History: Zarita was, to be blunt, an unwanted accident and has known this fact from as long as she can remember. Her mother had been a green dragon rider. Nothing spectacular and too ordinary and average. Her father had been a rider of a rather slow bronze dragon. When her mother's dragon rose for her mating flight, it was the bronze that caught her. The baby, Zarita, was the result of this. There wasn't any sort of lover between her parents or any connection really. Certainly nothing to keep them together, not even the child that they had conceived. Her father had went on his way, a man that Zarita had never even met, and her mother had left her a Weyrbrat to be raised by her grandmother.
Zarita hasn't been close to her mother at all. She used to stop by for birthdays but she rarely bothers anymore. Typically she'll just send a trinket. The girl isn't entirely even sure her mother loves her but she has learned to fend for herself and learned quickly that she can't quite trust anyone.
Her grandmother taught her how to sing when she was young and among the Harpers it was agreed that she had a nice voice. Perhaps it wasn't the best but most don't even bother trying to tell Zarita this anymore. Her grandmother fed her a few too many white lies for her own good. Since then Zarita considers herself to be a Harper Apprentice, however she has never gone to the hall and hasn't actually had any proper training.
Zarita was 14 when her Grandmother passed away. It was partially due to sickness and in part old age. If there was one person she really did love and care about it had been her and the loss for her cut deeper than she ever allowed it to show.
Once her Grandmother passed away, the young girl focused more and more on her singing and avoided as many chores as possible. With a voice like hers why should she have to get dirty? There were plenty of other brats to do the work for her. Often times she would employ some of the younger children to do her work for her or run errands. She rather enjoyed the power and eventually, placed herself up on her own little pedestal.
Appearance: Zarita stands a little short at 5'3" but don't let that fool you. She sees herself pretty and does her best to look that way. Not to mention the looks she sees the boys giving her doesn't help to improve this thought. Then again she tends to put things that she doesn't like out of her mind. Zarita has long red hair that she washes everyday. It falls down to the middle of her back. She keeps it well trimmed and brushed. No split ends of course! She also wears a purple colored headband that her mother sent her one year for her birthday. Her clothes are always clean and she wears the best that she can. Her eyes are a darker shade of blue and her lips are red. Being as vain as she is, she always looks her best, not one single hair out of place or a speck of dirt under her nails.
Personality: A few choice words to describe Zarita would be conceited, selfish, vain, and a b*tch. She is constantly worried about her looks and takes every moment she can to look at herself in the mirror. She also fancies herself one of the best singers around and will simply scoff at anyone who tells her differently. By the reaction others seem to have with her, it is relatively well known that Zarita is a mean b*tch. The Weyrbrat has placed herself up onto her own little pedestal and believes that everyone should she her as the beauty she is, afterall, her father was a bronze rider. She's entirely too selfish and would much rather keep anything she makes or find for herself as opposed to sharing. She would probably sell her own mother if she needed to, then again there really isn't any love there. Oh she'll act like your friend, until you do something to piss her off. This could simply be the way you dress, if you happen to look prettier than her, or even a noise you make.
Zarita hates chores, and she tends not to do them herself. When someone does bother her to do something, she usually either intimidates or pays another weyrbrat to do it for her. Why should she get dirty when there are plenty of others to do it for her?
If there is anything good to say about Zarita it is that when it comes to her very close friends, she is fiercely loyal. That is, if you can get it on her good side. Oh, and she won't stab you in the back, no, she'll just pay someone else to do it instead.
With a little love it could be possible to tame this conceited brat but you would have to be very persistent and on the receiving end of much verbal abuse. She also listens to those in charge but isn't ever very happy about it.
