In light that no one is talking I have decided to make this thread. I will post a question here reguarding anything really and I would like to know people's positions on the subjects.
*note* there are no right or wrong answers I just want to know how people feel on these issues.

First Question:
How do you all feel about the fact santeria religions, voodoo, vampirism, and satanism are all considered to be under the unbrella of being pagan?
Second Question:
Is it ever alright to kill a person and if you are wiccan do you think that killing a person in self defense is wrong because of the wiccan rede?
Third Question:
Their are many different Pagan and Wiccan traditions. Many of them use different colors to represent the 4 directions and elements. What colors and elements do you associate with each direction? Also does that effect where you put your alter in your circle?

I mean, Pagan means someone not Catholic, which are people who do voodoo, vampirism, and satanism. Though, Satanism believes in only one person, Satan as a man who is just as human as us and aren't evil people. I mean, it doesn't bother me that much, till they assume its all evil and NOTHING is evil till someone does something bad with it.

I mean, it doesn't bother me that much, till they assume its all evil and NOTHING is evil till someone does something bad with it. Actually, Pagan = multiple gods. If Pagan = Not Catholic, then Jews would be Pagan sweatdrop Anyway, by the general translation of Pagan, Satanism is not Pagan, and Voodoo or vampirism aren't even religions, they're classified as a practice, there are no gods involved in most forms of voodoo that I understand. If I evet get accused of Satanism by someone, I tell them politely that Satan was not a god, and as a courtesy to true Satanics: he's not evil to begin with, or their God wouldn't allow him to touch Earth at all. 3nodding I've seen Satanic scriptures, they worship him as a symbol of anarchy and anti-leadership. "God isn't always right, think for yourself"

I don't mind to much. Who realy has the right to say that the stuff is crap? If thats what they believe, then thats what they believe. And besides its normaly people who are not pagans or Wiccan that stick vampirism in that catagory (in my opinion though I may and probally am, wrong sweatdrop ) So it doesn't realy bug me, now its when people say things like being Wicca means you worship the devil or that the pentacle is the devils/evil symbol that bugs me. (Had something like that happen with one of her friends.)

It really dosent bug me. People can beleve what they want and sense paganism is any religion other than Ahbrimic religions (christianity, jewdaism, islam), budism, hinduism, and aithism I see no problem iwth it the only time i get annouyed is when people find out I am pagan and ask if I whorship the devil.

It's like... being a from a certain country. Take the US for example. There are alot of different kinds of people in the United States, but they all fall under the umbrella term of "American (or US citizen, since there are two Americas, technically, and...)". Doesn't mean were at all alike in any other way. We all share one thing in common- we're from the United States. Pagans all share one thing in common- they aren't Christian. Doesn't mean nothin' but that.

Really, it makes me angry, but its also to be expected. There are so many misconceptions, and its not helped by many other religeons, like christianity (not all churches, but many) and the media. There are so many untruths printed in newspapers and said on the air that it is really no wonder. Even though there are books, they're no good if people dont want to hear the truth. Also, it is important to note that wicca (since people think paganism and wicca are the same exact thing) is still a new religeon, crated in the 1950's and is still considered a cult, and there are also misconceptions of the word cult, wich means "new religeon" not "fanatic religeon" or "devil worshipping religeon" Besides the fact that the really "wierd" (fluffbunny) people are most noticable and give th religeon, for lack of a better term "bad press"

Not to nitpick, but i thought pagan meant a religeon based on nature (heh?) Could be wrong, but that was the definition I learned it as. Also, I beleive the term "polythiestic" means, literealy, "many gods" But I think your close, because I havn;t heard of many polythiestic religeons that werent classified under pagan (unless you count greek/roman??? Don't know enought about this one to be sure)
Edit: Wait!!! Hinduism!! Many gods, not pagan!!! I knew there was one...

- This is a hard question. My first impluse is to say that it's never alright to kill but then doubts slowly trickle in in the form of current day arguments. What about crminals who have done something truely bad? Like raping a child? Then wouldn't anyone say that the deserve death or worse? Alot of people see jail as a good alterintive to the way they live normaly. Free food sanitary living space ect. But it pains me to say this because life itself is beautiful and precious. This is coming from the girl who wont alow people to squish bugs in front of her and would rather catch a hornet in her own hands and place it outside than kill it, but Honestly I would have to say I don't know. People can be truely bad. I don't care what anyone else says about deep kindness. Anyone who can rape and kill a child or other crimes equaly as bad is not a good person however deep down you go. But is killing them really the answer? I don't know.

i don't think it's ever good to maliciously kill someone, but in some cases, a person's death is neccessary. remember Terry Pratchett? that woman lived in limbo for so many years. it was unfair to keep her alive. there are many people who live in limbo like that, and it's unfair to make them live through that pain, with little to no hope of coming back. but it's considered murder to put those poor souls out of their misery. i think it's justified, then.
i don't think that people who commit heinous crimes, like rape, should be put to death. they deserve to endure the pain and mental anguish they'll recieve by being alive. people who rape others are the epitome of cruelty, and do not deserve to allowed into the next life.
killing in defense of yourself is justifiable. if you accidentally kill someone who was attacking, or trying to kill you, or especially someone you love, then it's justifiable. Wicca says to harm none, but it (I think) refers to harming people maliciously, just to hurt them. i don't think the Wiccan rede would go against someone who kills in defense of their loved ones. possessions are always less valuable than people, so killing to defend items is not forgiveable, in my mind, even if it is irreplaceable, that's not acceptable.
