Lately I've noticed that the media is focusing alot more on gay people. Like how we dress, you've got all the girls in flannels and tore up jeans, and guys in tight abercrombie sweaters with skinny jeans and every now and then i see them with a scarf. plus, it's becoming socially acceptable, not only in a regular sense, but in that guys don't take girls sexuality seriously. basically, girls can get away with being gay easier because straight guys think it's really hot. plus you've got all this publicity going around with gay people because they passed prop 8 in california last year, but it's legal in a few more states.
so, has anyone else noticed this change in events?

I have. The growing popularity of Gay sexualities is actually quite interesting to me. However, I find it sad that people refuse to stop ridiculing others for their sexual orientations. Goes to show how ignorant people are. Then again, I have been ignorant at one point in my life as well, so I'm not excluding myself. The difference is, I accept everyone no matter the race, religion, or sexuality.
More onto this subject (Sorry for my little paragraph above...) I find the fashion pretty cool. It's acceptable, It's just not in MY nature to dress like that. Slim fit jeans, 2 shirts, wristbands and converse is all I need.

My only problem with this, is often times, gay characters in TV shows and movies are only there for comic relief and represent the gay community by portraying caricatures.

Yeah, I think it's kind of lame how lesbians are more socially acceptable than gay men just because straight men find it hot. I mean really, it's gross if guys do it because guys should be banging chicks, but it's not gross if two vahjayjays are together instead of vahjayjay and a sausage? But oh well. Maybe more girls will start fangirling about how hot gay men are and it'll even itself out soon. >>;
I do think that sometimes stereotypes come into existence for a reason, and that's because certain types of people do the same things and wear the same things, but yar, despite the stereotype people shouldn't assume things about every individual. I personally dress depending on my mood. Plaid shirts and baggy jeans one day and skirts and blouses and dresses another. And I'm sure people assume things about me depending on my outfit. =x But yeah, gays do seem to be slowwwly more socially accepted, and by the time they're fully accepted (like african americans), people will wonder why it took so long to not be close-minded meanies. Or maybe it'll end when older generations are gone.

I'd say it's more plaid became the new black... First the media mooched off the emo's and the punks and the other darker coloured fashions. Once that passed they moved onto mooching the signiture queer styles. I miss the days where you could pin point other gay people by their clothing and tattoo's. Now everyone kinda looks the same. Wonder what'll happenwhen the trend shifts again.

Why is it becoming more socially acceptable, when it shouldve been completely accepted in the beginning!?! I agree that guys just think that being lesbian is hot, I have a few friends i know are lesbian, because theyve told me.. and ya'know they get asked out by guys more that girls, and when ever guys ask them out, they say "why?" and most are actually truthful, they usually say something along these lined "Well.. umm, cause you're hot and cause you date girls too.. and that is majorly HOT" Then of course they reject them...
Anyways, yes i am noticing this.. there is actually a guy at my school (yes, more story time! lol) and he pretends to be gay, just so the people will supposedly "like him more"
Sexuality should be something you mean (if that makes sense? lol) Story time #3: A girl I know thinks she can just change her sexuality everyday, At first shes straight, had no interest in girls.. the next day she is lesbian... the next day shes Bi sexual, and she has been trying to figure out what she is, when one day she says "im having a hard tim deciding to be Bi sexual, or lesbian, i think ill just go to being straight again...." I dont think this is right.. you cant just choose what gender you want to love, right? you actually have to feel attraction, right? I dont remember where i read it but i think some where i read that 82% (dont hold me to that number, im not completely sure about it, but it was definitely more than 50) of americans experience sexual thought about the same gender..
I also hate how some people have such closed minds, and only have one opinion that they are not willing to change when it comes to sexuality...
Anyways, i just spilled grapefruit all over me and am feeling stick, so im going to clean up, it probably for the better so i dont like, write a speech here xD

It's pretty annoying sometimes, because I'll meet a girl that says, "I'm bi-sexual when I'mmmm drunk!" That's not bi-sexual, that's just drunk. Dx Then you get people that say all gay people are going to hell, then they go off and sleep with some person they barely know. :/
