Ylva seemed to be taking out the pups more and more out of the den. The puppies were starting to grow and become more restless. The crystal cavern was a suitable size for now but soon the pups wouldn't be able to stay in there all day and need more playing room.
Kumo loved getting out of that den. It was so nice to be out in the sun and out of the blue glow that was their home. However, he didn't like being constantly monitored. The pups couldn't have any fun on their own as Ylva was a bit of an overly protective mom. Sneaking away was not an easy task at all.
So, Kumo sat , looking outward at the plains, plotting his great escape. Of course the pup planned to come back after he was done exploring , but the question now was how.
He watched her for a moment. She seemed preoccupied with something going on with the other pups, a smile curved on Kumos maw.
And he was off, bolting across the plains threw the thick of the grass. Freedom!

Adjoa, normally the sort to stay close to her mother, was sitting off to the side today. A fight had broken out between her siblings and mama didn't have the time to pay her any attention. She was off sulking like this when she noticed her big brother running off into the grass.
One glance at mom to make sure she was throughly distracted and then she bolted after him.
The moment she was in the cover of the grass she started squealing, "Kumo! Kumo! Where'd you go?"

It didn't seem as if his sisters were paying as much attention to him these days. Mal was acting all weird and Azshara was spending nearly all her time with alone with her. He honestly didn't get what all the fuss was about.
So, off he'd wandered yet again. The grasslands were full of small and interesting things to sniff, case, and roll in. He planned to do a healthy amount of all of these things before heading back home again.

The light tan hyena's ear twitched. Oh great, he had been followed. Judging from the voice, it was momma girl Adjoa. Kumo's brows lowered some and he sniffed the ground to find her scent. Didn't want to yell back to her and alert Ylva that two of her pups were missing. She seemed to have her paws full though, last time Kumo cehcked at least.
This grass was so tall the pup couldn't see over it.
The pup just sniffed the ground. Not looking where he was headed at all as he played blood hound. This earned him a bump into something big and blue. A front leg to be exact.
"Wha?" He looked up. A lion, and not Chane. Kumo took a few steps back, his ears lowered and his tail between his legs. Kumo wasn't a chicken, he was just smart. Specially having Ylva and Asa as parents and their constant warning about what a stranger could do to you. Those talks had been nightmarish.

Adjoa kept calling for her brother, not thinking that maybe mom would be able to hear her cries. Not that it really mattered. If Ylva came for them she'd happily go back to the den.
It wasn't until she heard her brother's, "Wha?" that she had any idea which direction he'd gone. Upon hearing the yelp though she scurried in his direction. Surely he'd found something interesting!
Steken had been leaning forward letting the blades of grass tickle his nose when he felt something small bump into his leg. He blinked, then looked down. A... bunny? He blinked again. No, a little jackal!
His eyes danced over his new little friend. No doubt this little guy would play with him! A huge toothy grin spread across his face.

Kumo took a few paw steps backward. If he sprinted, maybe he could make it back to Ylva's safe glow. Ylva would save him right.
Kumo shook his head, he was being a momma's boy. That wasn't gonna fly if he wanted to be off on his own. The hyena straightened him self up and returned the toothy grin with a small one of his own.
"Heh..." The hyena backed up a few paw steps and bumped into his sister.

"Didn't you hear me calling you?" she huffed. So young and already such a typical woman. "You found something and you're keeping it all to yourself, aren't you?" both accusing and confidant.
Following her brother's stare she turned to look at Steken. She froze, eyes widening. "Eep!"
In Steken's mind, though, there was no problem. In fact, things where going splendidly! First he had one friend, now he had two! There was no worry in his small mind as to where the cubs had come from or what mom might think of him playing with them.
All he was worried about now was how to get them to play with them. Still grinning, he flopped down onto his belly, "Hey!"

Kumo's smile faded and he took a few more paw steps backwards.
"Not now sisss," He hissed, "Don'tcha see the big BLUE thing there?" Kumo wanted to run for it, but then he'd be pegged a ninny if he did that. Such choices. None of them seemed good, ninny, risk being eaten by the big blue lion.
When the lion flopped on his belly, however, the pup relaxed. Maybe he meant well.
"uhhh... What are you doing?"

Adjoa was confused herself. Why would a predator a million times her size just drop down in front of them? It made no sense. Mama Ylva had warned them about strangers and none of the stories had been very good. Maybe he was trying to trick the cubs?
She looked at her brother.
The giant smiled, rolling on his side and extending his soft paws toward the pups.
"Little fluffs want to play a game with me?" his big toothy grin was beginning to look more goofy then threatening. Even his posture and the way he moved made him seem more like a jester then any serious threat.
"I wanna play!"

Kumo let down his guard some. A game? He was either really sadistic or really child like. For such a young pup though the choice was obvious , child like.
"Sure, I'd like to play a game," He turned to his sister and gave her the 'he seems alright' smile. Specially with that smile.

Adjoa nodded. Her brother was right. He seemed okay as far as she was concerned.
"I like games too," he seemed like an awfully strange lion, but if Kumo said it was okay... "Just so long as mama doesn't hear us!"
If the older hyena found them it would all be over in a heart beat.
Steken glanced back and forth between them.
"Really? You'll really play with me?" he sprang to his feet, bouncing in place. "What game? Little fluffs what game?"
It didn't even occur to him that he could choose the game they'd play.
"A game you're good at! But NOOOOO CHEATING!"

Kumo frowned and wrinkled his nose some. This stranger was being awfully loud. If he continued this way it was likely that he'd attract Ylvas attention.
"Quiet you!" He hissed looking rather serious. Kumo did want to play but he also wanted to explore. This stranger could ruin that in a heart beat with the way he was acting. His teeth were clenched together in anger.
"We'll play explorer," Kumo relaxed some and looked over his shoulder. Ylva seemed to have her paws full tending to the other pups. What ever disagreement had happened between the siblings seemed to be severe.
"That alright with you Adjoa?"

She glanced back in the direction of the den. Exploring seemed a bit more dangrous then just playing. They could get lost!
"I don't know," she whimpered. "Can we play something where we don't have to go so far away?"
Steken thought the idea of playing explorer was great. But when the second cub hesitated he sat down, confused.
"Well? What do little fluffs what to play? Explorer is good," he paused a moment, "but you should tell me how to play explorer."
Yeah, that was a good idea. He wasn't all sure how the game was supposed to be played and if he didn't know how was he supposed to play fair!?

Kumo smiled and puffed his chest out some , "Well, first you dont have to go far. We can just stay here and pretend we are some where great. If we want we can be under water, " He smiled, "And we don't have to get wet. Or we can pretend to be lio-......." The hyena looked up at the blue lion in front of him , "Leopards... or anything really."
The hyena bounced back on to all fours, "I'll be in charge of this expedition. So you guys have to follow me."
It was evident that Kumo was a tad bossy.

She shifted her weight back and forth uncomfortably. It took her a while to come to a conclusion.
"Okay," she muttered. "Just so long as you don't go running off anywhere weird. If you do I'm going to run and tell mommy!" she was serious. She wasn't afraid of being a tattle tale if it meant keeping her brother out of trouble.
Steken was far easier to please.
"Lets all be lions! Underwater!" he bounced in place. "White fluff is the biggest lion I've ever seen!" Somehow he managed to sound perfectly serious and bewildered all at once. Not a common sight coming from a lion his age.
