Janga speaks in this colour.
Jounoth doesn't speak often, but when he does it's like this.

Hey yo first things first
It's time to shake ground in the eighth round
Bax better & break down
From the beat & the wild tone, jump in the cyclone

User ImageName: Janga
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Unknown
Rank: Sr. Weyrling

Appearance: Being both large and big-boned, she appears to tower over those she stands near just by the sheer size of her shadow. Size aside, she’s not even particularly pretty. Calling her plain might be stretching the term a little past its limits. She’s got a round face with dark, squinty eyes and a rather flat nose. Her skin has never been great, frequently calloused and marked up from work and getting into scuffles with fellow Weyrbrats. She is not very careful with her body, and it shows by the number of small scars she has scattered across her skin. Her lip seems to curl naturally, giving her a near constant sneer. Even without this, she tends to look extremely unpleasant no matter what the situation. Her dull brown hair is hacked off so it barely touches her shoulders, and she frequently ties it back in a short ponytail to keep it out of her face. Clothing wise, Janga dresses like the average Weyrbrat: nothing fancy but her clothes are well mate. It's debatable whether or not she owns a Gather dress, but it's doubtful she would actually wear it even if she did.

Personality: Janga is.... well, let's just say Janga knows exactly where her place is in the Weyr, and it's definitely on top. She may not come from any notable lineage like some but that doesn't mean she's going to settle for drudge work. If that means she has to step on a few people, then why not? Though Weyr rules prevent her from becoming a true physical bully, she's definitely not above testing the limits. She's quick to push and shove her way through things, using her size to help her intimidate people. You're first in line to get dinner tonight? Nope, I don't think so. You want to sneak a peek at the eggs? You gotta pay the toll if she catches you "trespassing." She'd even steal your lunch money, if Pern had the equivalent. And she kicks puppies. Yeah, that's right. Puppies. While she constantly seems to walk the careful line of rule bending, she's extremely quick point out when other people are breaking the rules. Hall monitor of the Weyr, so to speak, she patrols with a diligence that would rival a tunnelsnake hunting for flit eggs. There is nothing more pleasing than catching people in the act and making them either fess up or pay up.

Very few Weyrbrats are safe from her, though the majority have known her long enough to either get out of her way or distract her. She tends to pick on Candidates with more fervour than Weyrbrats, frequently pushing them around whenever she's sure she can get away with it. Whenever she's not physically roughing them up, she resorts to verbal taunts. Janga will be the first to spread rumours that weak or ill fit candidates will be sent home, or that those under a certain size range will be kicked out before they even see a dragon. She considers it her duty to weed out the weakest links for the sake of the Weyr, and doesn't seem particularly remorseful even if she makes other Candidates cry. As one can imagine she has few friends, but she is willing to accept "cronies" who help with her dirty work. Working with Janga is difficult, but not impossible, and she tends to treat those who have her favour a little nicer than those at the bottom of her social totem pole.

Her good qualities are few and far between, and even then they're only good in comparison to the rest of her. She's determined almost to fault, and will always follow through with what she says no matter what kinds of odds are stacked against her. Her word is her law, end of story. Janga is also capable of a tough sort of love to those who she considers her real "friends." She may only have one or two, but she would protect those people with her life. True, she may rough them up a little bit, but nobody else is allowed to lay a finger on them unless they want all their belongings dumped in Faseth's Lake.

Pets: None
Other: Hates most animals

History

Pre-Impression
Daughter of a Lower Cavern's worker, she was happily shipped off to live with the Weyrbrats so her mother could go on flirting with her next catch of the week. Understandably, Janga's mother didn't want anything to do with her, and so Janga kindly returned the favour. As a child she grew up living the normal Weyr life, working as soon as she was old enough. Unlike the majority of her age mates, however, she frequently had to stay behind after the Harper lessons to learn her reading and writing, which didn't improve much even over time. The segregation from her classmates and the teasing as a result of her being "the stupid one" did the usual to a girl's self esteem. Janga's size, however, soon became her only advantage, and she was quick to catch on to the fact that she could use it to intimidate people. Anyone who dared call her names or try to push her around quickly decided it was safer to wave a red flag in front of a bull. At the age of twelve she had firmly cemented her status as Weyr Bully and is currently not in any hurry to change that.

Post Impression
The ISOLATION ROOM OF DEATH or something like that

Half a Turn Mark
While it would be true to say that the blue is better, one still has to remember that this is Jounoth you're dealing with. To say that he's "better" is equivalent to saying that getting shot is "better" than drowning. His improvements only go so far.

He no longer wears leg restraints, though this is mostly because it's too expensive to keep making them as he grows larger. Instead, he wears a metal 'muzzle', which fits snuggly around his snout and can be tightened and loosened as his rider sees fit. The only time it is loose enough for him to open his mouth is during feeding time. All dragons are advised to avoid the feeding pens when Jounoth is eating, especially the younger dragons, as his unpredictability makes it hard to know what he will do if he feels threatened. So far, only one or two greens have been able to eat with him, provided that they stay away from his rider. (Open to IC-volunteers if anyone wants <3)

During lessons, he and Janga tend to remain near D'astel at all times, with Jounoth's body always between his rider and everyone else. He rarely speaks to anyone, even the friendliest of his clutch, but at least he has stopped snarling at everyone who goes by. Anyone who approaches Janga, however, will find themselves meeting a very aggressive guard dog. Though he cannot harm any humans, that does not stop him from trying to make himself as big and as threatening as possible.

He appears to be minutely more tolerant of the greens of his clutch, though they might just always catch him on a good day. Jounoth has a hard time separating rider and dragon pairs, and will often attribute the actions of one half to the group itself. For example, he thinks that UuniMakereth needs to stop pranking him and His or he will leave guts on your bed.

The pair still lives in the isolation rooms.

Janga has appointed herself class representative, in the worst way possible. Late for lessons? Guess who's going to be counting while you do your push-ups. Rumour has it you snuck out of the barracks last night? Guess who told D'astel. She may not be the gold rider of the group but she has no problems asserting her authority. As far as she's concerned, she was given this position by D'astel, even though it was only a way to try and keep Jounoth from harming the other dragons. It was her job to weed out the weakest links among the candidates (even though it was self-appointed) and she sees no reason to stop that kind of behaviour now.

She has certainly not made the effort to be friendly to any of her fellow riders, but she seems to favour (or at the very least, be more tolerant on) those who are hard-working.

They say, they don't trust
You, me, we, us
So we'll fall if we must
Cause it's you, me
And it's all about, it's all about
It's all about us

Name: Jounoth
Color: Blue
Font Color: Prettyblue
Physical Description: Definitely not the nicest dragon to look at, Jounoth is both small and compact, to say it nicely. His physical structure is best described as solid, giving him the stamina of a blue but virtually none of the maneuverability that his smaller size should have awarded him. No matter what the situation, his eyes are almost always tinted with red or yellow, a sure fire sign to anyone that he does not want to be handled by anyone other than his rider.

Personality: In a clutch of selfless heroes, loyal followers, strong leaders and lots and lots of character, there is perhaps no dragon whose behavior is more baffling than that of Jounoth. From the second he hatched, he's acted as though he wants no one near him. Don't touch him. Don't look at him. Don't even think about him. But the second everyone is gone, what does he do? SCREAM! He wants to be left alone, but he doesn't want to be alone. Not everyone understands the difference, but he does. Stay by him, just don't pay him any attention while you do.

Jounoth is not stupid, but he is very instinct-driven. If you wanted to launch a personal attack, you could say he's a wher in a dragon's body. His speech is not of the Me Tarzan, You Jane variety, but his sentences are always very brief, demanding and right to the point of what ever it is he wants to say. "Feed me!" is a good example of what his rider can expect to hear. Docile moments do happen, but it takes a lot of hard work to get there. He must be fed, oiled, tired and in his riders company. If His dares get out of Jounoth's sight at any given time, he will panic and wail so loudly the entire Weyrling barracks will find themselves hard of hearing. Some speculate he might even go between. Hello, Weyrlinghood. So long social life.

They say that the dragon chooses the rider. That is up for debate in this case. For the people that witnessed this blue's Impression know old sayings will not suffice to explain what exactly happened. The unusual circumstances haven't kept Jounoth from maintaining a traditional bond with his rider. If anything, he loves His too much. If anyone invades their personal space, he throws a fit; he may even attack if they're a dragon. Everyone knows the odds of him calming down aren't too likely, and so his rider will have to prepare themselves for some disappointment. They'll never make it to a wing, nor can they be a searchrider. They will be the keeper of the beast that is Blue Jounoth and nothing more.

In the future, there may be even more problems. Jounoth will chase any green who rises and become out of control. If another male gets in his way, look out. He might be small, but he's also vicious.

Other: Though he would never actually bite another human, Jounoth will resort to physical shoving if his vocal threats do not hit home.

Quote:
Brown Swirl Egg
At the bottom of the clutch is the Brown Swirl Egg. The name, obviously, is due to the dark brown base and the lighter brown swirl that decorates the egg's shell. Many have accused it of being the most ugly egg in the clutch, and indeed, no light appears to flatter this poor thing! As if that wasn't enough, there's an aura of fear and submission hovering around it. The egg has fallen and rolled to the side as though it wants to run away. Could it be afraid of one of it's clutchmates? The egg is probably a green or a blue.

Dragonriders of Pern Shop
The Brown Swirl Egg hatched like no other dragon in the clutch before it. Not even the loud mouthed Deprith, nor the stampeding Sakneth could rival the intense feeling of dread this hatchling brought on the very second he crashed into the sands, freed from the shell.

Hurrying up, the blue screamed and screeched for all to hear, eyes whirling yellow. Many sent their comforting coos to him, but they did nothing but cause his volume to rise. He wailed, on and on, showing no signs of stopping. The mere sounds eventually became words, invading the mind of dragon and human alike.

WHERE ARE YOU?! WHERE ARE YOU?!

Dragonriders of Pern Shop
Another heart-wrenching scream sounded. The blue anxiously stomped all four feet on the sands, turning his head left and right almost fast enough to get whiplash. MINE! MINE! WHERE ARE YOU?!

The Weyrleader bit his lip, as he was sure many were doing, and bowed his head to hope with all his might for the best. No valiant brownrider cameo was going to save anyone from this dragon. He was distraught, disoriented and probably unaware of just how much damage he was about to do. Be safe, kids, D'astel thought to himself. The blue, to him, seemed a lost cause.

Spinning around, the dragonet didn't notice Panata until he was much closer. Too much closer.
NO! Terrified eyes, a blended color of yellow, orange and red, locked on the candidate. The blue took a defensive stance, then lunged at him, clawing Panata up both sides. His goal was not to kill, just to get away. This was not His!

Panata would be hurt, severely so, but he would live. For that he should thank his lucky stars, for not all were so lucky. Another boy was run over, one claw catching his shoulder and another his throat. This boy, too, had fallen, but he would not rise until the healers carted his corpse off later.

MINE! MINE! WHERE ARE YOU?!

Dragonriders of Pern Shop
The second attempt was met with the same resistance as Panata's had been. Perhaps there was some specific thing he was seeking and neither of them had it. The blue ran right over the brave (or perhaps foolish) Arolon and damaged his arm almost down to the bone.

MINE?! MINE?! He could almost hear them! But-- What? What was that? Snarling, he turned to face the screaming Leicha, then bounded toward him, plowing over him the same as he had done the other two. Damage to his right side and right arm, and likely some of his face. Content he would stop his yelling so he could hear better, the blue left the boys and ran for the girls.

A voice! He heard it!

Was it his?!

Screeching, he looked to Amoreth, about ready to approach her. But then she had stepped back, moved away from him, and he knew this was not His after all.

Growing more and more fearful, and certainly more out of control, he dove into the crowd of girls. Most were ready to scamper away, but in the chaos, one tripped. The dragonet moved on top of her and kept going. This girl who had fallen had been too badly harmed. She would not get back up either.

Dragonriders of Pern Shop
The blue set his sights on Amoreth again, but not so fondly this time. On the contrary, he seemed disgusted with her for some reason. At least, that's what it appeared to be.

More girls fled, more people yelled, but the dragon did not stop. He was running wildly around now, narrowly avoiding striking Kestra, but hitting three more girls in the process. The trio would live, but do so in pain for the next few weeks.

At some point during his rampage he locked stares with Janga and the anger was evident in his eyes. Another snarl, another stomping of feet and he charged the girl head on.

Dragonriders of Pern Shop
The last of the young dragons had no time to listen to all the people yelling at him now. Not Sellae, not Amoreth. No one. Anyone who got in his way was run over, and no matter how many people that was he kept going.

He was, obviously, ready to attack Trista, but by time he'd reached them Janga had pushed her away and was ready for a brawl. The dragon managed to claw her leg some, but none the less was grabbed by the horns. Not to be bested, he headbutt the candidate in the stomach. And what did he get in exchange? A punch on the nose! She'd hit him!

Dorath roared in response.

The Weyrleader stared, mouth wide open.

Jilis gasped and brought both hands up to her face. "No way!"

Everyone had a very vivid reaction, including him.

The blue hushed, went silent eventually, and to him it seemed so did the world around them. He had stepped back after the strike and stared at Janga.

After a pause, he snarled for the countless time, but it wasn't at her. No, he was facing the rest of the people, growling at every single girl he considered too close. And when he said the "M" word, it was not in the fond way one would expect, but rather a tone of possession.

BACK AWAY! She is MINE!

That said, he took his place by Janga's side, eyes fading from a mess of other colors into a content green.

He had found his equal. Finally.

Quote:
But why?!

Janga punched Jounoth in the face, and the rest is history.

Wait. What?

No, actually, that's exactly how it went. After hatching, Jounoth wasn't sure who His was. He didn't know who he wanted or even what gender they were. While other candidates stepped up to try and calm him, yelled at him or spoke with him, only Janga was both brave and mean enough to get physical about it.

Many tried to comfort him, but only she managed to actually control him, and that has made him see her in a light similar to how a wolf would look at it's alpha. Jounoth is a beast of burden among dragons and he needs a handler, not a friend. Congratulations, Janga! You earned it!

...Um... Yeeeeah...
