I'm just curious, but I was curious if anyone could give me a more clear understanding as to how this virus does not spread via airborne, nor through the water, because I understand that viruses can't survive in the air for very long, so is that the same reason?

Depends on the Zombie Apocalypse, some are airborne and do exactly like you said, some are viral (viruses and stuff), and there are a few more but I forgot them now. confused

the most popular way of spreading is through bites, like the rabies virus

actully it's not just bites, that most comon but in everything it's spread through bodily fluids so a bite gets infected saliva in an open wound caused by their teeth. ut if they blood gets on a cut you have , lets just say" on your leg, your infected all the same.

But hey? What about the animals? Like in RE, the crows and the dogs? Could it be possible for them to spread it too?

Basically anyway you can imagine that is realistic when it comes to spreading some sort of illness and virus is possible.

Lestat_616 But hey? What about the animals? Like in RE, the crows and the dogs? Could it be possible for them to spread it too? It could. There's different types of viruses and such... For example, the AIDS/HIV viruses only affect humans. So it could be something along those lines, or it could be a virus that could me in animals too. Resident Evil seems like that sort of infection wouldn't be spread easily to animals though... Because it was only the animals that were directly exposed that turned into the zombified and stronger state, right? I don't think the whole world's animal population was infected or anything. :<

So it would be possible for the entire world to be infected...

BUT! Animals can get some of the same infections as humans, just a different strain. I have read the book and I adore it, and I'm baseing this off an independent study of mine.

Ok, so bottom line, infection can only spread via bodily fluids (i.e. biting, spitting, blood, etc.) so that rules out scratching as well, right? Because I know there's a small amount of DNA under the fingernail (if memory serves me right), or maybe not, it has been a while since I've reread The Zombie Survival Handguide. Also, I'm sorry if I'm annoying anyone with my questions, I only wish to be more prepared in case the Zombie Apocolypse should happen.

BEEP. Nope. You can also get infected it you eat a part of the zombie when you have an open mouth sore, or when you get splattered with zombie guts and fluids. Note: it is possible for insects like Misguitoes and Ticks to transfer blood from one being to another.

Yup. Same with STD. Misguitoes can carry malaria, and they cary the infection.
