Mine, the bridge strap is tangled. It's pulling too hard.
Hold on for just a.... Strong hands finished tightening and securing the Toe straps to the chest and neck straps before moving on to relieve the dragon of his discomfort. As it was fixed, the large Blue shifted a little to allow His easier reach.

If you just lay down, then I could do this a lot faster. Black eyes gave his lifepartner a "glare" before tightening the last bit of leather. The only response from the dragon was a disgruntled growl, that which made G'ind sigh and shake his head slowly. Varoth AB-SO-LUTE-LY HATED wearing the riding straps; despite how important they were during Thread Flight, that never stopped the Blue from complaining before they took to the air and after they landed. It was only when they were in the skies is when the complaints stopped. As he stepped away to slip into his thick Riding leathers, Varoth stood up and shook himself out.

Mine? Where are we being sent? Varoth stared at His as the youth walked over to his side. Grabbing the leather, he pulled himself up onto the back of the beast with a loud grunt of effort.

We are to practice flying manuvers we would normally pull off if Thread was falling. I attached some bags with stones so I can practice pulling them out while your flying around, shaking me like a wet piece of skin.

A rumbling laugh as he moved towards the edge of the weyr the two shared. The discomfort from before was starting to fade from memory as the thrill of the flight took over, bringing out the more easy-going Varoth that G'ind was bonded to.

HEY NOW! Don't laugh, Varoth! Its not funny! G'ind felt a flush of heat prickle up his neck in response to his embarassment. This joined the adrenaline that started to flow as he stared over his partner's shoulder at the long drop below.

Kaya quickly slipped the Riding belt on. She then began started to climb up on Rumath and was stopped by the large dragon.

Mine, please check the straps again.

She sighed but did as he asked. The girl knew he was simply worried about her safety and she smiled at the thought. Sometimes she thought he was a little too worried but she knew how important they were to each other. Honestly she didn't think she could ever care about anyone even half as much as she loved Rumath. In response to her thoughts the blue dragon gently brought his great head to her torso and nudged her affectionately.

Alright. I think I've checked these about a hundred times now. Can we please start? She pleaded with him.

Rumath let out a little chuckle at her words. He loved his rider dearly and he would immediately go between if he were to lose her. He had made her recheck one last time before she climbed up and secured the safety strap. He knew she thought he worried too much but he couldn't lose her. Never. Especially over something so trivial as a a broken strap. If she were to fall from these heights, well, he wasn't sure he would be able to catch her in time. His great body shuddered at the thought and he immediately turned his attention back to the task at hand.

Finally. Kaya was as safe as she was going to get. She had grumbled when Rumath made her check the equipment again but at least they were get some practice in before next year. Okay so she was exaggerating but it had felt like it took forever. With a push and wings working the air, Rumath flew into the sky.

Varoth did not simply flap his wings and take off, as most other dragons did; he jumped. And jump he did, head first with his wings almost clamped entirely to his sides as G'ind held on for dear life with a grip that could break wood.

Just as the dragon was about to seemingly hit the ground below, broad wings snapped open and flapped several times, taking to skies with a delighted trumpet. Wings grabbed at the air to pull them higher than the Weyr walls, higher than the clouds; in the rush, Varoth wanted to touch the sun itself. After what seemed like an eternity to the Rider, the two finally leveled out and G'ind found themselves skimming the tops of the mountains near the Weyr.

Keep his grip on the reins, the youth leaned over the side of the dragon and watched their shadow below for a moment before tugging on the leather straps, signalling Varoth to turn back around. He did just that, and as they moved, G'ind saw another Blue take to the skies from the Weyr.

Varoth? Who is that? Can you tell? Human were not built for seeing well with the high winds, even with something to keep the wind from blowing in their faces.

I believe that is one of the female riders who had joined us at the Springs a sevenday or a few ago. Arching his wings a little, he made way towards the other pair to greet them. Something that His was not opposed to as well, but at the same time, he was. He wasn't sure if they were willing to join them, or even if they were out doing the same thing the two of them were doing now.

Lets approach, but let's be weary as well.

Agreed, Mine.

Rumath enjoyed the wind rushing past him as he made a dive towards the ground and pulled back up just in time. Kaya, as usual, was simply holding on for dear life. She knew Rumath would never really do anything to endanger her, she was simply just scared. Flying was still new for her. She had gotten over much since she had impressed with Rumath but there were some aspects that still bothered her. Such as times like these when he decided to test her. The girl felt proud of herself though. This time she didn't even close her eyes. The ground that rushed towards her ominously was soon gone and they were once again flying harmlessly about the Weyr.

Kaya let out a deep breath and surveyed her surroundings. The view from u here was always magnificent and she enjoyed watching everyone moving about the Weyr. Today, however she had very little time to observe.

Mine! Someone approaches.

The girl turned quickly to see another blue dragon and rider make their way toward them. As they flew closer she could see the rider was male and the dragon looked familiar.

It is Varoth. The dragon wasn't sure what the others wanted but they didn't seem hostile. Nor had Varoth or his rider been hostile to them at the springs. Although the pair didn't seem to be a threat, Rumath's eyes flashed yellow for a moment and then went back to their calm green.

Tentatively he called out to the other dragon. Greetings! Then to Kaya, I do not think they mean harm but keep an eye out Mine. We will leave if trouble arises.

Kaya nodded in agreement with Rumath. She didn't enjoy running away, but any sort of confrontation in the sky could mean more trouble and danger than it was worth.

Off in the distance, another duo came into sight- a little green and her rider flying smoothly over the landscape. Their flight was a bit more coordinated and steady; but this was only because T'ren had years of experience under his belt (and leathers). Chaveth trumpeted happily as she arched upwards at a very fast pace.

Careful! Too fast and you'll tire quicker than you have to, he thought. They weren't practicing at the moment- though T'ren always strapped bags to the leathers, as habit and just in case. They were simply out for a ride instead. Chaveth loved to fly and always asked if she could, duties or no.

Don't worry Mine! Your Chaveth has plenty of stamina to spare!

If he hadn't been getting blasted in the face by wind, he would have sighed. He tried to aim a mental one her way instead. The Green was a good listener, and he did trust her, but he felt his warning was justified. Chaveth felt her rider's annoyance and tried to temper it by swooping through the air.

That's when she saw the two blues, far off in the distance. She crooned and began to fly their way. Mine! There are other riders!
Are there? he tried to squint to see, and caught sight of the color, Might as well go greet 'em!

The only response was another croon and the beat of Chaveth's wings as she darted forward towards the two.

As the two approached, Varoth returned the "whispered" greeting with a friendly bugle as G'ind waved from the dragons' back, other hand still maintaining a death-grip on the reins. Like Rumoth and Kaya, the being would never go as far as to let his Chosen fall to the sharp rocks below due to carelessness.

The thought sent a shiver down his spine, it soon fading as G'ind gently patted his neck.

Varoth, send both my greetings. The winds up here make it difficult to shout. He stopped and pondered for a moment before adding a little more. Also, could you ask her if she and Rumoth would be interested in joining us? We could practice more complicated manuvers if there's more than one Rider flying.

Varoth relayed the message to his Brother dragon before spying something out of the corner of his eye. Another pair had risen from the Weyr walls, but they were too far off to see whom it might be...

Mine, mine....Someone approaches! From the Weyr!

At this, G'ind groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. Hopefully it wasn't one of the Wing Leaders. It wasn't in the mood to deal with those in authority right now.

Rumath listened closely to what Varoth was telling him. He could definitely see the advantage in having another to practice with and was about to tell the other dragon this when he noticed their attention change. Quickly Rumath and Kaya turned at once to watch in the direction the others were.

Who is it? Kaya asked the dragon. She wasn't sure is she should be worried or not but she knew that as long as she was with Rumath he would keep her safe. She could always rely on him.

I don't know yet. They are still too far off. Girl and dragon sat in silence for a few moments as they waited for the dragon and rider to come closer. The wind was rather chilly up here but luckily Kaya had worn warm clothing. However, the cold still bothered her now that she wasn't distracted. Usually as long as she and Rumath were moving the cold didn't seem to bother her. But now, sitting here waiting for the other dragon to come closer, she felt the cool bite of the wind.

Luckily T'ren was anything but a Wingleader. Or a leader of any sort, really. Chaveth streaked through the air quick like only a Green could, and trumpeted a cautious 'hello' to let the others know she meant no harm.

Blue riders. Mine, look! Do you know them?

T'ren was too busy trying to keep his face from freezing off. I might if I could see, he thought, annoyed by Chaveth's excitement in the face of subzero wind. He was used to riding in the cold, but her speed made it seem more sharp and frosty than it had to be.

Eventually the duo rode close enough to rush by. T'ren swooped over them in a fancy arc, trying to get close enough to talk and stay aloft at the same time.
Don't be rude, T'renmine. Say hello.

Hello.

Mine says hello, and so do I! Chaveth spoke to the other dragons.

Varoth rumbled softly at the cheerful greeting, admiring the way Chaveth danced through the air around the himself and Rumoth. Indeed, the antics of a Green Dragon were something to be admired at times.

Perhaps you should return her greetings, instead of gaping like a new candidate to be at a Search Dragon? G'ind let a teasing grin slip onto his face as His let out a sharp snort, as if he would such a thing. But still, his Chosen spoke the truth.

Greetings to you and your Chosen, sister. Broad wings kept himself afloat against the heavy winds around them. G'ind nestled down a little more in the thick riding leathers he wore as Varoth spoke. This was getting crazy...If they didn't move, they would freeze. He could feel the cold air slipping in through the stitchings. Mine says its a pleasure to meet you both.

Kaya let out a little sigh of relief. It wasn't anyone unfriendly or anyone that would send her to do chores or order her around. She hadn't really wanted to deal with any authority figures today. She also wasn't sure what this other male would think of her for riding a blue, but he was on a green and perhaps wouldn't be so quick to judge like everyone else was.

The wind was a little loud as it beat at her and it made it difficult to talk. Instead she asked Rumath if he could talk to the others for her. Even if she did shout she would probably go hoarse before they were more than a couple sentences through any sort of conversation.

Mine and I welcome you both also. Spoke the blue dragon. He chuckled a little at his rider's thoughts. He knew she was cold and wanted to get moving again soon before she froze to death but really it wasn't that bad and they both knew it. Really it was a warm summer's day compared to going between. The dragon debated on going there for a moment just to warm her up when they got back.

You better not.
Kaya snapped causing the dragon to chuckle even more.

They both seemed like friendly folk, and Chaveth was all a-flutter with her new acquaintances. T'ren squinted curiously at them from behind his goggles. A guy on a Brown, and a girl on a Blue? Both younger, it looked like. He wondered how long they had been riders- he probably attended their Impression, though he didn't know if they were in his wing or not.

Lucky the colors en't switched around, else that girl wouldn't be riding here- he began, but Chaveth cut him off with mental tongue-clucks. Theirs were Theirs, and it wasn't as if it was something negotiable. T'ren snorted and glanced back out at the horizon. He wasn't as misogynistic as some at the Weyr, but he did think Kaya's Blue a shame. It could've gone to some hopeful, strapping lad instead.
You are so rude to them, Mine. I will talk for you.

His lips pursed. But-

I am Chaveth, and this is T'renmine. We thank you for the welcome! she crooned, dropping down to fly beside both of the riders instead.

He seemed like a nice person, but...G'ind let a hint of doubt touch his thoughts; what if he was one of the many rider that disapproved of females riding anything but green and gold? It would most certainly-

Mine, you worry far too much. Varoth let his own, calming thoughts push away those his rider let surface. I would doubt Chaveth would let him say anything against Kaya. As the female dragon had stated to her rider: Their's was their's and nothing could be done to change it. He then let himself take over the conversation, directing his thoughts towards the Green, but letting Rumath "hear" as well.

Its our pleasure, Chaveth. He rumbled, shifting his shoulders to shake G'ind as he mumbled something along the lines of "big, fat flirt", forcing the lad to grab hold with both hands on the riding reins. He then glanced over at Rumath and Kaya. What are your thoughts on this idea, Brother? Maybe we should let Chaveth and her Rider join us in our exercises? Or would it be one too many?

Kaya sighed as she thought she saw that look on T'renmine's face. Or was she just being paranoid? Maybe that was it. Besides, as long as he didn't bother her that wasn't any point in bringing it up. What are they saying dear? She asked Rumath. It was rather irritating when the dragons talked amongst themselves. She knew Rumath would tell her everything eventually, but she didn't like eventually, she liked now and she didn't like waiting.

The dragon chuckled in response to her thoughts. Mine, you are so impatient. We're all just introducing ourselves.

Kaya rolled her eyes and sent the thought along to the dragon. I already knew that. You did tell me their names already. What else is going on?

Rumath chuckled again. They want to know if we should let T'renmine join in our flight exercises. He told his rider.

Kaya sighed a little. So much for just the two of them. Well, perhaps it would be better to hang out with the boys. Maybe people would stop judging her so damn much. They might see that she was just as good as them and deserved Rumath more than any of them. He had picked her after all, not them. The sound of Rumath chuckling once more interrupted her thoughts. I'm so glad I'm always entertaining you. She snapped back at him. She was cold and wanted to get a move on. Let them know we can all practice together. We can't be rude now can we?

Rumath quickly relayed Kaya's reply to the other dragons. We have no objections. Besides, Kaya could do with a little socialization. He felt his rider's anger in response to his words but simply ignored her. It was for the better after all.

The Brown was rather dashing, Chaveth thought, though she didn't share this right away. She'd definitely tell him later, when she wasn't focused on being aloft. Mine, I think they are going to let us join them, she prodded T'ren gently through their link. Chaveth couldn't read minds, but she thought she understood by the way the other dragons were looking at each other. They were talking about something.

Join them for what? T'ren cut in, confused. They weren't out for a ride? Sensing his confusion, the Green crooned softly against the wind, comfortingly.

They're young, she pointed out. Her rider nodded. Riiight... young ones like them couldn't have had their dragons long. They looked full grown though, so perhaps it was just an exercise.

Guess I don't mind. Think we should show off?

No, Chaveth thought immediately, and then turned to the Brown and the Blue to speak with them. Is it all right to join in?

Kaya wasn't exactly happy with what Rumath had said to the other dragons but he was right as always. The blue insisted that she acted too tough but they both knew why and that it was necessary. However, if these two weren't going to harass her about her sex than having one more join couldn't hurt could it? She definitely hoped not.

Don't worry Kayamine. You know I wouldn't allow anyone to hurt you. If things get out of hand we can always leave. The dragon was maintaining his position in the air rather easily but he wanted to get a move on. He knew Kaya had other things to do. Not to mention he could always use a little extra attention.

Kaya grinned at the dragons thoughts. Aren't you already an attention hog?

Hog!? I think not. I am most definitely a dragon. Not a swine.
The dragon acted offended.

The girl giggled again and then straightened up. She couldn't see weak in front of anyone else. Telgar Weyr was tough enough for a girl like her without them knowing she was actually human. As if they cared.

Turning his attention back to the other riders Rumath spoke to their dragons. Of course. Company is always welcome. Where should we start first?
