Me and my english teacher have already gotten off on the wrong foot. (maybe because she takes her shoes off in class) but anyway... I go to a public school, and we were assigned to write a book REVIEW... and so i did it on the series i was reading LEFT BEHIND. (have you read it its really good) and me and her were argueing today because one of her comments about the review was that not a christians believe in the rapture. because in my review, i said it was the truth and didnt fictionalize it at all because it is true and i dont want to say its not and waver my faith in any way. So now im on a mission to find out whose right. do you believe in a LITERAL rapture?

The Rapture is probably the most discussed end-time event, I suggest you look up as much information as you can, but I'll explain some of it:

Pre-Trib Rapture View
- We Christians vanish before the 7 Year Tribulation period mentioned in Revelation
Mid-Trib Rapture View
- We Christians vanish 3.5 years into the 7 Year Tribulation period mentioned in Revelation
Post-Trib Rapture View
- We Christians are taken up after the 7 Year Tribulation period mentioned in Revelation

Anyways, I really recommend you look up as much information as possible. Also, there are many who say there will be a Rapture and those who say that there won't be one. As for me, I believe in the Pre-Trib Rapture view, but that's just me, but I also believe that us Christians in the West can still be persecuted before the Rapture happens. I hope this helps

I personally believe in the Post-Trib Rapture. I believe that all true Christians believe that the rapture is going to happen at one time or another. I think that very few true Christians, if any, believe that there will be no rapture but that God will just take the sinful people out of the world and then He will reign 1,000 years. At least I don't know anyone who believes that personally.

Frexy I am reading the Left Behind series right now and absolutely adore them!

Personally I believe in the Pre-Tribulation. Though when I think about it I feel really bad for those that will be left behind because some of them won't have clue for a very long time why we are gone. God is going to do it because he wants them to believe in Him, and become a part of Him.

I guess this is a motivational thing huh? Not wanting friends, family, and strangers to have to go through such an ordeal. Ok, I'm rambling, time to go. 4laugh sweatdrop xd

I, too, have read the Left Behind series, and loved them (although I haven't been able to get my hands on the two most recent books). Let me just remind you, though, that these books are still fiction. The rapture is actually a rather recent theological belief developed in the 1950's-1960's (I'm not sure exactly), and the great "Jesus Movement" followed. Try to find the word rapture in the Bible. It doesn't exist in the Bible at all. However, the CONCEPTS of the rapture are found in the Bible. 1 Thess. 4:16-17, and Revelation 4:1 to name a couple support the belief. Many use 1 Thess. to refer to the "Glorious Appearing" at the end of the 7 year tribulation. Personally, I'm a pre-tribulationist. But that doesn't mean I'm right. My uncle doesn't believe in the rapture at all, because of the fact that it is a rather recent concept and pulled out of interpretation of the scriptures, as opposed to being plainly revealed.

Actually, the pre-trib rapture view was forged in the 19th century, if I'm not mistaken, from a mystic woman that said she had received a vision from God. Yes, most Christians in our days believe in a pre-tribulational rapture. I'm one of the fews who don't, and through a Reformed Eschatology classes taken last year, I started holding what I now believe.

I used to believe in the pre-tribulational rapture, until I started further investigating about it, in sites such as:

-http://www.reformed.org/eschaton/

At any instance, calling for the pre-tribulational rapture is also saying that there are actually three comings of Christ: The first one, when He came, died and resurrected. The second comming, when He takes some of the elected before the rapture. And the third one, when He comes to judge the world. This just doesn't fit for me with what the Scriptures teach.

Yet, I respect all of you guys' points of view, although I might not share them. Greetings in Christ.

Revelations talks about all that end times stuff. Personally, I have read up to book eight of the Adult Left Behind Series, book seven killed my interest. But I was raised in a church that believed and preached the pre-tib rapture, but I'm confused because my new church doesn't talk about it like my old church did. It confuses me because I am personally torn between the pre-trib and the mid-trib rapture idles. But the Bible mentions a Seven year feast as the Tribulation is going on, so I lean more to the Pre-trib.

I personally believe in a Post-Trib rapture. We're doing a study on Revelation at my church right now, and my Youth Pastor tells us that some people believe that the first six trumpets, the first six seals, and the four horses of Revelation are in play today, and have been since the time of Moses. He tells us that God has given Satan "control with a leash," or in otherwords, temporary and limited control. But because God loves His people and His creation, He will take back that control when the seventh trumpet is blown and the seventh seal is broken.

This whole thing is really complicated, and if you want to know more details I'll gladly accept personal messages and I'll try to answer your questions.

God Bless!

There is no scriptural evidence for a rapture.
What scripture actually describes is an end; ONE end. At Christ's second coming, a loud trumpet will be blown and that will be it. The end of time, the end of earth and the dead will be raised to judgement and those found spotless will be welcomed to the kingdom and those found unworthy will be tossed out. There is no "secret" return, there is no 7 year tribulation, and there is no 1000 year reign on earth. These are all figures of speech in the book of Revelation, which is a vison and must be interpreted that way.
The Left Behind books are fiction and you can not get your theology from them. It should only come from the Bible.
We are in the end times right now. THIS is the tribulation. These are the last days.
Amen, come quickly Lord Jesus!

You may be partially right, but you need to be sure of what you believe. If you believe something contrary to scripture and someone tricks you with it, then what? Jesus said many false prphets will came and steal away the elect! THAT'S US! eek We need to be sure we are waiting for the right Jesus so I think this debate is terribley important. I believe reading theology and being sure of your salvation is just as important as feeding the homeless. The poor are just as important as the poor in spirit.
