But why must I go? Astarteth bugged her rider for the umpteenth time. The green had made her rider wash and oil her to perfection this day and was now quite content to lay in the sunshine. If Dorath needs me, she can just talk to me.
"Because, beloved. We arrived not too long before the Hatching and we have not yet officially introduced ourselves to our Weyrwoman and her gold. It is our duty to make ourselves known," Kallista explained patiently. Her normally copperish locks were starting to darken from decreased sunlight. She stood in front of a piece of polished copper and did her hair up. She had on her best riding jacket and wore a new pair of boots. It had taken a few turns to get her hair back to its former length but now that it was there, she was not going to cut it.
Astarteth snorted. I don't see why we have to present ourselves. If she wants us, she can find us. She thinks herself to high and mighty to socialize with greens, no matter how sleek and quick I may be.
This last part sounded more like a personal complaint than a general statement. Truth be told, Kallista had no clue of the gold rider or her dragon's temperment. Tightening her belt, Kallista walked out to the ledge and climbed onto her beauty. "The sooner we get this over with, the sooner we can go flying. How about that?"
Fine. Fine. Her dragon grumbled. Maybe we can go to the shore and meet that blue again. He was interesting.
Taking off, they glided across the bowl to the queen rider's section and particularly to Dorath's ledge. They bugled a sort of underling welcome to Dorath and Luci. Greetings, gold Dorath. I am Astarteth, formerly of Ista. We are part of the group that transfered in.
