It was nearly dusk when Feidhlim woke up. Peeking out from the den he shared with some of his ever-growing family, he watched sleepily as the first few stars appeared overhead. Most of them would be obscured by the heavy mists that refreshed themselves in the cool of the night, but at this time of day there were clear patches that revealed the inky blue velvet of the sky. Silently he lifted himself to his feet and stretched. Another beautiful night...

He deftly tried to step over his siblings to make his way out of the cave. Finally it seemed like he was home free...he grimaced, feeling himself stumble over something much softer and squishier than stone.

"Ah...Darn." His words were half-whispered, and he stopped to see who he'd stepped on.

The sleeping lion startled awake with a grumble as he opened one sapphire blue eyes and gazed upwards. He hadn't expected Feid to be the culprit.. Maybe one of his other brothers maybe, but not Feid.

"What're you doing?" He whispered, careful not to wake the remaining family that still slept. He didn't want to tell on his brother, even if he had woken him from a nice dream.

They had grown, and were much larger now. Fully grown, the family had stayed tight knit, and it seemed they would never be parted.
He waited for a response, but stood quietly, careful not to kick any stone or rock that could be lying around.

He motioned Feid out, and smiled, taking his leave out of the den to see the night that seemed so glorious.

Feid frowned when Chicha woke. He'd hoped his brother would sleep through the bump...nothing for it though. He waited in silence until they left the den together, then paused to take a deep breath. The air was rich with the scent of lion, earth, and water...a perfect mixture, he'd decided. He looked up at the sky, drinking it in...

"I'm sorry, brother. I didn't mean to trip over you and wake you." He bowed his head, contrite. "I was distracted by how beautiful our home is..." It was the truth, and he turned back to survey the lands. Lions wandered here and there, faintly visible, but distinct now that he was used to it. What to others might seem mere pale blurs in the mist were individuals to those of the pride. He and his siblings could identify any of the pride at eve na distance an through the thickest fog.

"Sometimes I forget that we did not always live here..."

Chincha enjoyed the way the air of the pride always smelled. It smelled of security, earthy and light. He loved their new home, though he had still been trying to adjust to a pride life.. He was doing quite well, if only he could figure out what it was he was meant for.

"Don't worry." He mumbled, yawning a bit, his pink tongue curling out of his maw and forming a semi circle, before darting back into his mouth.

"It is easy to get lost in that view, that's for sure. Do you think we were meant to find this place? I think.. I think we were. Even with father being in the 'Swamplands', I don't think I could leave the new lands."

Feid listened silently but intently as his brother spoke. He agreed with his siblings almost always, especially on their thoughts of their new home. "Still. I wish I hadn't woke you. You seemed to be having a nice dream."

He looked over to his brother ,spied a twig or stone tangled in his mirror-budding mane, and leaned in to pluck it free. He let it drop to the ground, normally a nearly noiseless thing, but in the silence of the mist it seemed loud. "I wonder what Father's lands are like, really. I can see how mother would be attracted to him though. She says that the lions of the swamp are much how those here are. Fleeting pale forms between the trees, hiding behind the fog from the swamp."

He nodded, chuckling a bit with a smile.
"Oh yes, the dream was lovely.. I dreamt of futures and happy things. It made me happy it was only my brother that would wake me from such a dream."
He would have hated for it to have been something dangerous to wake to. It would have not been such a pleasant, relieving sight.

"I like how we are so talented as to be able to see the moving ghosts of the pride. We are all one with our surroundings.. All hidden until making ourselves known."
He nodded a bit, white mane bobbing to and fro.

"I think we shall live long prosperous lives here Feid.. But how are you? It seems its been such a long while since we actually..spoke about how our lives are.."
He felt sad that he had been such a loner, only to be around mother when she wanted, and always trying to stay out of his siblings way..Though they had all stayed close somehow.

Perhaps sensing his brother's unease, Feidhlim moved closer, draping his head over the darker lion's back. It was a reassuring gesture, one meant to comfort the other. "I have no doubt this is the land we were made for. Or perhaps it was made for us. Regardless, it is ours and we are its. I cannot imagine us being unhappy here."

"I am well. The land speaks to me often, and our pride is full of kindly folk. The weather is fair, and the mists are thick. Because of that it is that I am well. Life is uneventful for me, but that may be how I like it. One adventure was enough, perhaps. And for you? How are things?"

He listened intently, flicking a dark grey ear as he listened to his brother speak. He interested him, though most everyone did. Feid was a brother, and he wanted to be closer to his brothers..

"I'm learning to be silent in the mists like the others. Im still kinda rocky at it. I guess I didn't get mothers grace."

He chuckled, flicking his tail side to side as he nudged his brother in jest.

Feid chuckled in turn, pawing at Chincha's side. "Perhaps not. But nor did I. The way some of our siblings talk, you'd think I was a great elephant trying to tear through the land at a gallop." He smiled and removed his head from his brother's back. With a slight nod, he motioned for Chin to follow. He had a bit of morning breath, and aimed to get a drink from the nearby water pools to assuage it.

"I am part mother, part father. From neither of them though did I get the grace some here move with." He laughed lightly, and hunkered over the water to drink. "I prefer it that way though. My place is near the heart of the pride, not on the fringes." He looked back over his shoulder at his brother. "I've decided to be a Shepard. I think it suits me. Have you thought yet on your path in the mist?"

He listened, and nodded. He purred a bit as his brother comforted him. He loved his family, and it was a gesture he wanted to keep.
"But then again, you likely were, Fied."
He chuckled a bit, pawing at him gently, before walking forward to follow his brother as he was motioned.

"You make sense. I never have really been much of anything besides in the way. The clumsiness of myself is rather shameful."
He laughed, though keeping sure to keep it quiet as they werent so very far from the den.
He lowered his head, lapping at the water, before pulling his head back and licking his lips.

"I think I shall be the one who is on the fringe. Ive opted to be a Ghost, working with brother Caide as well."

"I'm sure you will learn. Think how much of our lives we spent in the open savanna. We had to be loud then, to seems a large, strong band, and keep foes away. Things are so different here, it is just taking time to adapt." He wanted to cheer his brother up, to make him realize things would be just fine. "We have the rest of our lives to master the ways of the mists. You will make a fine Ghost, I should think. Both you and Caide."

He paused a moment, thinking more on their third brother. His posture stiffened just so, and he cleared his throat. "I hear of late, Caide has quite taken to one of the females of the pride. I suspect it won't be long until we meet her." The statement was a fairly plain one, but there was a subtle hint hidden within. He himself hadn't found any female too interesting yet, and he wondered if he was alone in this.

Chincha chuckled at his brother and nodded.
"Oh I know I shall fare well among the pride. Im doing a good job getting used to it and such."
He smiled, and his tail flicked in curiousity as he thought his brother Caide.
Caide had found someone already? How funny.. He had found a little female that he had been planning to bring to the pride. Only he aged faster than she did, and they were still waiting on herself to be an adolescent to join him.
But he had been alone for such a long time, he had felt sure no one could ever love him.
He was happy he had his family, and now that love could be considered, it was a happy feeling.

"I found someone who may be worthy." He said, clearing his throat and standing tall as well. He did not want to upset Fied, and he could tell that Fied wasnt exactly...approving.

Feid blinked, almost surprised. It was strange to not know everything about his family after he had for so long. That was the natural way of things though, and he was not upset by it. Briefly he felt a peculiar emotion, one he hadn't felt before, and only after it had passed did he realize it had been jealousy. That...wasn't good. He should be happy for his brothers.

"Oh? Well that is fortunate. I'm glad for you, brother. Perhaps all the good girls are lingering at the edges of the pride, hmm?" Both brothers ghosts, both interested in their own females...He shrugged mentally. When the one meant for him appeared, he would know her. Until then he shouldn't pander about with those he would eventually have to leave, or be left by. That was cruel to both parties. "Do I know her?"

He nosed into his brother, nuzzling his neck and trying his best to make him smile. He could see something bothering him, but tried to put it aside. He wasnt sure how Fied would react to bringing it up.

So he went on with the conversation, trying to make sure that he didnt say too much that could upset his brother. That was the last thing he wanted to do.

"No Im afraid none of the family does.. But Id love for you to meet her." He smiled brightly.

"She had a bit of an attitude at first, but she really is quite the princess."

Feid chuckled and shook his head. "I would like to meet her, by all accounts. It would do to have a few more rowdy sort in the mists. Lest we all become lethargic, I suppose. I approve of her, provided she makes you happy, brother." He was mature enough to fight down his own worries about not finding a mate. This was about his brother and his lady, not Feid. He smiled and nosed his brother back.

"You will find your own, brother. You will find someone who makes your heart pound. You just havent found one that is deserving yet is all."
Oh great, now he beginning to sound like momma. He shrugged though. He didnt mind sounding like mother.

She was smart, and would know what to do in situations likes this.

"She'd love to meet you too, Im sure."
He rolled onto his back, sprawling a bit as another yawn touched his maw. He looked up at his brother with a grin.

"So why the late night romp?"

Feid nodded, agreeing that his brother sounded like their mother. Of course he adored his mother, and that fact gave his brother's words more weight. Better to wait for the right one than to rush along with the wrong one. He could wait. He'd ever been the patient type.

He pawed absently at his brother as he lay down. He still felt bad for waking him, but their conversation had been a good thing. Long overdue. "No reason, I suppose. The world is nice at this time. I woke up, and decided to go be a part of it beyond a lion laying in a den."

He smiled and pawed back at his brother playfully. It looked rather funny, the two talking and such in the moonlight. Two full grown lions playing like cubs as they batted at each other.

"You, my nocturnal brother."
He said with a chuckle, rolling over to lay on his belly, as the dust of the earth clung to the top of his pelt.

"Are you planning on heading in anytime soon?"
He asked, yawning again and his eyes beginning to feel heavy. He was tired, as he had had a long day of patrolling. Though he was happy they had talked. He missed his family.

Feid chuckled at his brother's yawn, then found himself mirroring it. "I suppose so, yes. If you are ready, we can turn in. The mists will be here when we wake again." He stood and took a few steps towards the den, looking back over his shoulder. "Back to the family pile, yes?" Despite how crammed it was, the family den was the perfect resting place. Soon, he mused, they might need to find a bigger den. One that could hole the partners of all his siblings...but that time was far away. For now he was content with just himself and his dear family.
