As the day warmed up into the noon, buzzing sounds began to drift into the environment. Wandering insects made their way up trees, over rocks, and onto the paths of many animals that dared venture within their territory. One happened to be running through the golden-green terrain, brushing against the soft blades of grass, and even making a leap or two every several swift steps. Nothing dared to grasp onto the quickened cheetah; her speed would have thrown anything off of her straightaway.
It had been a pretty content day so far, nothing out of the ordinary making itself known to the female. Her glossy dark gray striped pelt glinted in the sun's rays, and soaked in much of the warmth that came along. Bright eyes were scanning the area as she ran, looking in hopes of perhaps company to share the rest of the day with - a routine not unusual to her, for loneliness was as equatable to getting stung by neighboring wasps that may have happened to be disturbed. Needless to say, the female cheetah desired to find something other than floating bugs to play with - bugs only had so much entertainment value until they were perhaps, accidentally blown off by the breeze, or hit in the air to fall to the ground and not come up again.

Kallionstiryne found himself cleaning his face. Pawing at his face, then stopping to lick it, then continuing the pattern as he sat there with nothing to do. He hadn't noticed the other cheetah that was about to pass him in a few seconds. No, he was ignoring the land for the moment as he sat there, at least until she past him. He wasn't sure if it was a male or female. Almost instantly he had stopped cleaning his face and peaked up. Sure she was past him, but he still could catch her. Oh how he loved a bit of a challenge anyways. He waited a few more seconds before he actually got up and decided he was going to chase her.
Where had he seen this before? Oh yes, he had done this many times. It took him a whole two seconds to get going and start speeding up. Though, he was still taking his time. He wasn't in a total rush. If he was, he'd run out of breath and not be able to catch up to her.... Or she'd run out of breath, and he'd topple over her. Which he really didn't want to trip over another. Slowly, but surly he sped up, now he realized it was a female. He really wondered how many male cheetahs were out there, he never seemed to run into any.
He was still slightly behind her about a 10 feet, maybe more. But that was ok. A huge smile upon his face as the wind gushed past him. That was the best part of running. For it was the closest he'd ever get to being a real dragonfly. He wished to fly one day, but was probably not possible. No matter, that was for another time to think about. Right now, he needed to catch up to the other.

Wind rushed at the female cheetah's face, and a look of enthused joy markedly made its point on her face. The feeling of air whistling around her short, glossy fur was delightful, and she couldn't help but begin to laugh wildly on her run of exuberance, legs flailing away at the grass each time gravity pulled them back to the ground. She had also rendered herself to a poor observation, for as she rushed the actual breathing green figure, she merely thought it to be the same green of the grasses surrounding. She gave no notice to her pursuer; no glance, second look, or twitch of the head acknowledged the other cheetah.
But somehow, through the fast breezes of wind, she began to hear double the amount of paws every so slightly beating against the floor. To her knowledge, she didn't grow an extra pair of invisible legs, nor had she sped up. Realizing what could have been the case, she turned back to find herself staring at a green blurred image - it was as if a part of the grasses itself came to life to spring after her. A smile came, then, interested at the newcomer, but then something happened.
During her distracted gaze, the female cheetah diverted the effort and attention her legs were given, that the only possible direction to go was haphazard. Stumbling upon herself, she tumbled in a stripey whirl off to the side, and what had stopped her was only the softening land through the dirt; as her legs stuck out in the air, they also managed to place themselves at a bracing impact on the large rock that finally halted her momentum. She flopped over, clearly exhausted from half of the run--the other half being her sudden trip.
Bright eyes opened to look for the green chaser, and blinked in an attempt to refocus itself; the world was viewed woozily for the moment, but nothing the young feline couldn't heal from.
"Who's that?" she called out, perhaps a bit too cheerfully for one normally in her disposition.

Kallionstiryne had watched her fall, which made him slow down as he winched from her crash. He felt mostly responsible for it. If he hadn't been there, she most likely wouldn't have fallen. He trotted towards the fallen female with a smile. As she called out he inclined his head. "I'm Kallionstiryne.... You can call me whatever you want though. I do Apologize for your fall." he said as he got a few feet to her. He didn't want to get too close, in case she wasn't as friendly as she looked. Not that he had any bad experiences or anything, he just didn't want to take any chances.
"That was a great run though, and I thank you for it." Even if it didn't last very long. His tail was flicking wildly as his blue eyes looked upon her golden ones. Kallionstiryne had not many markings upon him. only for wings... Two on each side. That made it look like maybe he should be able to fly, yet they were part of his fur. Many times was he called dragonfly, or wing boy... None really made him angry. Actually, he was quite happy about his "Wings" His beaded necklace was turned around, so the blue beads weren't showing. Though, he didn't seem to notice at all

The small cheetah hopped up quickly, paws still quivering out of excitement from the crash as well as meeting someone new. A tumble like that wouldn't ruin any giddy stride of the female cheetah's, and the smile from the approaching stranger sure helped to keep the mood bright. She was glad that the other cheetah's expression was amiable as she rose - he needn't worry or feel bad for that trip, anyways. He seemed quite polite, though she supposed his manners could also have been founded by a slight guilt for her tripping. When he introduced himself, however, she giggled at his line after giving her his name, and stepped in to narrow the gap between them.
"Whatever I want, huh? You don't like your name?" she paused, thinking briefly, "It is kind of long. Kallionstiryne... Wow! I'm just Kuchwa."
Her tail flickered along to his, and her smile brightened as she struggled to restrain the energy she contained - after all, her prior run was interrupted. Upon being thanked by him, she grinned widely and was glad to have bumped into another lover of running, especially if he was as nice as he presented himself to be.
"No worries about my crash though. I need to get better at not getting that distracted. You can make up for it, though..." she flashed her dazzling sweet teeth at him, "Don't stop running!"

"I think my name is nice, but most don't like how long it is. So, a nickname is always good too" He said with a laugh. "Kuchwa is an easy name to remember, at least not that long! I don't think I've met anyone with a long name anyways." He liked to ramble just as much as anyone as hyper as he could become. He smiled at her and tried to keep himself from laughing.
"No need for apologies of any kind. I don't mind falling once in awhile, myself. Keeps me on my toes." He winked at her. He raised a brow at her. "A race it is then? I love races!" With that, he waited before bolting in whatever direction he could think of. He wanted to make sure they both were on the same page.

Throughout his ramble, Kuchwa beamed at his enthusiasm for his explanation; if only most could be as open and talkative as Kallionstiryne!
"Kal, Kalli, Kallion... maybe I could go with one of those as a nickname. Or maybe just plain 'Green' will work!" she chided, "And wow, usually falling keeps me off my toes... You have talent."
Her heart jumped joyously when he assented to her race proposal; she was right! There were others in the savanna who enjoyed races as much as she did. That was always a good discovery to make, so she wouldn't take it in stride as she thought about preparing herself for the race. However, before her thoughts could gather or she could speak again, he zoomed right off, and Kuchwa gaped in a little shock before her instincts let her zip off right after him. She wasn't that far behind, as there was a momentary lapse of time, but the act was nonetheless surprising.
"Heeeeey," she called out cheerfully, seeming to gain some steps closer on him, "Gotta watch out!"
Kuchwa then, feeling like she was close enough to be a threat, opened her jaws and playfully snapped at his trailing tail.

He laughed. She was right, falling was more like keeping you off your toes. But that wasn't exactly what he was getting at. He wasn't going to explain it though. Would be boring, and ruin their fun greeting. Plus, he was interested in racing now. He wanted to move. He loved feeling the wind fly past him as fast as it could. He wished he had wings more real then the ones upon his back.
He had started off before they even counted. That was no fun. Counting. It was better to just run and see who was faster, or who could catch up to him. He wasn't the fastest cheetah out there, so this was probably best. He wondered if she'd follow him if he took a slight turn. A smirk upon his face, he wanted to make this more of a chase then a race. Then again, he didn't want to make her fall and accidentally hurt her. "Race you to that tree there!" He told her as he tried to look back at her. This was more fun then he's had in a while, he thought.

Her eyes and movement depended solely on his, and Kuchwa was never one to lag behind or give up. While she was no slowpoke, clumsiness occasionally lend itself to her running - a good example was the fall that introduced Kallionstiryne to her.
Ears perked as his voice drifted backwards, and she looked at his face as soon as he turned it, giggling to herself at how that action was exactly what had caused her trip in the first place. The green guy possibly had more poise than her, though, and she was definitely not catching him off guard. In fact, Kallionstiryne was already beginning a habit of always being on top of things! He was ready during her fall, when they raced, and now, he was already dictating their next move!
It was suitable because Kuchwa very much liked that suggestion, and so laughed vigorously in accordance. She looked ahead in front of him, picking out the one prominent tree that he may have been talking about. She only hoped he was fair in allowing for obvious perception; she couldn't reach something she couldn't see, after all.
"You're already defeated!" she remarked, paws exhibiting greater force on the ground.
She attempted to double her pace - it was possible, but this effort also allowed for more risky accidents to come up too...

Kallionstiryne laughed as he started to try to pick up speed. He only saw that one tree, which he hoped she was looking at it as well. Would be pretty funny if they went for different trees now that he thought of it. Oh well, he'd just have to see what happened. He heard her shout something, he thought she might have said that he was gonna win. Then again, the wind had kinda blocked out most of what she said. So he was just putting in what he thought it was.
Yes, he was going to win. At least in his eyes. he didn't think anyone could beat him. Though, he wasn't exactly the fastest cheetah out there. He just liked to run, and always had a good positive attitude about any situation.
