History:
Xanthe was the result of a mating flight between his parents, his mother carried him to birth and then left him in the care of different cavern workers as she had no desire to be a young mother and take care of a child as she was just twenty-one turns old, she considered her dragon to be far more important then a child. His father had a long-term wyermate who also had no desire to care and raise another woman’s child.
Growing up among the lower cavern workers Xanthe managed to learn many things from basic cooking skills to how to care for the beasts that will become the dragons supper.
When he reached his sixth turn his mother’s newest suitor had mentioned to her of his love of children and his desire for a large family due to this fact she wanted to make him happy so she had decided that maybe it was time to spend time with her son; as she had also been born a wyerbrat the Wyer was all she knew, so taking him with her she taught him everything she knew about the ways the Weyr worked and how to act in different situations but only a few months later she lost interest in her suitor and gained interest in a new male friend who had a large dislike of young children and so she left him with the lower cavern workers once more. She remained with the new suitor until she went between with her dragon and passed shortly after Xanthe’s tenth turn.
The actions of his mother, a woman he didn't know well caused him to be very clingy to those that he was familiar with and was the start of his awkwardness towards women in general. The cavern workers kept him out of his mother’s sight after that, going on the principal of 'out of sight, out of mind', as the experience left him with nightmares for months after.
As he got older he started to take more of an interest in watching the hatchings and, as soon as he was old enough, he started to try and impress a dragonet although with no luck so far he continues to try waiting for his lucky day.
Appearance:
Xanthe is an average height standing at just over 5’8, although he is on the thinner side he does have a good amount of muscle mass in his arms and legs that he gained from helping in the caverns. He has dark brown hair and green eyes.
Personality:
Xanthe is very independent, he well try and do everything by himself without help from outside sources and often this got him into spots of trouble when after doing something without letting others know he would get stuck or do something wrong and then try and fix it be himself which would just make it worse.
He is also a bit of a perfectionist, he well often spend an hour to do a half hour chore but you can be sure that when he’s done it’ll be done to the best of his ability. Xanthe tries to get others to show that same level of perfectionism as he does and well often go behind people and fix whatever they just did so that it matches his standards.
He often gets very irritated easily though, which well often cause him to just leave the person who was bugging him in mid-sentence or if its someone doing something he’ll shove them aside and do the task himself all the while muttering about ‘usless deadglows’. Another thing that gets him flustered easily is younger females; having spend the majority of his childhood with other males or elderly females he has trouble with females his own age, does he treat them like his male friends? Or more gently? Regardless of what he does its usually the wrong thing.

Just a couple of things about his history.
What made his mother, who you've said was previously uninterested in him, come back to take an interest in him for a short period of time? Did she get distracted by something like perhaps a potential male "friend" kind of thing, then get dumped and regain interest in her son till she found another one? That kind of thing. A little more about his situation so we can understand where his mother was coming from, and perhaps how he felt about her sudden reappearance in his life.

Better! But there still needs to be more a clear reason why she'd take an interest in him. If she's that worried about her "clock" why would she give him up in the first place? Though dragonriders would give up their children because caring for a dragon is a full time job, what would make her want to be a part of his life at one point later in his life, but not earlier? It might make a little more sense if she visited him in between suitors, perhaps, or if maybe he had a bit of a hero-worship for another rider and learned what he could from her/him?
