyes that seem a bit too small for her face. There is nothing remarkable about her complexion she is neither extremely pale or extremely tan, she falls somewhere inbetween.
Personality: Compassionate, extroverted, and mothering are three words that sum up Zia. Have a boo-boo that needs kisses and a bandage? Zia’s happy to oblige, she has an extreme soft spot for children and hopes one day to be a superb foster mother, just like her own. She can often be seen spending time with younger weyrbrats and candidates, and isn’t above playing childish games with them.
She will happily welcome new candidates to the Weyr, and will offer to help them get settled and acquainted with the Weyr. She thinks she has a knack for the names of people she has met and will get quite flustered if she cannot recall someone’s name. Zia chatters constantly, sometimes a running monologue play-by-play of what’s happened (“Oh my goodness, did you see that dragon take off like that! Oh I bet that that’s so-and-so!”), or an endless assault of questions. Because of her chatter Zia at times must be give instructions a second—or third time.
Although she’s always speaking, Zia dislikes gossip because it can be hurtful and is often times untrue, she will quickly scold any child she catches spreading rumors, or at the very least cluck her tongue disapprovingly. There will never be a moment where she’s caught gossiping or spreading a rumor.
Zia stands on the Sands for Hatchings out of formality, she does not honestly expect to Impress, she sells herself short and believes that a dragon wouldn’t want to be paired with her. She has a deep seated fear of going between and is positive it will keep any dragon from wanting her.
Because of her willingness to help Zia often gets walked on in her attempt to please others. Saying ‘no’ is not an easy task for this Candidate and she has had her feelings hurt quite a few times because of it. In the last turn she's been trying very hard to learn to say no when something isn't possible or being asked for too much.
There I'll stay Anytime you need a friend.

When you're down, And your luck runs out, Or if you're in trouble or in doubt, It's OK- Turn my way. Green Redfith
Zia, your Redfith is here, if you will have her. I know she is more beautiful than I, but I will do my very best.
Redfith is inspired by the song Anytime You Need a Friend by The Beu Sisters and colored by Kaelyndra Feeling sad? Feeling low? Well, cut it out. There's no reason to be that way with Redfith here. This green is the best friend anyone could ask for. She is loyal to the point of being selfless, and selfless to the point of self-sacrifice. Not a day goes by she doesn't help a friend, and she considers nearly everyone to be a friend. Waved to her this morning? You're a friend of hers. No, really. That's all it takes. Redfith will love like she's never been hurt no matter how many times she's burned. If someone does something bad, they need do no more than apologize, and she will forgive and forget. No strings attached. Everybody makes mistakes. Her, too.
Redfith is an honorable dragon, but not without her flaws. She's prone to wanting what she can't have and being jealous of those who do. (Her main button? Motherhood. Golds will get the chance, but not her!) Only her rider will know about it, though; she does a good job of seeming like a complete saint to the public. Not for the sake of manipulation (there's rarely any gain for her anyway), but out of shame. Too often she will be misunderstood as a simple minded, happy-go-lucky green that doesn't think twice about accepting everyone because she just doesn't think period. That is far from the fact of the matter, which is that Redfith is very deep and frustratingly complex. The struggle between trying to convince herself she can be perfect and trying to actually make herself perfect will have her head spinning. Believe it or not, it isn't too out there to say in her quest to be absolutely "pure", Redfith could seriously drive herself insane.
The inner warfare she casts upon herself in no way seeps through to the outside world. To them, Redfith is fine; she is confident. Never will she mind playing the role of assistant to Sharath, whom she does so adore. At the same time, Redfith is aware she's a green, and although there are things she can't do because of it (and things she's jealous she can't do), she is proud of that. Many look at her as an ambassador between the higher and lower colors. She understands both sides have problems and will mutually support them. Deep down, she secretly enjoys it when people come to her with this and any other problem. It makes her feel important. Being needed is the best thing in the world to her. Having someone need her makes her feel like she's somebody special.
As she gets older, Redfith will become like everyone's mother instead of everyone's friend. Hatchings will be a time of excitement for her, and so will flights. The act itself will not lure her in, but the attention that comes with being chased will. For once, it will be only about her. But why?! A big thing that drew Redfith to Zia is her desire to be a foster mother. The keyword being foster. While many women may want to have a child, to want to foster one is different and, to Redfith, singles her out from those women. Redfith will never have offspring of her own, and is delighted to find someone who wants to take those of other people. They can both adopt anyone they want in due time.
Besides that, she is grateful for Zia's vocal nature but aversion to gossip. Redfith hates it, too, and would never utter such lies either.
What finalized Redfith's decision is how humble she considers Hers to be. She sees herself in rider. They are both individuals who have honest to goodness potential, but sell themselves short.
Maybe, together, they won't anymore.
Anytime you need a friend.
