Hugging his chest, Lauss' body shook a bit from the dropping temperatures outside, having never experienced any kind of cold before today. The weather was getting unpleasant, and he much preferred the warmth of the summer. It was by no means freezing outside, and most would likely just consider it slightly chilly, but for this particular alter, it was as if he was standing in a snow storm naked. He was thankful that he was heading for shelter, hoping the restaurant Uzi had invited him to kept the place nice and toasty. He wasn't told what they served, what kind of cuisine they'd be eating today, but wasn't exactly concerned with that. He had grown, and was under the assumption that she had, too. What did she look like? Was she still the same? Would they still get along? Even now that he wasn't allowed to shoot guns? Rubbing at his cheeks to keep them warm, he decided to just wait and see, his excitement growing as he reached the doors of the restaurant, pulling himself inside and standing there, searching for Uzi in the small waiting area they had.
Nope, not here. Perhaps she was farther inside. Wandering past the "Please Wait to be Seated" sign, Lauss search from table to table, booth to booth, looking for Uzi. Oh... he didn't even know what she looked like, did he? This was bad. He'd have to ask them, it seemed. Leaning forward, Lauss peered at a family sitting in a booth, enjoying their meal until he came forward, eying each individually. "Are you Uzi?" He asked the eldest daughter. When the reply was, "Ummm, no? Hey, can you bring us more of whatever these things are?" Lauss whimpered a bit, wandering away and sulking, going to another table to ask them.

The chill in the air was noticeable to Uzi also though for the huntress it was less of a concern. Her body was still made to brave the elements and while she felt the cold it wasn't devastating to her. Still the animal like alter moved through the streets as briskly as possible without arousing suspicion. She didn't want to keep Lauss waiting too long and she was sure he'd reach their destination first. It was perhaps the only disadvantage to living out on the edge of Vargas, being so far from those she wished to see and so far from anywhere to go that was interesting.
She hoped at least that the restaurant would be interesting. Eli had said that the chef there was originally from another city and that he'd brought with him a lot of new foods that everyone seemed to like. Uzi was game to giving this new food a try and she'd felt that this place was a good neutral ground on which to meet her old friend. It wasn't going to be a cheap trip or reunion but Eli had agreed to give her money to pay with saying she needed to take her mind off recent events, that she couldn't worry twenty four seven. it was with his blessing that Uzi had taken the time to call up lauss and arrange for them to finally see each other in their alter forms.
Entering the restaurant she immediately picked up the old familiar if somewhat changed scent. Her Golden eyes scanned the waiting area as she breathed deeper and tried to figure out just where the other essentic was.

At that moment, Lauss could feel that Uzi was close, could somehow sense she was here. But where? None of these booths had kitty people in them, and none really screamed Uzi. Perhaps she was behind this door? Venturing through to what looked like the restaurant's kitchen, he was quickly "escorted" back out by a man with beef all over his gloved hands, being shoved out the door and having his clothes tainted with uncooked meat. A rather angry looking female stormed up to him soon after, grabbing the young essentic by the collar and pulling him back toward the front, muttering something about "delinquent teenagers" and "young people these days". "Uzi!" Lauss called as he found his friend, immediately recognizing her, even with her very different appearance. Releasing him with a forceful push as they neared the entrance, she folded her arms as she said, "You've been disturbing all our guests, been wandering into Employee only areas, and have ignored the restaurant's wait-to-be-seated policy. As manager, I would like you to leave." Paying no attention to the woman, Lauss hopped to his essentic buddy, standing straight as he neared her, hoping she'd comment on how handsome he'd become.

Uzi tried hard not to laugh, it was so very.. lauss like to have such a thing happen to him. " Hello lauss I see you have not changed." He was no longer a proto but he was certainly still the same in personality and troublesome nature. " I like your hair" she noted " and your skin is dark" she had expected him to be all pale like his body had been before. Then again she currently didn't look like she had in her previous body either, still all muted tones as she couldn't figure out how to get the bright ones back again.
The alter smiled as she examined her friend, not at all bothered by the way the restaurant staff member seemed displeased with their presences. They'd deal with that when they were done greeting each other.

Lauss grinned to his friend, patting at his hair as she mentioned it, and then looking down at his skin to inspect it. "I... I am, aren't I?" He frowned a bit, not really having paid that any mind until just now. "I'll be working on fixing that, however. I won't stay out in the sun much, and perhaps I could look into sunscreen. Hm. I plan to be as pale as the Victorians some day. Perhaps I should look into the poisons they used to keep their skin white..." The alter nodded, as if that were a very important goal of his. He felt like thanking Uzi for pointing that out to him. He spoke up again, and though his words likely didn't sound like the semi-compliment he was attempting to give her, he didn't imagine she could take it as an insult as he said, "You're much more dull looking. It's difficult to see you in a crowd of people now. Perhaps that's helpful with hunting, however." He really wouldn't know. He'd never gotten the chance to accompany her. Thinking for a moment, he reminded himself that he wasn't supposed to fire a gun, but that didn't mean he couldn't watch a professional like Uzi do it, right? Perhaps she'd let him tag along some time.
"Excuse me, miss? Either you're eating alone or you're leaving this restaurant. This boy isn't fit for public, obviously... He's not welcome at this restaurant." She said her words rather confidently, but the look the manager was giving Uzi was anything but that. Uzi still looked dangerous, even after she'd grown.

Uzi's tail suddenly stilled and her ears pinned back against her head. She'd respond to Lauss in just a moment, first she needed to deal with this rude little human trying to order her about. The combat essentic took orders and ultimatums from Eli only. " We are eating here or are your turning away a member of the Katan household for a brief lapse in manners." They were both young looking still but Uzi exuded the the aura and temperament of someone beyond her age, at least that of a huffy teen." For a restaurant so new it seems like such a bad idea." Hopefully lee's family name held sway here, it wasn't like Eli's would and Uzi refused to mention Banning in anything until she actually met the man.

Lauss tilted his head at Uzi's new demeanor, finding her to be acting like an entirely different person. She was, indeed, a female. Lee and Rhian did this all the time -- changed personalities over seemingly unnoticeable details in a conversation. He kept quiet, though. Do not speak unless spoken to.
Katan... Katan... Where had she heard that name before? The manager's eyes flashed open a moment as she realized that this young man may or may not be part of the movie producer Herbert Katan's family. Uzi and Lauss were lucky -- the Katan name rarely held much weight outside of the upper districts, but Mr. Katan was just well enough known to where his name was semi-recognizable. Either way, the young woman before her seemed deadly serious, and she wasn't about to turn her away for the other's senselessness. "I-I apologize -- please forgive my own brief lapse in manners. R-right this way..." The woman began leading them to a booth near a window, smiling nervously as she set down some menus for them. "I'll have a waitress serve you in just a moment..."
Lauss just plopped in his seat, not having noticed there was an kind of tension between Uzi and the woman, and smiled to himself as he looked out the window, happy to be inside where it was heated.

There was an almost feral grin on Uzi's face as the woman walked away, leaving her and Lauss in peace. It pleased the alter greatly that her ruse had worked, it seemed she did indeed have the female knack for manipulation.
The huntresses mind though soon switched back over to the matter at hand. Lauss she'd come here to see her old friend and talk to him, there were things they couldn't discuss of course but they were unlikely to come up anyways. Still there was plenty to say starting with answering the other alter's thoughts from earlier.
" My colours are good camouflage yes" She said softly ears flicking as she half listened to conversations around them. "I hide well in shadows and darkened areas, tree'd places too." She could still run down most anything she considered prey but Uzi was becoming a much much better ambush predator these days. " I still have my old ones though" she admitted "They come and go." It was odd but interesting to have both, to be able to change an aspect of herself even if not by will. " Do you know if others can do this?"

Lauss felt an odd tinge of jealousy at Uzi's words, frowning. "I wish I could... It would be nice to have white skin again." The alter would have to go at it the old fashioned way, it seemed. Sunblock. He looked down at his hands, wishing he had some kind of magic ability like all the others seemed to have. Gliding was nice while he had it, but even that was gone now. Perhaps, though, there was something he just hadn't discovered yet...? "How did you find out about changing colors?" Was it something that just came about? Or did she do something to trigger it?

Uzi's ears dropped a bit at that question drummed her fingers on the table for a moment before answering. " I don't know it just happened one day." That much she could confesses to. " it's just sort of happens right now but I'm trying to control it." She'd hadn't been able to meditate or focus in a peaceful manner since the incident. The huntress needed to ground herself but it was proving impossible to find the time.
"I'm sure there's a way to get you white skin again." The alter assured her friend, not that she thought he looked bad this way just different.

Tilting his head, Lauss leaned forward, giving Uzi an uncharacteristically determined look. "Do you think you could help me?" He wanted to be pale so very, very badly. It was just so pretty, how unhealthy and white the Victorians looked. At least in Lee's textbooks.
A blond, blindingly pale waitress came up to the booth, handing out menus and introducing herself as "Sandy". Lauss shrunk in his seat, admiring her skin, finding it to be rather coincidental that she'd have such a perfect complexion when that's what their conversation was about. Sighing, he looked over the menu, suddenly feeling strangely lost. "I've never heard of any of this..." That wasn't to say he didn't want to find out, of course.

Uzi had been about to answer Lauss when they were interrupt by the appearance of their waitress. The blond didn't interest her much but the menus did. Uzi's eyes narrowed as she scanned over the small print recognizing some words and not others. At least it all came under nice headings. Salads, meats, fish, pasta. " I'll try the Seco de chivo?" Uzi didn't have a clue what it meant but it sounded interesting, though she'd probably pronounced it wrong.
The huntress looked away from her menu and at Lauss " Just guess, if we don't like it we can try somewhere normal later." Not that she had a lot of spare money but still, she wouldn't let her friend starve. Besides today was a day to be a bit daring to try something new, no one said they had to enjoy what they tried.

Squinting as he scanned the menu over, he figured he'd like something under the fish section, and randomly pointed to one item under it. "This, please." He didn't know what it was, and didn't much care. He was a picky eater, sure, but that didn't mean he didn't like to try new things.
"Alright. One Seco de chivo and one cup of jellied eels, is that correct?" Lauss shrugged, and the waitress nodded, taking the menus from them and heading off, leaving the two to chat.

Once the woman was gone Uzi returned her attention back to Lauss and his plea for pale skin. " I don't know if I can help you" she began mind immediately returning back to the conversation" but I can try, you could come visit and we could practice changing colours together." Surely between the two of them they could figure it out.
