Rick was a small time police officer before joining the BSAA as a sort of Jack of all trades. He was assigned team to team as needed so he never got to know any one closely. Rick had been all around the world with different teams. His last assignment took him to China like every other BSAA agent. On an assignment Rick was ambushed by a Licker. The Licker put it's tung through Rick's chest. Rick's team saved him but Rick had lost a lot of blood and fell into a coma. He woke up three months later in a chinese hospital alone. Soon to find him almost over run by zombies, he escaped and made his way to the UK were he built a settlement for survivors but thats another story for another time...
