I hate overtime in the NFL. Anyone with me? Like what is soooo bad about leaving games in a tie? If at the end of the game the teams have scored the same amount of points...then they scored the same amount of points. What is so bad about that? Because it totally jips the team that doesn't get the ball right away and the loser who matched everything up in regulation time suddenly has a loss that is hard to swallow. So what are your thoughts?

You play to win the game. The current overtime rule in the NFL is fine. Offense can win it, defense can win it, and special teams can win it.

Dude-LAP You play to win the game. The current overtime rule in the NFL is fine. Offense can win it, defense can win it, and special teams can win it. Not exactly. You have to have the best defence and offence if you dont get to start off with the ball. Or at least both have to be better than the opposing team in the overtime. You could have an allstar offence and lose the game because you didn't get the chance to get the ball on offence. Or your defence could totally suck and that isn't even an issue because you got the ball. If you don't allow the team to play then you don't allow the team to play and that in itself is our argument. Although I don't know why its such a big deal to allow it stay as a damn tie. If you tie after a whole football game shouldn't the record show that?

Each team has a 50% chance of getting the ball first. Also, it's the fault of the franchise if they fully want to invest their talent of either offense or defense. A good team knows that they need to be solid on both sides of the ball to achieve success. Not to mention, special teams can also win the game.

GreenTigerr I hate the current overtime system as well. They should just play the full quarter But then what would happen if the teams are tied after that overtime quarter? And what if it happens in the next one? And the next one? Players would get tired and injured, and fans would get uninterested. It's fine the way it is. Sudden death, with a tie if no points are scored...

they should run the time down and if it is still overtime, then apply the current overtime rule >_> or at least give it an extra 6 minutes.

Axel_ron they should run the time down and if it is still overtime, then apply the current overtime rule >_> or at least give it an extra 6 minutes. Why a 21 minute overtime period? It's already equivalent to the 15 minutes of time in the other four quarters of regulation. It's fine.

Devil-Dog-Unit The college football overtime is the best LOL, that's a p***y overtime. Not exciting. No tension. And you don't have a chance to win on every play, like in the NFL.
